  1. Treat yourself for Xmas! I'm open to offers on this, no reasonable offer refused so get in touch! I'm selling my Dension Gateway Lite BT unit. It connects to the Stream audio head unit and allows bluetooth connectivity with your phone, I used it in my 2005 Octavia 2 for streaming audio via bluetooth from my phone (Amazon music, BBC sounds etc) through the car audio system. Essentially it plugs in where the CD changer would normally connect on the back on the head unit, so the the headunit is folled into thinking it's playing a CD. It's an easy DIY to install, and once the connection is set up to your phone it will reconnect automatically each time you get in the car and start the ignition. A brilliant piece of kit if your Skoda doesn't have bluetooth built in. When I bought it from Car Communications, it was listed as model number GBL3SK1/A2DP. The unit itself shows the number GBL-8510-83 and it came packaged with cable CAB-SK1-1, which I believe is what makes it specific to Skoda's Stream head unit. More info at the link below: https://www.carcommunications.co.uk/dension-gateway-lite-bt-gbl3sk1a2dp-non-text-skoda-ipod-iphoneusbauxbluetooth-interface-adaptor Installation guide User guide It originally came with a microphone which I never used and have now misplaced (I only wanted audio streaming, I never set it up for hands free phone calls). If you wanted to use it for calls, you'd need to get a mirophone, but it's a standard jack connector so any generic mic should do the job. I also have the optional ipod/Iphone connector cable IPDC1GW (the old style wide Ipod classic type connector), which I'll include in the sale. Reason for sale is that I no longer have the Octavia, otherwise I would not be parting with this brilliant piece of kit. Price delivered £65 I'm open to offers on this, no reasonable offer refused so get in touch! Thanks for looking!
  2. Just close this out I bought a G263 sensor from a dealer for £29, part number K1K0907543G. Easily fitted (once I'd figured out the trim removal), and it has definitely fixed the problem.
  3. Knowledge is power when it comes to these kinds of jobs! For the benefit of others the process went as follows: I loosened the plastic trim holding the gearstick gaiter (no screws - just clipped on place, some gentle teasing loosened it). This revealed the two ashtray screws, allowing removal of the ashtray. In the ashtray cavity there are two more screws holding on the left and ride side panels. I had already removed the side panel screw in the footwell, so the panel just needed a bit of teasing to come off (it seemed to work by swinging the panel outwards, as if hinged at the top, then pushing forwards and it came away). For the sensor itself, remove the wire connector, then twist 90 degrees anticlockwise to remove. Very easy job done in 15 mins!
  4. Thanks, I'll go have another look when the rain stops! I assume the ashtray needs to come out to access the second screw
  5. I'm trying to change my evap sensor, which I believe is behind the lower side panel of the centre console (driver's side). Can anyone advise how this panel is removed? I've released the screw and tried sliding it forward as indicated in the attached diagram. But the footrest moulding is in the way! I'm resisting the temptation to just pull using brute force, need some advise please from someone who's already done this...
  6. I know what your saying but this is different. I was out in the car for a couple of hours today and when setting off I had lovely cold AC air, but after a while there was virtually no airflow through any of the vents even with the fan set to maximum. I could detect a tiny trickle of air icy cold with my hand pressed up to the vent, but something is stopping it from blowing into the cabin. I was sweating for the second half of the journey and had to open the windows, it's definitely a fault. It's been doing this for a month or two, but It's only a bother on long journeys. I was thinking perhaps it's a misbehaving flap but the posters above have described the exact same problem. I've got a 5hr round trip tomorrow so that'll be fun!
  7. Sorry to raise an old thread but I have the same problem as described earlier in this thread i.e. cold AC airflow starts fine then drops to a trickle after a while. Where I can get a G263 sensor from? Can anyone let me know the ordering details please (mines a 2004 Octavia mk2). Thanks
  8. Depends what you consider cheap, but I went for a Gateway Lite BT. At around £100 it's wasn't the cheapest option but I'm not a fan of FM transmitters, I wanted a permanent solution I could use seamlessly everyday. It's plug and play so an easy DIY install and works perfectly so to me was worth the expense.
  9. I went for a Dension Gateway Lite BT, installed it a couple of weeks ago. You have to use the mobile or ipod to select the music which is not ideal when on the move, but it seemed too much faff swapping the HU. It's a compromise, I might change my mind in a few months!
  10. Hi, I recently got an Octavia 2, it's an early 2004 pre-facelift with Stream HU. My old car had an Alpine HU with an Ipod Classic permanently connected, giving easy access to my entire music library from the HU controls and display. I want to do the same in the Octavia but keep it looking stock so considering perhaps something like a used Bolero with a Dension BT unit to connect the Ipod and perhaps also A2DP music from my Android phone as a bonus. I've started to read threads about swapping the HU which seems far from simple. If I'm understanding correctly I need to buy a canbus gateway and then find a garage to read the old vcds coding, then have them code the new gateway to avoid the battery draining. It's an old car and I' don't want to invest too much £££s so a newer HU + Dension + canbus gateway + coding is starting to sound expensive and a bit of a faff. Have I got this right or is their an easier way of going about this? Is there an idiots guide? Would an aftermarket HU be plug and play or is it the same issue? Sorry if this has been covered in old threads but I've used the search function and have found snippets of info in various threads, but I'm struggling to piece it all together coherently.
