  1. Cheers guys. I'm not leaking coolant. I've replaced the coolant temp sensor and that's fixed that code. I replaced the MAF with a pattern part. The other day I unplugged it just to check and the coughing seems to have stopped. Hopefully if I relplace it with a genuine one it'll fix the issue.
  2. The car has developed a cough/misfire at 3-4k rpm. It's only a recent development. The car idles fine and apart from a rather apparent water leak has no other major issues. So far I've changed: Coil packs (a month ago) MAF (a month ago) N75 valve/relay (about 2 weeks ago) Spark plugs (last night) When I plug the code reader I have in I get: P1296 Cooling system malfunction P0418 SAI System control A circuit Neither of which, according to a lengthy Google search, seem to be related to my problem. It appears my problem is another "common issue these cars seem to come with. Any ideas after trying the usual fixes?
  3. Went there on Saturday to have my coil pack recall done. Well pleased with the quick turnaround and the fact that they didn't even flinch when they had to replace a 4 packs free of charge on a 16 year old motor. My only niggle is that they didn't turn off the EML and I overheard the service mechanic whining that the car was hot because I'd just driven it there and he was burning his fingers (although I think the last one says more about the man's intelligence rather than the garage itself.)
  4. @Milesy888 they are. Mines booked in Saturday to have them done.
  5. Thanks guys all done following that guide. I just replaced the whole mechanism as a pattern part was £20 off ebay. Took me just over an hour and has fixed multiple issues.
  6. Thanks @Ttaskmaster I'll look that thread through.
  7. @vrsTom is this the badger I'm looking for?
  8. @KenONeill nothing on mine is working (lights or buzzer) so I'll assume it's the switch for now.
  9. Hi there. One of the manyear little niggles that my new purchase has come with. Please excuse the technical term but should much 51 plate vrs make a dinging noise if I leave them on with the keys out of the ignition? Twice I've left the lights on now killing the battery.

    Hi

Thought I'd say hi. New to the Skoda brand. Just purchased a 51 plate Octavia VRS. Been a while since I've been part of a forum so no idea how much these things get used these days.
