Driver’s door wiring loom question
Shortly after fitting a new window regulator the car stalled and would not re-start. Seeing as I had been working in that area I checked the door loom and found that if I wiggled it I could get the engine to start. On closer inspection one wire had pulled out and the insulation on several others was damaged so it is possible that other wires were shorting out or broken. I called the RAC and after a long 6hr wait they arrived after I had to find another way of getting to work. They dismissed my observation regarding the door loom and instead left this report; vehicle stalled and would not restart on arrival tried to start but battery flat carried out checks and found earth terminal on battery loose have tightened and applied jump pack and vehicle just cranks over. carried out RAC scan see attached. tried cranking again and vehicle started and ran rough also noticed popping back through air intake. have turned off and vehicle starts every time but runs rough. member not hear to ask questions only wife and she said engine has always sounded rough. have suggested further garage attention, check cam wear and timing belt. but member not hear to make decisions. wife said to leave it as husband will sort it? no further action required. My wife was under the impression that he had diagnosed a problem that he would describe in the report and that I could then drive the car to a garage to get it resolved. The next day after running the car for 15 minutes it would not restart - presumably with the same problem. I was wondering if it is actually possible for a short/break in a wire in the door loom to stop the engine starting? Also if anyone could suggest anything else to check? The starter motor runs fine for multiple attempts at starting, there is fuel (diesel) and the fuel pump seems to be working fine. Any suggestions on where to start would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Can someone please help with a part number?
I.e. this part for my vehicle https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/5j0971120bl-electrical-wiring-installation-bundle-for-diver-s-door-skoda-21827.html The wires in the door loom are broken and if I wiggle it the fuel pump, window & central locking all stop working so I need to replace it asap!

Finding exact part number for window regulator
Thanks very much for your help! It is the mechanicals that need replacing - but I guess I could replace everything if it’s easier to get both together. The VIN is: TMBGF25J993047937

Finding exact part number for window regulator
I’m trying to find the correct part number for a front driver side window regulator for an 08 plate Fabia greenline estate. There seems to be two types - one with a single cable and one with a double. I can provide the VIN if anyone is able to look it up for me? Thank you!

Water ingress affecting wiring in driver side footwell?
The driver’s side footwell of my Fabia got soaked due to a broken window and this led to numerous electrical issues that resolved themselves when I pulled the carpet up and allowed the area to dry out over a couple of days. It has now happened again due to the window being left open. Can anyone suggest what specifically is likely to have got wet and needs drying out, so that I can speed the drying process up? I.e. I was wondering if there are any cables or electrical components in the footwell beneath the carpet that will need uncovering and properly drying out? Thanks in advance!

Engine continues to run when key removed
Thanks for the help @Crasher… I’ve managed to get it to stop with the key, but the ignition then suddenly came back on when the car was parked and the key not in the ignition. Would this still point towards an issue with the switch you suggested? TIA

Engine continues to run when key removed
My neighbour alerted me to the fact that the car radio was on so I went out to turn it off and the door would not unlock using the fob. I opened it with the key and tried starting the car, which started first time with no problem. I then tried to turn it off and even though the key was removed the engine continued running. The only way I can stop the engine running is by stalling it, but even with the key removed the battery and handbrake lights are still illuminated on the dashboard. I presume this means that the ignition switch is somehow stuck in the on position? Can anyone suggest a solution I can try to resolve this myself? The RAC have said there is currently a four hour wait… TIA.

Can you buy individual bulb holders for rear lights?
Is it possible to source/replace a single corroded rear light bulb holder or do you need to buy the complete loom? Thanks, Ben
