  1. Cheers for that Gabbo I'll have a fiddle with the settings. Haha I thought I was the only one!
  2. Same, mine is only really in Auto. It was a bit foggy the other morning, so I manually turned the lights on (they didn't come on automatically) and that is when I noticed it to be honest. Glad to know its totally normal. Thanks guys!
  3. Spot on, cheers fella. I was wondering!
  4. Hi Guys, I need some help please. My Octavia isn't a new one, but it is new to me, I bought it second hand at 2 years old. Its the first Skoda I have owned and its due to come out of its warranty next month (6th May). I am wondering if someone can shed some light (no pun intended!) on the lightswitch itself. I have attached some images of mine. When i have the dial set to AUTO, only the AUTO word lights up in yellow - which I believe is normal and working correctly. My issue comes when the lights are on (dipped headlights). Sidelights seem to light the sidelight icon up in green, which again seems right. However, with dipped beam on, the dipped beam icon does not light up. If I leave it in the "Auto" position when its dark enough for the lights to come on, the sidelights icon lights up, but not the dipped beam icon. Also, if I put the fog lights on (by pulling the dial), these icons also do not light up. Is this normal? Or should I be making a visit to Skoda ASAP to get it sorted under warranty? Just to confirm, the lights themselves, side lights, dipped beam, full beam and all fog lights work - its not an issue with the lights but the icons on the lightswitch. thanks in advance Mark
  5. All great information, thanks very much gang! I'll have a look on eBay (and other auction websites ) and see what I can find. Never really thought about selling the old/being removed ones! But that does make sense.
  6. Agreed 100%. As I have never heard of this brand, I wanted to check with people before making the assumption that they weren't worth the risk. Annoyingly they are not old at all and have plenty of tread left on them. Seems a shame to waste that (financially) but you can't put a price on safety. I'll go with the Goodyear Asym 3's. For anyone else thats interested currently £85 with Tyres on the Drive (each) and £65 cash back if you buy 4. Thanks very much everyone; much appreciated! I assume the TPMS system is passive ABS type as I cannot find sensors when I scan them. So a quick reset through the car would fix that. On a secondary note with the tyres, does anyone find wear its worth ever rotating tyres (front/back mainly)?
  7. Hi Everyone, I am looking for some experienced advice on tyre choice for my 15 plate vRS estate. I bought the car a few months back and it was previously owned by Skoda Finance as what I was told as a "Rep-mobile". Mainly motorway mileage and so it seems budget tyres have been used. They are branded as Jinyu. I have the 225/40, R18's. I am just wondering what people wold recommend? I dont do alot of motorway miles, I would say I did around 8k a year, mainly back roads (to and from work) with the occasional family holiday up the M6 into the lakes! In the past, on my smaller cars, I went with Pirelli, but I know these wear quite quickly in my experience. Is it worth paying the £100 or so per tyre to put Pirelli or Conti (high-end) on, or do people have good experiences with Nexen (mid range) or even the budget ranges? I do find the ones I have struggle a little in the wet and dry when pulling away; but as this is the most powerful vehicle (BHP and Torque-wise) I have owned I am not sure if thats just the nature of the beast if you know what I mean, Anyway, looking forward to your thoughts,
  8. Looks Fantastic @WaHoo I went for the Black one - same result; the Mrs loves it!
  9. 2 months will fly by; just you wait! Either that or it may feel like 2 years... hah. On the plus side, its the best car I have owned to date. That being said, my past car history has a lot of Fords and even a Vauhxall! Like comparing apples with oranges it now seems.
  10. Picked myself up a 2015 Octavia Estate 2.0L Diesel vRS. Had it over the bank holiday weekend, so far I am loving it.
  11. Hi All, Having just bought a Octavia Estate vRS, 2015 model; I had a quick look online for a forum to join to share experiences and hopefully learn something along the way! I have had Fords (am I allowed to say that?!) for the last 10 years, which was mainly due to finances, and finally managed to make my savings stretch conviced the missus into buying a Skoda. With a growing family the Octavia Estate seemed like a logical choice! I am picking the motor up tomorrow, very excited about it. If anyone has any tips or things I should look out for please let me know, thanks in advance Mark
