  2. About 5 weeks / 1,110 miles in my new Kamiq. Pleased with just about everything including great service from Ian at West End in Edinburgh. Slight irritation with the display information bugs and inconsistency. But of most concern is the uncomfortable front seats. Still experimenting but so far haven't found a good seat position. Also, the bulkhead is pressing the side of my left leg when using the footrest. I'd be interested to hear anyone with similar comments

  4. Just leave on all the electrical items in your house then and because the National Grid electrical generators are running anyway, it won't cost you any money. Fools like you and their money are soon parted..

  7. Because if the lights are not needed to increase visibility or conspicuity then it's just wasting fuel
  8. I could be mistaken but there seems to be a growing tendency for folk to drive around with their front fogs on even in good visibility. Some even use them along with side lights only. There also seems to be a lot of cars with their DRLs still on at the same time as their headlights. Seems like a lot of wasted energy I suspect a lot of folk just like to operate these as toys but what's the legal position in the UK ?
  9. I've experienced this too and the handbook is a bit misleading. It says the car WILL go into limp mode but mine didn't so there must be at least two causes for the flashing glow plug. One is definitely the exhaust gas temp sensor (as it was in my case) with no limp mode and another must be a genuine glow plug fault. Neither of these has anything to to with the DPF / Regen mechanisation. I'm not sure if the brake light bulbs issue is present in Fabia II. I did experience this on my MK1 vRS and was less than impressed with Chathams when instead of asking me if I'd checked for bulb failure they charged me £40 to run the diagnostic and then told me it was the bulb!
  10. I've done just under 13k miles and on a scale of 1 - 10 my overall satisfaction rating is 9. Purchased from Chathams in Edinburgh - Salesman was George Lockhart. Purchasing Process / Trade in - 10/10. Spec'd it my way and it was delivered in 12 weeks as per George's initial estimate Extras: Sunroof, Heated Seats , Towbar, Rear APS, Sports Suspension, Crooz Control, Black Magic Pearl. Initial impressions - 9/10 Very smooth and refined compared to old 1.9TDi estate. Not as torquey as the 1.9 and performance lacklustre Doesn't get off the line very smoothly Clutch heavy (compared to my daughter's Fiesta) Feels much bigger on the inside! Seats comfortable so long range cruising very relaxing Small boot but easy to adapt for my geetars / amps when gigging. Fuel economy not as good as MK 1 vRS nor 1.9TDi Oil consumption negligible Heated Seat switches in the wrong way round Minor teething trouble with exhaust gas sensor failure - replaced under warranty with courtesy car covered by complimentary insurance (a lot of mainstream insurers don't do this! ) I'd have another for sure but since the next purchase is likely to be my last (due to retirement) I'll maybe look for something a bit bigger. Aso note that Chathams are no longer trading in Edinburgh. Initial impressions with Western is that they're not quite as customer friendly.
  11. I've got a 1.6 Elegance and my mates always have a laff at the wimpy noise the horn makes - t'was the same with my previous Fabia 3
  12. If you have a tail mounted bike rack then it could be a problem - I've been there but there was no ill effect ! :peek:
  13. This topic pops up fairly regularly - seems like the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor is fairly unreliable
  14. I've owned both. 1.6 is very refined whereas 1.9 sounded like a tractor 1.9 has more mid range grunt and pulls better from low revs but 1.6 is deceptively quick. I don't have hard facts and data. My 1.6 is too new to be able to compare economy but my old 1.9 @ 30k miles did 45 in town and high 50s on run from Edinburgh to Aberdeen No probs so far with DPF @ 8k miles. I did have Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor replaced under warranty. It seems a not uncommon fault with the new 1.6 TDi
  15. I had similar recently. A mix of Control System for Exhaust Lamp and flashing glowplug. Both intermittent and car never switched to limp mode (emergency programme) at any time. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor replaced and all fine now. Looks like this Sensor may be a bit unreliable because there's been quite a few posts on this subject.
