  1. Don't worry Briskoda people I have found that the oil separator located below the water pump is just a lump of plastic, no moving parts, so I have left the old one in place. Don't imagine it ever needs replacing unless it gets smashed. Thanks.
  2. Hi Briskoda People, I have an Octavia MK2 1.8TSI 2012 reg, with 85K miles and recently I replaced the crankcase ventilation unit (PCV) on the top of the engine using part from Febi Bilstein (no: 170879). I have also found reference to another crankcase breather/oil trap on the side of the engine below the water pump (replacement part Febi Bilstein 104966) Can anyone pls advise what different purposes these two parts perform and tell me if it is worth replacing the one below the water pump? What symptoms are experienced when this lower crankcase breather fails? If the PCV is replaced, should the lower crankcase breather be replaced at the same time? I tried searching the site without success but if you know a thread that answers this pls post here. Thanks
