  1. Apologies for only just seeing this, the only issue I had was the brake hoses needed swapping which I eluded to in a previous post. Having read more of your posts I'm glad you managed to get it sorted. I've now done a few thousand miles and another trip to Nurburgring since the upgrades and I'm still impressed by the 340/310mm setup, considering I sold the original callipers the upgrade didn't cost much either.
  2. Yes you need to change the brakes hoses as well as they have a different fitting on the end and are a different length. Below are the Numbers I used and had no trouble with (ie everything has bolted on and the car stops) I found a Kit supplied by B and B components in Maidstone via their eBay page for all of the rear hoses, pipes and clips for £36 I went and collected of them because I was in a hurry and didn't want to wait for postage and they're nice and friendly group of guys there, and worth me recommending IMHO. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK5-MK6-AUDI-A3-TT-TOURAN-REAR-BRAKE-HOSES-PIPES-CLIPS-A1291/202170262960?hash=item2f124965b0:g:8MYAAOSwTO9aS2k2:rk:1:pf:0
  3. Yep well spotted, typo or brain fart not sure but the ones I bought were off a 2008 mk5
  4. yes the one for the cruise control, just under the indicator stalk
  5. MY65 VRS with Adaptive cruise control I can adjust in 1's and 5's. if I Pull the stalk towards me it goes up 1 if I nudge the stalk up it goes up to the nearest 5/or by 5.
  6. HI All, First off this isn't going to be the best written piece but I wanted to share my experience having upgraded my brakes all-round recently. I started with the front brakes and 1500 miles later did the rear brakes so I could assess the impact of each upgrade and I have to say both made massive improvements A quick google gad told me I was unlucky enough to have the 312mm front disc setup as opposed to the 340mm on the slightly earlier VRS's (Mine is Jan 2016, around about when the change was mid flow) So I upped to the 340mm setup and all I needed was the bigger callipers and callipers carriers along with proper Discs and Pads (EBC Redstuff pads and EBC Ultimax Grooved discs) and after bleeding the brakes and then letting them bed in the improvement was phenomenal in every regard. The rear 272mm Solid disc setup looked abysmal and I still wanted to get what I could out of the system so I decided to fit the 310mm Vented disc setup off the mk6 Golf R32. This end of the car was a little more annoying as Golf callipers are blue but VRS ones are red, so I currently had red front brakes and blue rear brakes, so I spent a couple of afternoons painting my new callipers and carriers red. In terms of what was required mechanically for the change you need: R32 Callipers and Carriers, R32 Rear brake Hoses, Pipes and 4 clips (2 clips for each side) Again I used EBC red stuff pads and EBC Ultimax Grooved discs and after bleeding the brakes and letting the new pads bed in, again what an improvement. Now time to talk money. My discs and pads were in need of changing all round so the money I paid for these I won't count (best time to change brakes is when they're worn out ) but they came to £539. The callipers & carriers came to £425 off Ebay and I got the rear brake hose, pipes & clips from a store in Maidstone for £35 So basically cost me £1000 but I have 4 callipers and carriers to go onto bay to get some of that money back and I can honestly say it was worth every penny. I'll put a couple of pics up for you to enjoy.
  7. Just had my car serviced and MOT'd by Skoda Yesterday and it states 4.7 ltrs of oil on the worksheet
  8. I had my windscreen changed a little over 2 years ago when the car wasn't even a year old by Autoglass (insurance Job) due to a rather large chip. I got speaking to the manager there and he said the calibration was needed for the Adaptive cruise control/emergency braking by reason that there are two sensors looking forward detecting objects and because they are in different positions relative to each other they can work out distance and closing distance quicker than it could with one sensor. Therefore it stands to reason that getting it calibrated would be a very worthwhile thing to do. At no point did the lane assist get mentioned.
  9. I've got the 4wd 184 VRS and have two answers to this topic; answer 1 - I achieve 50 something on the occasions I can be bothered to behave for long enough and theres no traffic or I'm cruising along the motorway answer 2 - I tend to not get past mid 30's due to me enjoying my driving around
  10. Should also mention I can find the mechanical handbrake in the Golf Mk5 and 6 variants but do these fit? As the 2016 VRS is the equivalent of a mk7. Again Many Thanks
  11. HI Folks, I want to upgrade the rear brake setup from the 272mm solid discs on my 2016 VRS and I've found loads of kits online to upgrade to the 310mmx22mm vented disc setup but they are all with electric handbrake callipers. So what I want to know is can you get the 310mm vented disc setup with a proper manual handbrake? Below is an example of what I'm finding online. Any info or input is much appreciated.
  12. Last year at the Nurburgring 4wd & DSG worked a treat
  13. I was bored yesterday and had a spare hour so went down to my local Skoda and they've just emailed me back. To go from the 312mm to the 340mm setup you need (all prices including VAT): 2 x new calipers £162.70 each 2 x new caliper carriers £118.26 each 2 x cover plates £15.94 each So looking at £593.80, then obviously the bigger discs and pads which are £336.56 from EBC, so total cost would be £930.36. £930 minus £283 (Cost for same but 312mm size discs and pads) means I need £647 so upgrade to the 340mm's I could recoup some fo the costs be selling 312mm callipers but I wouldn't imagine they sell for much. My friend has a 2009 Leon with the 345mm setup and he's upgrading those so thinking I might buy them off him and see how I go about getting those to fit?
