Tested again and they do appear to be live all the time... Did some searching on this forum (should have tried harder first time at searching!) and found someone else who used fuse 35 (diagnostic connector, camera, radar sensor, voltage stabiliser for taxi vehicles) is also switched and no interference with adapter so have used that and camera now working perfectly

I did think that as well... As I was convinced Phonebox was off till I turned ignition on to confirm voltage then turned off again and it was still live. Thought maybe I'd just mismeasured it the first time and it was always live... Tried locking car and going back later and it was still live so perhaps I didn't leave it long enough... Some of them seem really odd ones to have live when ignition is off! Will have to have another go later...

Revisiting this topic as currently trying to piggyback onto the fuse box for my dash cam... 1) I've checked many fuses (all the ones I'm brave enough to pull out to put multimeter in) and so far the only fuse I can find that is switched with ignition is rear wiper. Others that I expected to see switched included rear camera, heated seats , phonebox and trailer hitch but all seem to be live with ignition off..... 2) The piggyback fuse adaptor that I have (which appears to be a standard size) doesn't fit flush into the rear wiper fuse because the electric seat fuse sits higher than a "standard" fuse and so I can get the piggyback adaptor in, but not convinced it won't work it's way out over time with vibrations as it's not fully seated 3) Other fuses for options I don't have (and so empty) that may be swtiched don't appear to have both live and return connections inside the fuse box so no point trying to tap in there... Any ideas / suggestions??

Planning on using a piggyback fuse to install my dashcam onto a switched live, happy with how it works and how to install right up to idiot question... Where does the ground/return go? I had a quick look tonight at fusebox and can't seen anything obvious in there to ground on so is it a case of attaching to bare metal of car and then if that is the case, where do you do it? Do I need a c-shape crimp and a bolt/screw somewhere on body?

I've got car set to manual assignment of keys. One is assigned to my profile, the other to the wife. On opening door, seat and mirrors move to position of whoevers key opened the door. You will always get the welcome message with choice of names in dash. So technically I could open car with the wife's key, jump in and change profile to me but next time her key would still set car to her profile.

Go into settings, personalisation and you can assign keys to profiles. If automatic it will save active profile to whichever key locks car and the apply that profile when unlocked. I prefer to have it on manual, then you can assign a key to profile. It will ask you to press unlock button on key you want, and you can do all keys in one go. Now I have a key and the misses has another and it has worked seamlessly!

My 220 2.0TSI L&K also has it, but not all the time.... Think it happens more on cold start? I thought it sounds like the starter motor running too long, but that wouldn't explain why I only hear it occasionally

If you push and hold the lock button on the key, it will shut all windows and the sunroof. Not seen anything about an already locked car automatically deciding to shut the sunroof if it rains though....

Yeah but that's kinda the point.... If you've got a gap of 25m on a 30mph that's really not enough space to get out, regardless of DGS / stop start / car make etc as that would be the highway code definition of safe distance... I would argue that it wouldn't be safe to pull out anyway as you are likely to make the car you're out in front of have to brake... The 2.0 TSI is quoted at a 0-30mph of 3.8s but you've only got a 2s gap to pull out into... FWIW I'm not disagreeing that the delay for engine to fire up and car get going isn't great, but if auto hold is on then car doesn't know you want to go till the loud pedal gets pushed and it takes a moment for the engine to fire up... with a combustion engine I don't see any way around that? I simply account for that when pulling off, or turn off start stop or auto hold to get quicker response. I'd say the car (in my limited mileage so far) behaves consistently, so it's not like it's a surprise or anything when it does it. +1 on the lane assist, really weird to have the car fight you but I love it on the commute in crawling traffic!

I had a play with S/S on my way home from work - couple of opinions follow 1) I found when braking to a stop from significant speed, yes it does cut out at 1 or 2mph. But my foot is already on the brake, and I'm not turning at a significant angle so lack of power steering is unimportant. Also, on my manual 2014 320d, if I had the car in neutral whilst moving (for instance rolling down hill in stop start traffic) it would also cut out before coming to a complete stop. 2) In crawling traffic, engine would not cut out until at a standstill. 3) Turning off auto hold improves the behaviour - in the sense that releasing the brake causes engine to start, so you get immediate power from accelerating. For those that complain the delay when pulling away is dangerous - (controversial comment follows...) perhaps if that gap is that tight then you shouldn't be pulling out anyway P.s. I realise it's not always that clear cut, but it's worth thinking about!

Picked mine up end of Jan, can confirm tow bar is same as video with a "pull to release" switch. It's pretty flush with rest of boot trim, can't see anything catching it unless you're really careless!

Picking up my Superb on Friday. Based on what I have read on this forum, and knowing I will do 12-15k per year, of which the bulk of miles will be motorway / longer journeys I told the dealer I didn't want a service plan as I want the car to be on variable service as per Skoda guidelines. Got an email back saying he would send it in to be set to variable..... So looks like someone changed it without asking me?? Naughty Skoda dealer!

I need some good sunshades for the rear for the little dude but haven't had a good look around yet... Where did you get them from out of interest?

Are any services required for SOS, service button etc required? On my 3 series I had SOS and info call options (like telstar I'm US) where I could callamd ask for directions to a nearby hotel, nearest Italian restaurant etc but all this required active contract with BMW connect, free for three years then a paid subscription...

If the pedal box works how others have described then I guess the "lag" is actually first few % of throttle makes no noticeable difference to engine power, but with a pedal box that amplifies signal that fist few % now looks like 15% and so car responds as such. I imagine what it is doing isn't dissimilar to doing tone curves in photo editing, changing a straight line response into a number of curves to improve perception. I haven't collected mine yet, but I've had several different makes of car and all have little quirks in how they drive, surely adapting your driving style to a new car is better than spending money on kit to modify? If it's just a case of pushing the pedal a bit further then after a few weeks that's what you do and no lag is noticed anymore? (I of course stand to be corrected and eat my hat in a week when I collect!)

Not fussed about cleaning before collection, detailer has said regardless will spend first half a day doing several chemical and clay cleans before 1.5 days polishing out all the factory swirls and paint finish fixes. Figure a quick clean by dealer won't make that any worse Can't wait for it to look like yours!

Yeah I did get annoyed at how they are parking it at first, but it's going to do a 200 mile journey on Friday then pretty much straight into detailer so on reflection decided doesn't matter if it gets a little dirty on the outside as they will clean before collection so I can check for any damage. As for inside, I thought it looks like there is a plastic film in the footwell? If anything glad they sent pictures like this, means I know to check the inside thoroughly for any dirt

First pics from dealer, exactly one week till collection! Although I've already arranged to give it up for two days following the weekend to go into a detailer to apply bodywork, windscreen and interior protection!! Waiting since September... It's going to be a real struggle to give it up so soon!

I'm collecting mine next week (built start of the year) so would be interested to know when (if??) they have put any new parts into the production line!

I'm no car mechanic, but if the sound is from both sides I don't see any value in swapping them over? If you had a rattle one side but not the other then I would understand...!

Thanks for the replies. I found the salesguys in Letchworth hard work - they never replied to emails unless I followed up, when I collected the test drive the salesguy who said "ask for me" actually never worked Fridays, when I asked about making an appointment to run through numbers when I dropped it off I got the reply "well if one of us is free we will help, otherwise you can just email us" and when I did talk numbers they rubbished carwow and said they didn't use it as it pushed prices up... but still couldn't get close to the best number I was quoted through carwow And I know for a fact that they didn't verify my driving licence before picking the car up which is a little worrying... It sounds like all three of my nearest dealers are a mixed bag, so might as well start with the nearest and work my way out... Hopefully the service dept is better than sales, plus it's going to be a while before first service anyway as I don't even have the car yet!

So the new car is FINALLY on a ship on it's way to the UK... Ordered late Sept and was told unconfirmed build date middle Nov for delivery mid to late December. Build date came and went and took another two weeks for dealer to find out that there was a shortage of parts for phonebox with wireless charging and build date slipped back to Feb then came forward to start of Jan... Complaining isn't going very far - but seriously with an approx 8 week time between order and build how could they not get supply chain / parts in place? Or at least be able to tell me before the build week in Nov that it would be delayed? Anyway I digress... I'm collecting car from Horton in Lincoln but my nearest dealers will be Progress Letchworth, Progress Harlow and Citigate Watford. When I did the three day test drive I found Letchworth salesguys to be an absolute bunch of muppets and got some quite rude emails back when trying to negotiate a deal vs carwow. It doesn't inspire confidence in me for their service dept and so looking to take my business elsewhere... wondering if Harlow will be just as useless as it's the same franchise? Anyone used these and can offer any good/bad stories? If the service dept at Letchworth is good then they might win me back, as it is the easiest to get to!
