  1. The Seat one is obviously much better value then. I'm not sure if the car's mileage makes much difference but mine is just over 30k.

  3. Interesting to hear about a possible recall. My Leon has been behaving itself for quite a while with no error messages appearing. Of course this doesn't mean the problem has gone away. My dealer warranty runs out at the end of next month so I'm considering buying a Seat Warranty for £320 which will give me full cover for another 12 months. I reckon that's pretty good value. If there is a recall would it be for all vehicles regardless of whether they are covered by a VAG warranty?
  4. But my car is a MY64 and covered by a non manufacturers warranty. There lies the difficulty as it's not Seat that needs to be convinced to foot the bill but someone else. I'm not prepared to keep paying £79 in the hope that an error code is found and that can then be used as proof for the warranty company to authorise the repair cost.
  5. As you can see earlier in the thread I've already tried and they couldn't find the error code. The same could happen again if I let them have the car. Forgot to mention earlier that they kindly left a scratch on my car. I used that as a way of getting them to waive the £79 bill that they were going to charge for the diagnostics. The scratch was minor so fortunately i could easily polish it out myself.
  6. The car has been behaving itself for several weeks but today the Error message flashed up again. It's up for less than a second so never any chance of getting a photo. In two minds what to do with the car as it is generally nice to drive and live with. Option 1 is keep it and get a Seat warranty from when the existing warranty runs out in Jan 2019. Option 2 is to swap it for another car. High on my list is the BMW 4 series Gran Coupe or one of the new Civic 1.5's. While the error message is annoying there appears to be nothing actually wrong with the car. Is this the case and if so what is ultimately likely to happen if the problem is just ignored?
  7. This could well explain the problem with finding the Error Code. Annoyingly I had to wait 3 weeks from my independent diagnostics test (the one that showed the error) to today's Seat Dealer diagnosis. Presumably if the error message appears again I need to get it to Seat ASAP?

  9. My problem though is that my car doesn't have a manufacturers warranty. The warranty I do have has been very good so far but they insist on the Seat dealership providing evidence of a problem and they can't seem to find that proof in the form of an error code. They gave me a print out to confirm that. Until the error message appears again there's not a lot I can do. The other thing is that my 12 month warranty runs out in January and it's highly unlikely I won't be driving around in a VAG car after that.
  10. So my Leon has just been into the local Seat Dealers and despite me taking every possible means of making sure they found an error code they have told me that no error codes were present. The car got a nice wash and valet but to be honest I was hoping for more for the sum £79. On top of that there inow a nice 25mm long scratch on the front bumper that wasn't there before. Currently waiting for a phone call from the service manage to explain this which should be difficult as a good set of photos were take on the car prior to them taking it in. My independent mechanic assures me that he did not delete the error code when he did the diagnostics so it's unclear what has happened. Could a car clear the code by itself?
  11. Bought the Leon in January. Since then it has had two new rear shock absorbers and top mounts. £260 A flappy paddle for the gear shift. £340 Now the gear selector problem.£??? Fortunately all these have been covered under warranty however that runs out in 4 months time hence starting to consider other options. Ironically I had a test drive in the Civic and got back in the Leon and thought, what a really nice car this is. Two minutes later there was a 'PING' and the error message flashed on yet again. It's time to swap!!!
  12. My Leon is now booked in with Seat. It's going to be a bit of a drag as it has to firstly go in so they can do their diagnostics and find out what is wrong. Even though I've already done that! Then it will have to go back in at some point for the actual work. Guess what. I've started looking at other cars starting with the new Civic.
  13. It's costs like that which will probably persuade me to sell the car before the warranty runs out. How many miles has your car done?
  14. Good News I've had the Leon on the diagnostics and it showed up this error.   15. Don't worry. I'm going to be like a dog with a bone on this matter! Fingers crossed I'll get a record of the error messages this afternoon.
  16. I've found a local VAG independent garage and he's going to do a diagnostics for me (just £15) this afternoon. I'm hoping he'll find the error codes and then I'll start the process of going to the Seat dealer and the warranty company.
  17. Just found this thread as I'm getting exactly the same error message on my MY64 Seat Leon 1.8 DSG. The car runs fine apart from hideous squeaky, groany suspension that should get a check during its MOT on Wednesday. Fortunately I have a very good and comprehensive warranty with the car so I'm confident the error message problem should get sorted. My concern though is getting the warranty company to believe there is a problem as they may insist on seeing evidence of the error message. There may well be some error messages logged in the cars ECU however it will be a lot of hassle to get the car booked in to initially find this out. Is it possible for me to get into the car's system to find out if there are any problems logged. I presume I need a VCDS cable to do this? I don't want to invest too much in this so am I right in thinking one of these would suffice? Any other advice or information would be much appreciated.   18. I've seen videos on Youtube about using a heatgun or hairdryer to remove creases/indentations like this. After I raised the matter with the dealer he sent me a video trying to explain it and suggesting it would probably just vanish after being sat on for a while. I'm not convinced though as there is quite an edge to the deepish crease.
  19. Seriously considering a vRS as my next car. I've got a nice one in mind but there appears to be a problem with the leather seat. There's a longish crease/indentation across several of the ribs. Can anyone please advise whether there is a way of dealing with the crease as it does rather detract from the car's condition. Thanks in advance

A very well equipped model and at a good price. needs some very minor paintwork around the rear bumper but nothing more than £150 at our local favourite body shop.   22. It seems like a lottery as to whether you end up with a car with this problem. The thought of spending between £14-16k on a car that may or may not have this problem does not seem like a good idea. Where the cars for sale are located (100+ miles away) I'm going to end up with a relatively short test drive on probably different road surfaces to where I live so i could quite possibly have a test drive with no problem and then start to notice it when I buy the car and approaching home. Much as I wanted to like the Octavia I'd probably be better off looking elsewhere for my next car which is a shame.
  23. Can anyone please confirm whether this booming problem affects estates as well as the hatch. I ask this as in another thread that I created someone has posted that it only affects hatches.
  24. The problem I'm facing is that decent spec petrol auto estates are very thin on the ground. In fact if you look on the Skoda used car site the most northerly petrol auto estate car under £18k is in Northampton. Literally nothing in the UK higher up than Northampton and the few Elegance versions are in Cambridge and Epsom. I'm very reluctant to go travelling those sort of distances (from West Yorkshire) to look at a car that may have a "booming" issue.
  25. Why in the 21st Century are car manufacturers not capable of producing a decent car without problems. The Focus was another car I was seriously tempted by, right up to the point when I read about all the problems with the Powershift gearbox.
