  1. Its not been a problem before the car went into the body shop.
  2. Hi all, I was rear ended in an accident and parking sensors were removed and replaced. However, if i reverse when I start the car (ie without turning on the infotainment system it will just beep without the graphic and not show graphic till i switch the infotaiment system on. Also there are times I have drove off and its not taken the graphic away and need to press × on the screen before it goes. Any ideas why, the problems dont happen all the time either so hard to explain to the body shop whats wrong.
  3. No, everyones insurance goes up because often people make silly mistakes. I wouldnt need to worry about a hire car and repair had this not happened.
  4. Pretty sure the driver was texting when driving (or some activity where she was not looking out) No proof of this. But there is no way this accident should have happened. Its a big open road and quite quiet at the time and would have seen the car some distance away. And obvs looked away as no way should she have hit the car that hard. Her excuse was Sorry, I thought you had gone (onto the roundabout).
  5. The garage said it was signficant structural damage but insurer authorised the repair costs so not a write off. Not happy - im thinking about selling a taking a hit as outstanding finance more than value of car at the moment.
  6. Body shop took a look at it and insurer happy with cost to repair. Will be in the garage a good few weeks as its significant damage. I was given a Hyundai i10 as a loan car - apparently that is a like for like to a Fabia? I had to fight to upgrade. Getting a Ford Fiesta or Vauxhall Corsa tomorrow to run around in for a few weeks. I was wanting it written off, oh well will be sold in a years time at 3 year mark.
  7. No it was my girlfriend, a learner driver and I was the teacher. We had learner driver insurance in place for the day. Third party phoned up that day and admitted fault. So has been pretty painless so far. Has put her off doing top up lessons with me!!!!
  8. I was rear ended yesterday with significant damage to my Fabia. Photo attached. Boot caved in and wont shut, bumper crumpled. Not sure about internal damage. I want it to be a write off as its an unlucky car. 2nd time this has happened in 2 years (different person driving it each time). Not sure if damage is borderline to be a write off. Its 17 plate with 23,000 miles. We buy any car estimate value at £6,000 although have seen same car on auto trader for £8,250. What do you guys think? Any help would be appreciated.
  9. My car is 18 months old (19,000 miles) and when I drive on the motorway I get an eggy smell in the car that lingers for around 15 seconds. In the space of 2 hours motorway driving this happened 5 times. Can anyone help me?
  10. Hi, I scratched my alloys on a pavement and its done a little bit of damage. Should i be worried that the actual tyre is and may have a blowout? Is the damage even worth repairing? Thanks in advance.
  11. Any ideas what causes breaks to squeal it tends to happen when I'm reversing into a parking space. Sometimes it happens other times it doesn't. The performance of the breaks isn't affected but just makes quite a loud squeal at times. It's been like that since I the day I got the car (car was brand new), thought they just needed to be broken in and garage thought that too. Any ideas ?
  12. Hi I bought a new Skoda at the end of May and at the time they were discontinuing the old 1.2 TSI 90 Is there much difference between that and the 1.0 TSI 95. I got the 1.2 tsi with metallic paint on PCP for £181.83 (10,000 miles per year) with £200 deposit. I'm very happy with the 1.2 just wondering if anyone on here has tried out both?
  13. Hi All, I had an accident merging onto another lane. The driver in front of me braked abruptly so I was either to slam on the brakes or the other option was to merge onto other lane. I noticed the car was very far back and knew I would have enough time to change lane. However we clipped each other's cars. Images attached. We pulled over to exchange insurance details - he became very aggressive and insisted it was my fault. I just gave him insurance details and he passed over mine. It's been a week since the incident and he hasn't made any notification to his insurance. How long does he have until invalid? My excess is £540 but have been quoted around £260 for re paint and bumper repair. However, it's unclear yet who is at fault. The accident management company say that they will recover all costs from the at fault party (which is him as he came into me). However, insurance company do not know who is at fault yet. Can't repair my car until he contacts his insurance. Looking at the photos who do you think is at fault? Also on the silver car - any ideas what the dirty brown mark is ?
