DTC P0544 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor
So after fighting with this at lunchtime, I gave up and applied a bit of WD40 and left it for a few hours. Returned to it this evening and the thing was only finger tight, came straight out! 😎 Now off to the motorfactors in the morning to find a replacement. I almost caved this morning and called the mechanic, glad I didn't now.

DTC P0544 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor
Bought privately at a good price and no reason to assume this is anything other than bad luck. So I'll use some of that 2+ grand I saved over a dealer purchase to make amends!

DTC P0544 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor
This thing is a right pain to get at!! Had a quick play with the crows foot I received this morning but not going to be that simple! One of those jobs you need three hands in a space you can only fit one! Anyone else had this access issue and if so how did you get around it? Had a look in the service manual but it doesn't mention anything about disassembly of surrounding parts.

Next service at 70k What is needed Octy se l 2.0 tdi
Mine is a 63 plate on 71k and I've just had the cambelt and water pump done. I'm not sure but I think the intervals for later models may be longer but worth checking either way.

DTC P0544 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor
Hi all, I've recently sold my 14 plate 1.6 Yeti and purchased a 63 plate 2.0 Octavia 4x4 with 71k on the clock. Three weeks into ownership and I've had my first issue, a flashing glow plug light followed by engine light. 😅 I have a cheap OBD reader that links to phone app. From that I obtained DTC P0544 which relates to EGT sensor. Also, when I look at the live sensor data it shows EGT back 1 sensor 1 as 1000degC whilst the other two show more realistic temps. Basically it looks like the sensor has shorted out. The car is driving fine but the issue is that the PDF won't regen without proper temperature data from the sensor. After a bit of process of elimination, I'm pretty sure it's the one down the back of the engine. A right bugger to get at! I've ordered a 17mm crows foot to help removal. If that doesn't do it the mechanic can have it! 🙂 Just thought I'd post this A) to see if anyone has had the same experience and because after a lot of googling I can't find any Octy mk3 specific threads on it. Plenty of other VAG threads about though!
