  1. To be fair, I don’t know the exact bhp, it was a bespoke map by Shark and he said somewhere between 250 and 260...based on his past efforts...I took the high number and almost forgot it could be less... call it optimism bias, so it may well be closer to yours than I said! I was told 98 RON only - if that makes any difference, anyway usually I use Costco 99, though I did use the very expensive Texaco garage the other day and it felt even better on their fuel. Id never noticed the spoiler as a feature, to be honest, is that not on other Superbs?! My old MG ZS had a better spoiler to be fair. Disappointed that the T isn’t red as well, to be honest.
  2. Not driven the 1.8. The 2.0TSI is fantastic but only comes with DSG. Mine is remapped to 260bhp. However, in reality I think the 1.8 would be fine for all normal driving circumstances, as I have never yet needed all the power of the 2.0 for any good or legitimate reason (it would even match the speed I did on the Autobahn). Whilst I wouldn’t swap now, I think if I was in the market, a 1.8 4x4 manual elegance would be considered, but of course it lacks the quad pipes...
  3. Loads missing = front parking sensors (why?!) electric bootlid self parking Extra False floor in boot (pointless!) Rear sun blinds Rear heated seats might be more...but mind had heated front screen, tinted windows and sunroof as paid extras.
  4. I was after a 3.6, but ended up with a 2.0TSI Estate. I have had it 6 months and it runs perfectly. I love it. 7,000 miles no issues or hint of issues. I’ve had the Shark Remap to 260bhp and 400NM I would imagine it’s a fair bit quicker than a standard 3.6 (except In 1st, as yes, you can spin the wheels if you floor it) Cheaper tax, 38MPG at 75-80mph (goes down a lot on Autobahn!). Great gearbox, very smooth, even at 120 (just got back from Germany). It’s quiet. No sound comes out the exhaust (V6 sound main attraction of the 3.6 for me). I love the full length sunroof. I got the Elegance with extras. If you can get an L&K hold out for one as they are a beautiful spec. Mine was next best thing but loads missing that’s on L&K. Great cars, good luck!!
  5. I’m a few months in with the Shark Remap and have been across Germany as far as a brief drive over the Czech Republic border. As far as I can tell, over all conditions fuel economy is no better and no worse. I drive calmly most of the time, but like to have the grunt available when needed. On balance I’m very pleased with the results, well worth the extra performance, and no apparent issues or downsides to date. Acceleration is very strong at high Autobahn speeds even 5 up with luggage. Car is smooth and composed and wonderfully understated. The car was being admired by someone near the Czech border, which was nice, though he was telling me in broken English that my car was the 300ps model, which was near enough I suppose!! Even there, where 1 in 3 cars seems to be a Skoda I failed to find another Superb mk2 with quad pipes!
  6. I recently had this debate with myself as I wanted an Octavia VRS manual Estate. In the end I took my wife and 3 kids to a dealer and tried out both, alongside each other. There was no competition, Superb ruled out the Octavia so much so that I was prepared to compromise to an Auto to get the VRS engine I wanted in the Superb. That said, in the end the DSG is much less a compromise than I imagined...
  7. As an update... I used maniactools to convert all my files back to MP3. I now have a nice full 32gb SD card and have transferred some to the car HDD. Works beautifully. The Shark Remap is also in place. First impressions are fantastic, though I haven’t been far with it. The car behaves exactly as before in normal driving (which is what I wanted) and but gives much more lovely smooth, rapid power if you need it. Very impressed.
  8. I bought an operating disc 5238 and latest maps from someone called automaticuk on eBay. First part was quick and easy, second part, I nearly gave up on! But it did somehow eventually work. I’d normally say I’d lend the disc as you are local, but I can’t promise results!
  9. Thanks for this. I see what’s happened - I tunes has turned most of my music into I4a files from the MP3 I downloaded them as. Now to change them back!
  10. Maps now updated... load of hassle, 10+ attempts gave up hope but left disc in machine as it lost the original maps...and needed the disc to work...only to find it did randomly update successfully while my wife had the car at work...result! The local Little chef that shut down 7 years ago has now gone from the POIs and the map now matches reality!! Now to work out the logic of the SD card - some songs work, some don’t - no apparent differences. Remap paid for and planned in next 2 weeks...
  11. In fact - to be rolled back another week or so I think... I love the car as is, but we have a close friend of Mr.Shark in the office at work who will not stop telling me how great a job they do... Winter tyres going on in the morning...
  12. It didn’t quite happen - I ran out of time! Saturday morning is the new schedule.
  13. I’m booked in to Shark tomorrow lunch time. I took the plunge with a 30% off Black Friday offer. Whilst I’m really happy with the car, having chipped/ remapped 2 of my last 3 cars with fantastic results both for economy and driveability, I felt it would still be worth it. I had promised myself that if I didn’t get a 3.6, I would Remap the 2.0, giving me everything I wanted but the noise!! The best chip I ever had was the first on a Volvo V40 1.9D 115bhp... it made 60-65mpg a regular reality having previously done 50-55mpg, but also transformed the performance. we will see what Shark can do...
  14. Do you have the firmware update with that, too? looks like it might not be a bad idea.
  15. Thanks - I'll do that then - just wanted to be sure it worked.
