  1. I did try and get another independent garage (VM/Skoda specialist) to have a look at it but they basically said they'd be going back to basics and potentially re-doing what the original garage had done and wouldn't give a ball park figure. They did give me some Skoda documents that suggested the first garage were right in their thinking about the variable valve timing sprocket being the cause. In hindsight I should have took it to Skoda, presumably they wouldn't have charged me on a time and materials basis like the indy's did. You win some, you lose some 🙂
  2. Never did get to the bottom of this fault, but drove the car another 1200 miles without further issues other than the visible warning lights. Garage reckoned the next thing to try was to change the variable valve timing adjuster/sprocket - a £450 part + labour with no guarantee of it fixing the fault. Decided to cut my losses and avoid further hassle so sold the car on as is. Was a great car for 8 years, shame about the last few months.
  3. Hi All Had an Octavia Scout 2.0 diesel (CRMB engine) since new in 2015 and now racked up 87000 miles. Its just had its first major issue: P001600: Crankshaft Position-Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor A Error Type 2: Active/Static Symptom: 4096 Status: 11101101 Check Exhaust System light came on (amber) one morning, car seems to drive fine, very occasionally a slight delay in starting but nothing that warranted a trip to the garage. Been looked after by the same garage for last 5 years (non-Skoka) but they are struggling to find the cause and I've already racked up a large bill. So far its had: - Cam shaft timing checked - no issues - New timing belt kit (done whilst investigating this issue to save it being done early next year when due again) - New oil + filters - New cam + crank shaft position sensors - Replaced variable valve timing valve + solenoid & modified camshaft housing (Technical Product Information 2044489/5) Given the cam/crankshaft timing error have been advised not to drive car in case of further damage. So only done a few miles but seems fine at low revs, although amber glow plug light comes on after 5 minutes. Next step is to try Technical Product Info 2046974/2 - relates to engine wiring harness damage from leaning on edges of the charge air cooler damaging wires/conductors. The P001600 error is listed against this TPI. Anyone had this or similar and what was the fix ? Thanks John
