  1. No but I got some other good leads so thankyou, I might resort to daily emails if I have to.
  2. Would anyone kindly be able to advise me if there are any good IT recruitment agencies for seeking positions surrounding the Mids/ E Mids area generally ? (or perhaps even better, work at one and can sympatehtically help with a long term strategy to help make a very worthwhile career move/change ) I am keen to find something particularly surrounding a mix of requirements, a need for reporting/ Crystal (trained) / particularly CRM (GM, SuperOffice + MSCRM1.2 certified), work with relational databases or specific users requirements, development knowledge (some attempts with VBA, VB.NET, ASP.NET and VB and such), background also in ERP support as well as standard desktop support etc , but also previous dealings with rolling out stuff like SharePoint and such technologies and therefore well IT capable/ rounded, but never at any danger of talking to everyone else like they are utter fools which seems to be a problem befalling most in "IT". Or is it just me that seems to see this of others working around IT ??? I think with any time on CRM and you have to either be able to work with users directly and patiently, or CRM isn't for you. Specific CRM jobs seem a bit fickle to come across without having to travel to London or further  , I could really use a hand to make a move from my current position which is subject to restructuring worldwide and therefore becoming something of a bore/chore/Pita/possible redundancy or risk of further boredom. Cheers
  3. Thumbs up, deffo funny but I prefered SOTD tbo.... worth a watch definitely.
  4. I'd agree that I think the video looks better than the photos I saw. It looks like subtler than I thought, only satisfactorily slightly deviant from the current. I am glad because it's nice to see something of the old model still in the new one if you get me, rather than a face (or tail)-lift gone-wrong appearance. I think they are doing a good job of keeping the brand current in the right direction, some may disagree. Doubt I will be able to afford another VRS anytime soon after my latest anyway, but I'd be keen to see the new VRS regardless.
  5. Sorry, I was deffo not calling the actual thread poster a moron far from it. It was more a future prose, and I wasn't aiming it directly at the thread poster either more a generalised examination. A case of if having explained this analagy it IF you STILL don't get it you need some help IFSWIM !
  6. All working! Just a few points: The main power cable run that feeds along the carpet needs to be cable tied again in a couple of places (these have to be snipped to get some of the master relays/power connections slid out the way, in order to access the junction connector I needed). I was in such haste to reconnect, I got my ordering of tasks wrong as I'd already got the dash lower refitted and cursed myself for this! A followup job. It doesn't seem to be moving at all behind there anyway so its not going to cause any problems for now. I also seem to be left with just one single small dashmount screw which for the life of me I cannot work where its missing from!!!! another minor followup job. Otherwise, its working! A bit of an anticlimax in terms of the function once it settled in how it operates, but I can tell you I how happy I was just to get it working! Yahhhooooooooo! With the VW stalk you seem to have to sort of tap it twice and it works. I panicked at first, because firstly I had the unplausable signal at vag-com which made me feel it may not be properly terminated.
  7. Ok if you need an analogy put to it to really understand the VRS, then here it goes. The VRS is a bit like the girl next door, or down-to-earth girlfriend. Quite pleasing to know, easy on your wallet most of the time if you are sensible, but ever possible to thrill you when you least expect it. If you want lots of additional plastics to boot (a la Pam Andreson) and other headaches that can go with it (including extra servicing costs and initial layout) a la "WAGS", then some more expensive vehicle is perhaps your vehicle of choice sir. If you need it explaining again, then sir you are a moron. Say no more )
  8. Yes, I used my old bolts on the MPi although this wasn't a sound idea, just that for some reason EBC don't supply em. Actually in comparison Halford's kits werent that much more, and theirs included the replacement kit presumably with bolts, and was a reasonable brand too. Of course that was standard brakes though, not performance. If you get locking thread compound it is necessary to hold the bolts from vibrating loose, otherwise get replacements.
  9. This is second time around I decided to get my head under the dash (first attempt fixed up the stalk and ran the loom, but the wiring to ECU stumped me because I didnt want to garbage my warranty by splicing to the ECU wire). I've up until now been driving around with the loom in a bag taped up under the plastics until I decided what to do !! (I hasten to add, it hasn't been of great concern to me because I have been very busy, what with a motorcycle build to contend with, many other household jobs etc which has included laying laminate floor and then carpets and then painting etc etc. Such is life) However, I've finally cracked my understanding of the post '04 cruise now the proper-install (Stu) way. Hopefully fully cruise enabled tommorow! ( I have the computer bits ready for when I have the cabling done) If anyone is attemting same without wishing to ruin warranty, just to say that I have found this to be reasonably possible (with the VW stalk and thankful to Stu's basic instructions). MY RECOMMENDATION: I'll warn most though, its neither quick nor easy, nor safe if you consider the removal of the airbag. I would therefore suggest that STU's service represents EXCELLENT value for money to provide this install (if you value your skin and your time). There is a lot of messing about with plastics under the dash to actually get at all the right bits, and unless you do it a lot you could be looking at over a day or more. I don't think I'll want to tread on any toes here by revealing how exactly its possible with modification to the posted guides, since this is Stu's area for revenue.
  10. I am sorry. Thread starter was a bit of a non-starter for 10, IMO (although granted its a good discussion starter for what might be an otherwise dull and bleak Saturday). Otherwise while we are at it: BMW: German Ford Sierra ? Mercedes: Posh Taxis but no more remarkable than a big stinking Rover 820? etc VW Golf: A Skoda Fabia for those with too much money ...but I think we are all more intelligent than that and have their own judgement on why to pick a car without bringing in baggage like this. I think the VRS has introduced this way of thinking about the model, which is a pity. When I first got a Skoda, I just thought damn the build is good and didn't really have any performance match concerns because I started on the 1.4 model (which is ok but just a run of the mill hatch performance wise) Now it seems that its a frequent issue to have to justify how good the car is. Why bother, it just is !! I just think the 11k price band, cheap insurance, and out of this world fuel economy, and above average performance to most standard cars on the road are more than enough for me to smile about. I don't feel this "line up while we compare sizes" thing is really appropriate to the Brand. Discuss ?
  11. I figured it would be this but why do it part-way through the journey, instead of other instances where you start the journey and its been colder = no warning ) Mind you, I think you'd have to be pretty sensually deprivated to NOT realise the temparature prior to entering the vehicle given how sodding cold it is, so I guess they probably got it about right...
  12. Absolutely, copper grease is an essential requirement and I didn't spare any, except on the pad surface of course. I take it yours was low miles? Just a rubber mallet - seriously? I gave up after about 10 minutes with that, it came off after a few seconds however with a quick chat from a 4Lb lump hammer ) 50k can leave the discs seriously welded up by rust and you need a pretty reasonable hammer or heat to break it down properly. A rubber mallet is just foreplay to that kind of munged up rust.
  13. Sorry this is probably part of the owners guide, but any idea what the trip computer "bleep" and flashing along with attention to the fact the external temp was showing 4 degrees is all about ??? Yes, its cold, I know I can damn well feel it. I am not sure why the car has to remind me?? Perhaps its the opposite of the ads for the Roomster Is my car Christine ???
  14. Tackled the Skoda brakes on SWMBO's Ferby for the 1st time between today and yday. Spent 1/2 day on one side, then about 1 hr or even less on the other! Well, thats time take to realise the tools needed (what no 7mm allen, then a quick trip to Halfords, after some time wasted with 1 assistant, then finally a very helpful guy who helped direct me to the brake key + locking compound since EBC dont supply the bolts). Not bad overall cost either and the brakes seem to work just fine (Bosch discs+EBC). All in all, with a lump hammer bought (a blinking must have tool for the discs removal) couldn't have been much more than £80. Big thanks to tfboy and others for your help on here, it also helps for front brakes to some degree. It also inspires me to tackle the big front upgrade if I ever get around to wearing out the VRS brakes!!!
  15. Sorry to hijack this post in a different direction but I had my feeling on this. Question, ok how much of this will ebay's fault when the crunch comes?? or should be/could be proven in a court of law ?? (one thinks should be victim of their own success - much like makers of fags who have seen claims against them ??). I mean, these are the guys who put this wonderful web auction thingy into place. Well, I don't recall the last time that car motor auctions allowed completely hooky cars to be sold. Isn't it about time that ebay were put to rights about letting fraudulent dealings go on on their own site? (rather than just a case, of the ones that got away and then its the victim who suffers). Does ebay ever take the front for a problem like this? I can understand if we are talking small ads or some other venue. But this is the big hyped ebay we are talking about here. Im not against ebay, I think it works well in the right sense. But the policing is up to them to resolve.
