  1. Answered my own question I assume the green thing is the radar gizmo
  2. where is the radar housing I have looked around the front from underneath and cant see anything. I get front assists impaired warning if I park near to long wet grass, it usually "resets itself" after about a mile driving home.
  3. False warnings are not the same as "sensor impaired" which indicates its not working at all , altering the distance at which it alarms will not stop the "impaired" error , you just wont get as many warnings. Looking at other forums for VW's etc its a pretty common problem , which I guess I will have to put up with
  4. Its not the fact that the front assist alarm is too sensitive , its the fact that the system turns off with the error "front assist system impaired" which means my ACC stops working . I could be ok with it not working in extreme weather conditions but spray on the motorway is pretty common in uk.
  5. Well had fun and games going to Birmingham yesterday in drizzle and rain , cruising at 70 on ACC car flashes red "BRAKE" warning and error of impaired front assist appears , OK couple of miles later it goes , in a 100mile trip it alarmed 11 times. I realise in the manual there are references to extreme conditions of snow and ice impairing the system but a bit of spray on the M6? I also get the system impaired error every time i go up with the dog to Beacon Fell which is a small forestry location , and park my car ( on tarmac) in parking area which is edged with 2ft high grass, the car does not touch the grass at all. After an hour or so I leave I immediately get the alarm which stays until i am half way home. I have had the system checked by SKODA and told there are no problems. Looking on other VW forums it appears this system is very prone to these errors. Any advise on whether it is worth pursuing a "repair"
  6. What makes it reboot? Recalling my early computer experience random reboots were usually cured by remaking connectors and replugging cards into motherboards.
  7. I had an alarming message appear when I started the car yesterday , first after the car started I noticed the screen was totally blank and an error message something like "emergency workshop now" , cant really remember exactly as after driving about 400 yds the system booted up as normal and the error went. It has never done it before has anyone else had a similar experience. I am a bit concerened as I am going on a long trip today.
  8. Thanks for the answer , you say your front shocks make a noise whereas your loaner didn’t , what sort of noise ?
  9. My 2018 Kodiaq Edition has developed an annoying squeak which has gradually got worse , I have attached an audio file from my phone placed on the ground in the garage whilst I rocked from side to side by standing on the rear door entry and gripping the roof bars and bouncing up and down ( I know!!) this was the only way I could get enough movement of the suspension without driving the car continually over a speed bump at slow speed , which is when I first noticed the squeak. I have DCC on the vehicle and the squeak is less when you select sport mode , mainly I think due to the suspension movement being more restricted. The audio file is with the DCC on comfort mode. I have yet to take the car back to the dealer as I wanted to get some evidence ( audio file) and ensure the squeak was getting worse. Anyone else out there experienced this? 10. On my previous VW Passat the sat nav gave a full listing of any route you had programmed. I cannot seem to get anything on the Columbus sat nav other than the first few directions. Is there anyway I can get the full list to scan through as per my VW?
  11. Many thanks for this ,I have actually got a kit now . However the existing carpet does not fit , I presume on the factory supplied kit on purchase (kicking myself) has the wheel visible under third third row of seats , my existing carpet goes over the top of the wheel and sticks up a bit, I can still lock the seats down but its a bit tight, It looks like I will have to cut a hole of some sort in the carpet.
  12. OK I have just checked and found the little gas struts on folding seats , Obviously I should have got it as an option but didn't !! There does not seem much room when I remove the useless pressurisation kit I got . does it stick up above the indent for the wheel much , but I guess the space under the third row is pretty useless anyway.
  13. I have a seven seat Kodiaq can I get a space saver wheel for it , there does not seem much room , I don't have the Canto sound system
  14. OK if I understand you right, all I needed to do was open and close the drivers door when I stopped and turned off the ignition ? What if I then relock the car for security if I want a snooze?
  15. I was waiting for some time at a railway station to pick up my daughter , the ignition was off but I had the apple play on for phone and music. The car was locked , after a while any movement would trigger the alarm , I obviously had the Kessy key and could reset it , but it would then relock and repeat the alarm when I moved. I could not get the car to stay unlocked without opening the door. I tried disabling the safelock as per manual but it didn't seem to work. I am sure there is something simple that I need to do . But I cant understand how the car can autolock with the key in it (and me)?
  16. I suspect your vehicle was already built in the system when it was ordered ,and did not get done as a factory build . I could have almost got one to the spec I wanted which was in the dealer system somewhere but it did not have DCC or the colour of seats which I wanted so its a factory build. You actually got about 8-9 weeks order to delivery so that doesn't usually happen on a factory order. Anyway well done , hope you enjoy it.
  17. Can I asked you what options you specified , as I think you may just have fallen lucky with a model that was in the pipe line for someone who changed or cancelled their order. I have actually changed mine two times now , engine , diesel to petrol and 5 to 7 seats , so will expect and accept the push back of my build , but the spec now is one i am happy with.
  18. The actual offer was one they have had for the past few months in three month stints , its the " test drive offer" where you get an extra £1000 of the price of the car if it is ordered delivered and registered within the specified time frame of the offer which in last one was 2nd Oct to be delivered and registered by 31 Dec , which is only 3 months so there is little chance that a factory build would occur , It took me 5 weeks to get a provisional build date , which was week 51 ( so not much chance of getting it delivered and registered by week 52) , this then went to week 3 of 2018 a week later , I believe the offer is designed to get you to buy the dealers in stock vehicles , which in my experience have had lots of extras I didn't want , to be fair to my dealer he did tell me there was little chance of getting the " extra 1000" and in fact I signed the contract order without it on but with a decent discount from the dealer.
  19. Well I have finally got my confirmed build week , which is week 3 of 2018 having ordered the car 10 Oct. (and having a provisional build week 51) The delay is due to "seat component problems", which may be related to andyvee's problem , but as you see there is no way I will get the "test drive discount"at best I will probably get the vehicle mid Feb if the build does not go back further.
  20. I ordered mine 10 Oct and the dealer made it clear that it had to be registered before end of Dec to get the £1000 test drive discount , but it was unlikely that it would be , at the moment I have a provisional week 51 build (which will probably go back) it is Skoda that gives the dealer the £1000 discount , on my contract with my dealer I got £3800 off (from the dealer) , plus the £1000 test drive that Skoda may give him, which in reality I doubt I will get , Skoda will most likely start another 3 months of test drive discounts after 31 Dec. but they are not transferable , as most factory builds are at least 12 weeks (unless you are really lucky) It is a way of getting you to buy the available "stock" cars that are in the system which might not be exactly what you want , also a fair amount of "stock" cars have a few expensive options , so cynically I think they do it to make more money.
  21. Sorry to here of your woes ! I think you are a victim of the modern manufacturing methods of "Just in time" , I would imagine the seats will be made by an external supplier and the assembly line will only have seats delivered for the actual shift that any car is due to be made ,and each seat will be allocated to a specific build , there are no stores or spares in the system anymore , the lead time on seat orders will be matched with all other components to build the car etc. To order an "extra" seat , which is not seen as a normal spare part will probably have no easy route on the manufacturing program , so I can understand why there has been so many delays , plus there have been all sorts of problems with supply of seats recently for the routine manufacture so I would guess your problem probably got little priority or "lost" in the system. It sounds ridiculous but it probably is easier for Skoda to build you another car!! but with a lot of options , you are at the mercy of the longest lead time item , I have ordered DCC for my car and the dealer warned me it would likely be a long lead time as the factory build very few of them with that option. I hope you get some sort of satisfactory resolution soon
  22. SD cards are very cheap now and you can download the latest maps from the Skoda website for free whilst the car is under warranty you just put your vin number in , you can have it done at a service bit they will charge for it , about £200 so its worth doing it yourself.
  23. Are these OEM mudflaps or third party?
  24. No experience with 1.5 petrol just 1.4 with DSG box , also 2.0TDI Passat with DSG , Although the petrol engine is quieter and produces the same power as the diesel you do notice a difference due to the torque , for a given acceleration the petrol engine will produce its power at greater revs than the diesel so on occasions will be in different gear than the diesel , as the petrol engine is smaller it has a higher level of "tuning" for the same power hence needs to work harder. The difference is more pronounced when the car is fully loaded the petrol vehicles performance will fall of more noticeably than the diesel
