  1. Had the same problem on my petrol 2017 MY18 RS169 at 24,000 kms. Whilst dealer wouldn't confirm it is a common fault, they didn't deny it either. I'm just wondering how long the replacement will last. If it's the same as the first then it will be in it's sixth year and out of warranty :-(
  2. Had exactly the same problem a while ago. It was the battery. Changing the battery from my functioning key to the dead one didn't fix the problem. I thought it was a faulty keyfob so went to the dealer. They put in a new battery and all was good again. Skoda dealer had no idea why a battery worked fine in one fob but not the other. Just because a battery tests as having a 'good' voltage doesn't mean it is healthy. Get yourself a new good quality battery and it will most likely work fine again. The red light that shows when pressed simply shows that the fob is working and sending a signal. If there is no light when pressed then there is no signal and so not working. From my knowledge you don't get any warning for a battery in a keyfob deteriorating. I guess that's why they also put a key in it 🙂
  3. Pleased to hear that for you. Unfortunately my MY18 VRS seems to have the old pump problem. It is leaking from the thermostat and has to be replaced. And my driver seat has to have the seat module replaced.
  4. My 2017 VRS 169 facelift with 24K kilometres started losing coolant a month or so ago and now needs to be topped up from under minimum to maximum every fortnight whilst not doing a lot of k's. It is going in for service/check up tomorrow and I am hopeful that it is just a loose water hose but we will see. Last week my powered drivers seat stopped functioning so that is getting looked at as well. Will let you know the verdict on the coolant issue.
  5. Sorry, missed that you couldn't actually download the maps You don't download maps to sd card, rather you download to your mac then unzip the files (I use keka to unzip but there are many extraction progs) then as per previous post to get them on the card.
  6. Just updated mine here using Mac. Format sd card in ex fat format drop the 2 unzipped folders and the 1 file onto the sd card remove the sd card from the Mac (just pull it out and don't use Mac eject command) Don't lock the cards read/write this worked for me after many failures.
  7. Tks. I didn't know that! With my very poor 'trailer' backing skills I am looking forward to testing that out!
  8. This one might be worth a look at. https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/SKODA-Octavia-2015/OAG-AD-16080496/?Cr=1
  9. It's hard to compare the Alfa with a VRS here in Sydney. The Alfa is $79,000 drive away whereas the VRS is $52,000 drive away. So for the price of the Alfa I can have my VRS fully optioned plus a Fabia Monte Carlo .....easy choice ;-)
  10. I have never tried the auto park feature in my 5 months of ownership but having read all the posts it might be time for me to give it a try :-)
  11. Interesting. My RS169 MY18 hatchback has the phonebox. The salesperson told me that it didn't come with phonebox when I bought it. I saw the wireless charging icon greyed out on my Columbus so took him at his word. then when I put my phone in the tray it started charging and the icon lit up. I'm not convinced that it improves reception though.
  12. Is easy entry/exit with memory seats an option with the fl vrs? tks
  13. @Gerrycan. I agree with your comments. I think you should stand by your original comment about 'presence' simply because many seem to mistake my Octavia for being a Commodore until they see the 'badge'. At 70 I went for the RS because life is shorter now than it once was and it is nice to have that little extra under the bonnet with some (maybe that should read most) of the 'drivers' we have here in Sydney! :-)
  14. I can only speak for my 4 month old VRS MY18. Quiet as I could want it in Comfort mode and noisy as I would like in sports mode, and that's on our less than 'quality' NSW roads :-)
