  1. The car arrived on Friday, so here are my initial thoughts after only a few miles behind the wheel: 1. Very comfortable and refined. Admittedly I'm coming from a Kia Proceed GT which had a lot of road and engine noise, but the vRS feels miles ahead in terms of comfort. I can see it being a great long-distance cruiser which will come in handy for some long trips with work in the next couple of months. 2. Incredibly comfortable seats. Much softer and yet more supportive than my previous car (which was its real weak point). 3. Dealers should do better with car prep. Ok it's only a lease car which was registered on the last day of November so may well have been left sitting outside for a while, but the window trims have green growth on them and the windows are still covered in marks presumably from the suckers that hold the glass during production. Front and rear windows need a proper clean inside. 4. Fake noise is actually not bad. The Kia was ridiculously loud - to the point of being bloody annoying as it was just a loud 4-pot so not even 'nice'. The vRS fake sound isn't anywhere near as intrusive and is actually quite pleasant. Don't get me wrong though, I'd prefer more real exhaust noise than fakery any day! 5. Infotainment has been fine so far. Still getting used to it - for example making my way around which of mine or my wife's phone should run car play when we're both in the car. For some reason the car is defaulting to her phone!
  2. Car confirmed for delivery on 5 Jan. Getting excited now! 😃
  3. Thanks! Yes I've seen quite a lot of media coverage of new cars' safety "features" such as lane assist and speeding bongs which happen when you go 1mph over the limit etc. The Kia is quite old-school in the sense that there is a touch screen but plenty of simple buttons for things like turning off lane assist and turning hill hold on (part of my pre-flight process every time I go anywhere!) Buttons also for climate, heated seats/steering wheel are great too even though the buttons themselves are pretty low rent. I'm sure I'll miss some of that simplicity. However, I am looking forward to an extra 45bhp and more space for the kids in the back. I'd be interested in hearing any parents' experiences of driving with their kids in the vRS with the sports seats - do they really obstruct the view out the front that much? Have your kids been car sick as a result? That's my only slight concern, but having said that, they'll appreciate the lighter interior compared to the low swoopy proceed roof. I'm also looking forward to better rear visibility as that's really poor in the Kia due to the low roofline and narrow rear window.
  4. Hi All, After a brief hiatus away from Skoda, I shall shortly be returning with a new Mk IV vRS DSG hatch in graphite grey. I managed to get a decent lease deal and I'm just waiting on the final paperwork and delivery timelines (it's in stock so shouldn't be too long to wait). I previously leased a Mk III vRS 245 DSG hatch in red back in 2018-2020, so I'm looking forward to seeing how Skoda have moved things on since then. Since the Skoda I spent two years with an Audi A4 Avant 35 TFSI black edition and currently I have a Kia Proceed GT. If you have any pointers for watchouts or things to be aware of vs. the MkIII, please do let me know. I'll post pics when the car arrives. Cheers, Jon
  5. Argh this does not look good. If that's what'll happen then I'd very much doubt my car would arrive before 15 March when my informal extension on my current lease has to end!
  6. Just chased my leasing company about the order I placed for a Sportline 1.5 DSG. Been advised that the dealer hasn't yet confirmed the order back with them as there's a new model/facelift to be released. Goodness knows what this will do to my estimated delivery date! Does anyone have any links to what the new update/facelift will consist of?
  7. Hi folks! I’m new to the party - I’ve just ordered a Karoq Sportline 1.5 TSI DSG in quartz grey on a decent lease deal. It’s a factory order and the quote stated it’s a 2021.25 car. No indications yet on delivery times but it was estimated as January when I received the quote last week. My current lease ends in December but I have the option to extend until 15 March. Fingers crossed all goes to plan! Got to say I’m actually quite looking forward to being back in a Skoda after I ran a new vrs Octy from 2018-2020. 🙂 Alas there are no good deals around that I could find for a new one of those right now. The wait begins!
  8. Current mileage is only 3,000! I've done much less than originally planned as I changed jobs and can walk to my office!
  9. Hi folks, I've had a reminder from my supplying dealer that my 245 DSG hatch is due for its first service soon, and to contact them to arrange it. Not gonna do that as they're 200 miles away, but anyway I checked in the car and it says oil service due in 8,100 miles or 89 days. This would be the car's first service as it arrived with me from new in the middle of last February. Is there a consensus of: a) when the first service should happen - is it within a certain time period after 12 months? If I wait another 89 days that'd be 14 months after it arrived! b) what sort of cost the first service should cost. My local Citygate garage had a £179 price online. Cheers!
  10. Yeah but needs must. The car's filthy and I've not got time to clean it myself at the moment. Ideally I'd clean it myself with the two bucket method etc. but chances are on the weekend I won't be able to get the parking spot outside my house either. My car's red so at least the swirl marks won't be so obvious than it would be on black.
  11. My 245 needs a bloody good wash. Not touched it since the summer last year I think. Shame on me, but having a toddler at home and street parking outside makes logistics of cleaning the car at the weekend a little troublesome. Car wash at local Morrissons on Saturday it is.
  12. Just found this video (thanks to Google) which shows someone replicating the exact same sound I'm hearing from my car. You need to listen with volume up to be able to hear it properly. It's clearest right near the end of the video after about 1 minute. Still none the wiser to what causes the issue though!
  13. Nothing obvious from a quick visual inspection but I'm no mechanic and so it's tricky to know what I'm even looking for! It's a really odd sound - not unpleasant like a grating or rattling, it's more like a 'wobbling' or 'bubbling' mechanical sound that lasts for a few seconds on low throttle inputs occasionally. I reckon it might be something to do with the exhaust. Perhaps something is loose and it's resonating at a certain frequency of revs. Car was new in Feb and only on about 3K miles.
  14. My VRS 245 DSG hatch is making an intermittent 'rattle' which sounds more like something mechanical wobbling - almost like the exhaust making slight burbles/pops. It appears to be coming from the rear nearside somewhere and can last for a few seconds at a time. I know the sound unfortunately isn't a fruity exhaust but it's disconcerting as it sounds like something is loose or broken. The sound appears intermittently at low revs at low speed - usually I think when the car is cold but I'm not 100% sure about that from memory. Anyone else experienced similar or have any ideas what it might be?
