  1. Thanks to everyone for all of your suggestions to resolve my interior light/alarm issue. I have recently had a new vehicle battery (start/stop) fitted and the issue with the alarm going off at random intervals has resolved itself. It must just have been a coincidence that my battery was failing at the same time as I fitted the interior light cluster. Presumably the low battery voltage set off the vehicle alarm to warn me that the battery was on its way out? A dashboard warning would have been far more helpful if this was in fact correct?
  2. Thanks @varaderoguy. I have tried your suggestion and the fault still remains. I switched the engine on and let it idle whilst holding down the window switch for 15 seconds and then holding the window switch in its up position for 15 seconds and repeated this for each window. I turned off the engine, climbed out of the vehicle, shut the door and locked the vehicle. The red door indicator remained static red for about 30 seconds and then started flashing. Any other suggestions gratefully received.
  3. Hi all, i have an Octavia vrs 2015 and the interior reading light switch (mounted by the rear view mirror) for some reason had over heated and burnt out some of the circuit and plastic switch pivots etc. I tried to fix ths but with only partial success I dug deep and bought a new unit. Fitting was very simple with only two torx bolts needing to be unscrewed. There are 3 connector blocks - all different - so removing and refitting was simple. The old unit contains a small black module about 50mm x 25mm (that appears to be connected to the three movement sensors by a two pin connector) and this needed to be taken out and inserted into the new replacement unit. The interior lights now work as they should but... the red door alarm indicator turns to a static red light when the vehicle is locked with the key fob. After about 30 seconds it then starts flashing. Since this unit was swapped the car alarm has mysteriously gone off on a few occasions whilst parked and locked. Does anyone have an idea what the cause of the fault is and secondly how it can be resolved without having to take it to a qualified adult to fix? Thanks. Zeb
  4. Sloshing now resolved😁. A huge round of applause to everyone here at Briskoda who has offered me advice in finding and curing the sloshing noise in my Octavia. After your many suggestive remedies Mickvrs220 pinpointed the issue to my N/S rear door filling with water. Opening the door as usual didn't cause the sloshing sound, but moving it more quickly did. I pulled away the door seal at the bottom and I must have drained away about a pint - if not more. Case closed and many thanks again to you all.πŸ‘πŸ’―
  5. Mr T Man, thanks for the advice. I'll have a lie down underneath the motor and check the bungs.πŸ™‚πŸ‘
  6. Thanks for your previous suggestions. I have removed the spare wheel lining tray and the well is perfectly dry. I have noticed the issue from a full tank of diesel to now which presently has about a quarter tank full. Do the cills have drain holes?
  7. I have owned the car for about 5 years but recently there is an obvious sloshing noise when turning direction and/or driving over speed bumps etc. It seems to have started around the time it had a service - including cambelt, water pump and new rear discs and pads, although the exact time the noise started I can't be sure of. Do any of you wonderful people know what may have caused this noise to occur and how to remedy please?
  8. Hi Ecomatt, I've had the car for about 4 years. I travel 40 miles a day to and from work. The smell has become more noticeable over the past year or so but the smell isn't there on every journey. If it was the DPF wouldn't the gasses remain outside the cab?
  9. Hi all, I have a burnt oil smell in the cab yet there is no evidence of any oil leaks. Could it be the engine oil filler cap not closing tightly enough? Any advice gratefully accepted
