  1. was indeed the Coolant temp sender. fitted the new one and the car behaved as it should. total cost about £12 and a hour of swearing to get to it, then 5 mins to fit. so if your car refuses to start when hot, reveals no fault codes and the oil light comes in over 3k rpm. then check the live temp, if its higher than it should be or reports mega high temps, then change it.
  2. Coolant temp sender has arrived. Now to find it and fit it. Hopefully it will allow the car to run once started.
  3. ok, so here now. vcds reports the following 006227 - Powertrain Data Bus P1853 - 000 - Implausible Message from ABS Controller Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 01100000 Fault Priority: 0 Fault Frequency: 254 Reset counter: 10 Mileage: 108397 km Time Indication: 0 Date: 2048.14.06 Time: 13:40:06 its also report the coolant temp sensor is at 101degrees and its stone cold , lol. it did initally start , but runs like crap. start i guess with the coolant temp sensor. and also check out the abs fault, which i dont think will prevent the start.
  4. Hi all. My dads Fabia 1.2 TSI 2011 DSG, has decided not to start. it started yesterday with a water level light. He stopped and checked and the water level was and is fine. when he got home he parked it and now it wont start. could be they are not related, however i don't think that's the case here as all was fine before the red water light came on. i'm due to pop over and read it with VCDS, but wondered if anyone has heard of this before ?
  5. Thanks Steve. Checked everything else this morning. All main body earth points ok. No cables seem to be broken. ECU communicates fine and no codes Going to turn the engine by hand and if all good, will throw a starter on it, it's the original starter so it may well be goosed. Fingers crossed.
  6. Thanks all. Will be checking main earth's later I'm hoping starter motor earth .. I am I'll report back what I find.
  7. hi there got call from my sister earlier. the car(Octavia estate pd 105 i think) that had been running fine, suddenly stopped in the drive through at mcdonalds. i went and took a look. oil was fine, water all there, no codes reported on vcds. cambelt intact . fusable links all good. belt in place on alternator etc. when you go to turn it, it clicks may be once. almost like a flat battery or a seized engine. i put a jump pack and it did turn over much more slowly may for 2 secs top. going to take battery off and check it for charge, but the lights up and it seems to be holding around 12.5 volts (a bit to low i think) has anyone had anything similar ? any earths to check that may be prone to failing ?? she has zero money, so i'm hoping its a easy fix. but suspect it may not be. thanks Jim
