  1. Thanks for the suggestions. I’d say it’s pretty intermittent across windows, tailgate and even locking/unlocking. Distance isn’t an issue, sometimes it’s from the front door which is max 5 metres away. Plus it affects both keys (trying the second key immediately after makes no difference). Just don’t seem to remember any issues with the same user behaviour on my Octavia MkIII (power tailgate too). Virtual pedal is quite intermittent, but that’s more likely my technique/lack of patience to use it often.
  2. Having an issue with keys and holding down buttons to open/close the windows or tailgate. Has anyone had this issue and/or been able to resolve it? It happens across both keys, so it’s unlikely to be a battery issues. Sometimes it opens windows/tailgate, sometimes not. The fact it happens to both the windows and tailgate suggests it’s a key issue not to do with the windows or tailgate themselves.
  3. So I'm 6'5" and the seats are just Cybex. As far as I'm aware neither massive nor compact. The problem is that the infant carrier touches the front seat and the child seat doesn't get the recommended 55cm in front facing position (we've been fortunate that my daughter is still happy rear facing and she's nearly 3).
  4. Thanks for the input. I tried a friend’s Kodiaq and there wasn’t enough space. So we happily went looking for a Superb having the decision made for us (nice and easy). Then somebody mentioned that the 5-seater is actually a little bigger in the rear/second row. So we went to Marshall for a ‘faff’ (it really wasn’t that bad) and amazingly, it is bigger somewhere. I say somewhere because there seems to be more space in that row, but also I didn’t have to have my seat slammed all the way back. Anyway, our search is now wider (annoying in a way) but we’ll try and find a Kodiaq 5 seater or failing that, a Superb. They really are huge in the back!
  5. I’m looking for advice on rear space for Kodiaqs and Superbs. TLDR - can you put a car seat behind a tall driver in a Kodiaq? I currently have an Octavia III estate and am in the market for a new car with decent rear room. My height means I have my driver’s seat all the way back and this does not allow for a child seat to be behind me. With a second child on the way, this is an issue! I’m currently looking at options including the Superb and Kodiaq. Does anyone know how good these are for child seats in the rear behind a tall driver? I have no doubts the Superb will cope easily, but the Kodiaq looks good on paper, so want to explore that. Photos online are deceptive and I haven’t been to look at one yet. And also can’t be doing with faffing about trying to fit a car seat at a dealer! Also, I know the Seat Terraco and Tiguan Allspace are essentially the same as a Kodak’s, but are any bigger/smaller for any reason? If anyone has any advice or experience, I’m all ears
  6. @Warrior193 - thank you, I’ll give them a go and just get a refund if they don’t work. Sadly, the Superskoda / Kopacek ones are quite expensive now that shipping to UK is problematic… I also found this thread suggesting that if you replace them all, there’s fewer issues. Interesting
  7. The culprit has been found. Took out the LEDs and also put the originals back in. In both instances, the interior lights go off with the ignition and there's no tailgate latch warning. I've contacted the ebay seller to see what they say. Maybe the £8 was the initial warning... For anyone that's done this before, it's just a simple plug and play right? I don't have to worry about the two cables they come with if the plugs fit, right? Any recommendations of where to buy 'legit' ones or what to look for?
  8. No, I decided to go with the 50% of people saying it would be fine. Especially as it's a like for like battery swap. Errors that came up disappeared after 20 metres. Will ask my VAG specialist to check it next time it's in though.
  9. New battery fitted (only minimal swearing involved). Starts like a dream now, so worth doing. Lighting issue remains though, but the plot thickens... Thought I'd try locking with the light on whilst sat in the driver's seat, then noticed that it seems to think the boot is open/closing (see video attached). Basically keeps flashing up with the boot open graphic. When it's stopped raining, I'll go and test the boot lights (and once I've found the originals in the garage, because obviously I didn't throw them away and obviously I can't remember where I put them...)   10. S/S is on all the time (unless my toddler is asleep and don’t want to risk waking her!). That being said, I do tend to fall into a habit of not letting it kick in most of the time by lifting the brake ever so slightly. Maybe with a new battery it’ll be a bit ‘fresher’ on the restart as well. You’ve tempted fate on your battery now…
  11. It does have start/stop and it's and AGM. I've ordered a new one from Tayna because I figured it's due a replacement anyway. EDIT - this is the current one, not the new one!
  12. Digits on the negative post are 26 14, so I'm guessing it's the original battery on there. Nearly 10 years for a battery is probably good value, but time to suck the cost of a new one. I know the cranking is low on it and that's probably why it takes a few seconds to start. I'll change that and see if that helps the lights issue, as it needs doing anyway.

  14. Just the trunk. All others are original as far as I’m aware. Could it be a voltage issue with LEDs being lower??? The battery is probably original too
  15. You don’t realise just how bad they are until you swap them out! Not really sure where to start on the CarPlay unit. It’s all wired in as it should be. I might do some research on any potential issues before ripping it out again though. Electrics in cars drive me mad!
  16. Hard to say because I only use the internal lights for young passengers once the clocks go back and it's darker. It wasn't happening last year in the darker months and I installed them since then. Swapping the original lights back is a simple test actually. Although will be frustrating if that's the issue because the originals are next to useless for actually seeing anything.
  17. Recently, I've discovered an issue where the internal rear lights don't turn off with the ignition. Instead, they stay on flashing/flickering. On other occasions, the headlights have also stayed on when the ignition has gone off - more than the 'coming home' function. Annoyingly, we forgot to manually turn off the internal lights yesterday and the alarm started sounding at 23:00... not ideal. Anybody know where to start with identifying and resolving this? For context, I have installed LED boot lights and a CarPlay box from Aliexpress, in case either of these are relevant. Octavia VRS, 2014, TDI (Apologies if this has ben addressed elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything in the search)
  18. Hi all Has anyone had any experience with one of the interface modules you can buy rather than switching to an MIB2/2.5 unit? I'm looking to add Carplay to my '64 Octavia which has the Columbus MIB1 with Canton and these look like a simple, cost-effective solution. I've had a look around and couldn't see much mention of them on here. Having watched some videos for a Golf, it seems you simply pull out the glove box unit, plug this in, fiddle with some buttons and hey presto, Carplay for a couple of hundred quid and no coding. I've got some keys on the way to pull the glovebox unit out and look at the back. I heard that the Canton amp is there and makes fitting the box in tricky.
