  1. Thanks mate. I appreciate all the help from yourself and the gang.
  2. Well guys its been fun. The wife is picking up her new to her, Vauxhall mokka se (her choise not mine) on Friday and as part of the deal we've chopped in the 16 year old fabby. She's been a great car considering her age and has given me no more problems than any other car I've owned. A couple of rear bulbs, pads, discs 'n' drums, head lights and a new radio plus cd player. In fact she cost me £800 and the vauxhall dealer is giving the wife £800 for it. In return I'm having her 2008 mazda 3 sport. I'm going to be the second owner and its always been looked after by mazda so with a mere 70k on the clock I'm getting a good deal especially as its just been MOT'd and again nothing to report. So as of Friday I'll be a mazda man and the skoda will be just another picture in my photo album of the cars I've owned since 1986, starting with my Austin Maxi 1750hls. See ya all around.
  3. Same here have ordered parts from my local seat dealer. They were very pro active about helping even when I had a partial part number. Never any probs.
  4. LOL! Whats ya point? Looked brilliant on my mates escort and my Citroen xsara VTS and VTR. =-O:-)
  5. A few years back I fitted a simalar kit to a mazda 323F I had. It took a day to fit as you have take the door cards apart etc, but I just followed the include instructions and took my time. It worked first time and I had no problems at all. The kit I had did cost a little more thought but it was around 12 years ago. I'd say make sure any kit you by is Skoda suitable as it needs the right electrical connection and stuff.
  6. Thanks mate. Its the first time I've had a dead battery since my love machine (austin maxi 1750hls) genuinely broke down while I was punching above my weight with this gorgeous leggy 'bird' back in 86. She thought I was joking, but the 6 mile walk to a phone box along wet and muddy country lanes in pitch black while she was in her stilletos told her other wise. That was wires off or broken aswell from the alternator. I never dated her again. Mind the one I married wasnt put of by my lada niva and broken rear axel so I kept that one.
  7. Thanks for that link wino. Just been outnto the car with my daughter and got her to start pingu up. Ignition on battery light on start up car battery light goes off Check load with meter, nothing on or running in the car 14.45volts at 3k rpm went down to 14.26 volts when I turned on the lights, blower to max, rear screan and radio. Went back up as daughter turned stuff off and then settled at around 14.45 volts at 3k rpm Have just googled some images of this bugger of a wire and double checked that. It all seems spot on down there when I just had a quick look under the car. Seems like the battery is old stock as Yuasa have now up spec'd the new stuff to the one I've fitted. Seems mine just bit the dust. It's been bench charging for the best part of 4 hours now and the voltage has remained at a measely 12.2 volts which may not be enough to spark the mighty 8 valve into life today. Especially as my role is working in the community. I can leave home and drive 30 miles to my first call then the rest are only 1 mile apart, so it's start stop all day. The next day a mile to the first call and then yards to the next. Mind Ive been off work for 12 weeks now with various problems, and Ive only been out four or five times in the car. Again thanks . Funnily enough thenwifes mazda had a new battery fitted a couple of months ago. Same thing, she went out to the chippy, parked up came back 15 mins later dead as a door nail. Not even the click of the starter deader than a dead thing. A new Yuasa battery fitted by the AA but bouvht by me sorted it out no issues since.
  8. Old thread I know but the pics have now stopped working, any one able to re post them. Havent used my 2002 1.4 mpi fabby in over a week. Last time I used it I had the blower on max, rear screen on, wipers on, lights and stereo blaring away the weather was right crap. Parked in the garage and turned all of and left her. Today I jumped in and absolutely nothing on turning the key. Bonnet up and meter on the battery (little indicator was totally black, apparently meaning it needs recharging) the battery was reading a mere 11.9 to 12.0 volts. So put it on a charger for a few hours after which she started after a few attempts. Meter showing 14 something volts when on a high tick over (she was cold so on the choke sort of) bought a new Yuasa battery and fitted no issues at all. No lights on the dash, nothing saying it aint charging. Old battery has a sticker saying middle of 2014 as the manufacturer date but no other info. So I'm hoping it was just a duff battery. But I also want to check this cable in the previous thread chat. So pictures would be great.
  9. I know this sounds left field, but have you tried to open the boot by first opening and leaving open one of the other doors. I seem to remeber something about opening a boot by opening another door first. It was something to do with the solenoid signals.
  10. Generally speaking you only get one in a pack, but nothing to stop you from giving em a quick call to double check.
  11. Those look like mazda fitting. Easiest blades ive ever changed, slip off slip on.
  12. 3 bolts, two at the top and one at the bottom if memory serves me well.
  13. Pics of the wind deflectors or whats the damage?
  14. Had a similar thing on my last car, a 2001 honda crv. Turned out to be a rusted back plate on the NSF brake. It would only show up on pulling away. Nothing on normal driving just pulling away.
  15. Are the cheap fabia MK1 wind deflectors on ebay any good? Or does any body ahve a couple of fro t one for a 2002 mighty 8valve they want to part with at a reasonable price?
  16. Thanks Rual. I must have been the bottom clip as it would lean forward a little but then wouldnt budge any more. Got a few scrapes on my left hand but got there in the end. Great pics by the way.
  17. Well did mine a few hours ago. 2002 mpi UK spec car? Ok passenger side is a doddle. Remove glove box and you'll see the large hole as per raka pics. I found a little string around the end that screws to the door helps to pull it through. Drivers side, what a pain in the ass. I was unable to remove the lower dash panel so did this side as per the book. Removed the lower kick panel and you can reach up and feel the large hole. Its a pain to remove because as it comes through the hole it gets stuck in the sound deadening in the trim above the acceleration pedle. Keep cool and it will come out. Replacement is as slow but again with attached string you can pull it through. *** Leave the door end of latch folded up do not straighten it out. If you straighten it out there's not enough room for it to pass from the access hole and through the A pillar hole.*** Total time with cuppa and bowl of cereal 1.5 hours. Total cost inc delivery £30.35.
  18. Try this link to a pdf of the manual https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.octinfo.com/download.php%3Ffile%3Dmanual/fabia1/A04_Fabia_Symphony_CarRadio.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjb-Jvpq6HaAhVjC8AKHTW4B2IQFjABegQIBhAB&usg=AOvVaw2VeQX6z8xjQOxJbbiAsPcp
  19. Any way it could be just the loom to the injectors? I know it goes brittle over time as its oil? Just saying.
  20. Top guide. I need to replace both mine but they aint cheap over here in the UK. Only other thing is your a left hand drive so for us Brits it may be a little simpler. Top pictures too. :-) *** Just doubled checked some prices and have ordered 2 (right and left) from skodaparts.com***
