Roomster MOT pass with defects, advice needed
Having looked under the car today to take the pics I'm slightly worried about the drive shaft on the drivers side. The one above passenger side looks fine, but drivers side is looking very rusted and has a crack on the surface. Attached more detail pics Is just this a surface coating rust and crack looking at it? or something more serious? Of course I will ask the garge. Can you just replace once side? Thanks

Roomster MOT pass with defects, advice needed
2008 Roomster MOT just passed but with minor defects: * Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated nearside and offside front * Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot severely deteriorated offside front OUTER Monitor and repair if necessary (advisory): * suspension arm pin or brush worn but not resulting in excessive movement nearside front I'm not sure what all those things mean not being a home car mechanic, so have been doing some googling. Money is a bit tight at the moment, I asked the garage if any of them are super urgent and will result in breakdown or failure in short term, they said no. We are a one car family that is essential to our weekly school runs, so I need to keep the old girl running. The first two, from watching youtube are covers to parts right, so if they are split then grease will get out and dirt in which will make those parts fail? Just want to be armed with knowledge before I go back and discuss which repairs to do. It’s due a minor service too, so maybe do it all in one day. I've read the cv boot you want a proper one not a split one which doesn't last as long? Our front suspension does make a knocking noise when you go over a speed bump, if its a steep bump. The advisory "suspension arm pin or brush worn but not resulting in excessive movement nearside front" I'm not entirely sure what that does and if it can be left until next year? Thanks Photos show offside drive cv boot and rollbar joint dust cover.

A couple of aircon issues / questions
Our 2008 Skoda Roomster, the aircon or fan only seem to blow on setting 3 or 4 (full blast), not 1 or 2. What could the issue be? Also we are starting to get a high pitched squeeking noise from the fan that comes and goes whilst in use. Ball bearings or motor maybe? How can you tell if your aircon needs regassing? Is it only if its not blowing cold? We had this mouldy sort of smell from the aircon, I've tried a Autoglym AS150 Air-Con Sanitiser spray, which does seem to have helped a bit. What else could I do? Thanks

Roomster mk1 overheating issue
Silly question but how would I know this? Should the radiator fan only come on when the car is driving or in idle? Only when the radiator is hot? Thanks

Roomster mk1 overheating issue
Hi Will take the car to garage, but wondered if anyone had any thoughts before, so I know what to discuss with them. When sat in a traffic queue, if you end up being there for 5-10 mins (slowly creeping forwards), the coolant overheating light comes on. The coolant level is ok, although it had been topped up with just water when the level was going down a bit so its not pure coolant. Aside from draining and replacing the coolant, what else should I look into? Fans? Sensors? Thanks Chris

Smaller aerial on 2008 Roomster?
Can you easily replace the aerial with a shorter one? Will it effect the signal quality much? Do they just unscrew and screw a new one on, or more work involved? To allow for a longer roofbox (see pic attached). thanks

Rear passenger door issue on 2008 Roomster
The rear passenger door has been a pain lately, sometimes it won't open from the outside but will from the inside. Now when you lock with central locking, this door won't lock. Saw on here some posts about door loom wiring, garage have said could be the catch as is common on these. Unfortunatey taken to garage and the issue isn't showing up, door is locking/unlocking fine. Intermittent issue. Any thoughts? Thanks
