  2. I went into my local Skoda dealership to get a quote for replacement head bolts and I was stunned with price of the bolts - £60!!!!! I was expecting them to be alot cheaper than that!........... Has anyone sourced them cheaper and or have the Skoda part number for them.
  3. I used to own a diesel felicia a few years ago. Bolts......hmmmmm........after breaking one Id never reuse them (personal choice but sure you could) thanks.
  4. Thanks that is a great help! I managed to break off no.2. Can i reuse the nuts again (thought there wer only bolts) Thanks again for the info.

  8. Mine is a 1.3 mpi - here is my inexperience showing - i thought the cam chain was connected in some way, but its not. the milage is 103000 and sounds a but rattley - so prob best to change?
  9. Hi all, After my Felicia let me down before christmas "brakes binding" I decided to spend some ££ on getting the Felicia back to 100% reliability. While doing the servicing i retightened the head bolts as there was a slight oil leak fromthe front of the engine, i managed to tighen all the bolts except one (I broke it - I know I dont feel very clever) Now that means I have to take off the head - drill out the stud and relpace gasket and bolts. Not having done a gasket on a felicai - is there anything to watch out for? I was thinking as I would have the cam chain off im as well to put a new one on. I would apprichiate some advice and head's up. Thanks.
  10. Rang up the Skoda dealers today and quoted the part number and i will be collecting it on Saturday morning. the one benifit of the calipers kits are the are very quick to change and cheap.......£9-10 per caliper.
  11. Ive been trying my best to find the relevant kit and no luck. Dose anyone have a part number as im sure rust will appear on the piston again and i will be stuck - again. I need the piston as well as the seals. Thanks all......
  12. Hi all, On the way to Biringham today the car the brakes started to bind "front left" When i took the brakes apart the piston would not retract. I managed to get the piston out and the and it had a rusty patch on it. Link below sell Felicia pistons but they dont look like the same cup shape "cup shape" - but will it still work? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SKODA-S-SERIES-BRAKE-PISTON-44-5mm-APPRX-/120649481278?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c1744fc3e Where can i get a service kit "seals car is a S reg 1998, 1.3 mpi
  13. Well........I went to pick up the car earlier today after travelling 2 hours and the car was not as described!! - When driving there is a knocking noise comming from the front left side - The dash is all badly scraped - The doors cards are scrapped as well - When got back from the test drive the car starting reving, salesman pressed the peddle and it got worse! I left the car as the alarm bells were ringing!! So much for the diesel...........
  14. A bit to risky with the black?.......I will go with the silver. On my prevous diesel I had the 15" and ithink i put 195/50's on it and it looked great. The wheels that i got at the breakers were totally mint...£40, passat. Dose any one have any in good condition?
  15. IM picking up my new car on Saturday, see link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1997-Skoda-Felicia-1-9-Diesel-5-door-hatch-/140451681885?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item20b392965d A set of G60 steel wheels should look nice
  16. That is on my car but I have seen people put more insulation direcilt onto the bonnet rather than just hanging it. "I wonder if I another one on there will it half the noise!!......lol"
  17. I have tried to use the search on this site to try and solve the problem but I didnt find it that great, and it is the same for the soundproofing thread.
  18. I took delivery of my tempature sender unit and the thermo fan switch today and got them fitted and it has worked. The car once above the 3 oclock position the fan switches on "so an improvment on the 110oC" so the car should sit in traffic alot better and not get so hot. Oh, forgot to say that to fix the problem was £15 delivered £10 for the fan switch and £5 for the reader
  19. Do you think that it would make a difference if it was added to the different areas! What type of material would be suitable? There is some sound proofing on the bulk head, but i havnt seen the egg crate style under the bonnet and there is padding on the bonnet but it may be for heat insulation rather than sound.
  20. Hi all, This a topic I concidered when I had my diesel before but never got around to it......so here it goes Has anyone on here sucessfully soundproofed a felicia? I done 100 iles in it yesterday and the radio seems pointless as you can't here it properly over the engine. I think the biggest gains for noise reduction would be from the engine bay and the bulk head. Would love to hear peoples views on this or experience. Thanks.
  21. I gave the car a service today and I let the car heat up and kept an eye on it and we came to the same conclusion as you - top man for posting the link! I have the part ordered and hopefully it should sort the problem. Thanks again.
  22. So all in all if they do get hot and if they dont go above the 110oC they should be ok.....? "they run hot-ish"
