  1. mines a 52 plate with 68k on the clock, full service history.
  2. I am thinking of selling my Car, as the title says it's a MK1 4x4 hatch with 68000 on the clock, in Elegance spec, golden bronze in colour, brilliant car, had timing belt and water pump done by the dealer when I bought it, but due to a change in circumstances I now need an estate, so this may have to go. Need to know a rough price so as not to get done over by dealers really.
  3. Will take in on monday, will report back what is said and done by the dealer.
  4. Had this car a couple of weeks, bought from main dealer who also changed the timming belt as part of the purchase, but now the engine seems more rattley than it used to a couple of weeks ago. Timming belt was only done last week and it seems to have got more noisy since then. On start up there is the loud rattle of the tappets, but even after 10 mins ticking over it is still more tappety than it used to be, also there seems to be a rumbling noise from the cambelt side of the engine low down, maybe about half way down the engine. Took the plastic cover off the top, and it deffinatly seems to be tappets, but not sure how much noise they produce normally, in a normal 1.8t engine. As for the rumbling noise, could this be the water pump, no idea if this was changed when they did the belt, but will not be happy if they didnt change it. Service mentioned something about a thermostate that had partialy collapsed they thought and that was changed, but at the time of picking the car up, I was in a hurray, so never really asked much more, (maybe I should have done.) but now just abit concerned about all the noises, and as this is the first petrol car I have had in some years, (all others have been diesel) not sure whether I am getting worried over nothing.
  5. Had a similar problem with my superb, no lights on climate but if I turned the radio on they came on, also outside temp did not display on climatronic unit until the radio was turned on, if yours does the same, it is the radio at fault. Had mine changed foc by dealer.
  6. Can someone tell me if the compressor should work all the time and if the fan on the radiator should cut in and out or stay on all the time. The reason I ask is, that tonight I have neither the compressor nor the fan, outside temp is 4 degrees and my local dealer seems to think neither will work until the temp is higher, but seem to remember it worked all the time on my superb regardless of outside temp.

  8. I too would prefer to be seated together, just so we can chat as I have not met anyone yet in person.
  9. I would like to come along as well, will also tell my mate and see if he can come as well, live in Brampton both of us, let me know times please. Sorry forgot to say could be 5 for food
  10. Sorry if this has already been covered, but tried to do a search and after reading through lots of threads but with still no answer, decided to just ask the question. I have just changed from a Skoda Superb to an Octavia 52 plate, and need some help on the climatronic system. Now on the Superb you could press two buttons together and enable or disable the audible feature of the climatronic so when buttons were pressed it beeps. I can not find away to do this on the octavia, it is a 52 plate 4x4 turbo. Can not find any info in the handbook on it, so it may not be able to be done, but am sure someone on here has done it in the past, or at least said how to do it.
  11. Car was bought second hand from the dealer, who told me it would have a 1year warrenty from them regardless of milage, year will be up in january.
  12. Will just get it done at the dealers, warrenty is more important than a cheap service, just hope it only involves one trip.
  13. On variable service now, want to keep it that way too. Brother in law is a VAT reg garage so not a problem there, may just get it done at the dealer, has 63000 on it now so next time will need cam belt done for the first time as well, it is an 05 plate and the dealer tells me this needs the belt done at 80k.
