  1. Was that a detachable? Should have mentioned that in the original post Thoughts on the brink towbar? I tend to overthink things like this and end up paying over the odds as I fear cheaper but probably just as good lesser known brands.
  2. After a 5 year away from a vRS, I'm back in a MK3 combi and loving it.....apart from not being able to put bikes on the rack on the boot door. Ho-hum, time to get a towbar and a rack me thinks. I've done the searching thing and just want to be 100% sure I'm missing nothing: is the likes of this suitable or is there something better and cheaper? It's only to carry two adult and one kids bikes on a rack like this, I'll stick a second kids bike on the roof next a roof box. All this expense just to go camping for 12-14 days a year
  3. Just a quick note to thank our sponsors of the event. Stickers Andstuff (https://www.facebook.com/Stickersandstuff?fref=ts) www.CleanCar.ie and of course Volkswagen Ireland They have sponsored some great prizes and we'll have a raffle on the day. Nuttin' to bate a good old fashioned raffle now is there? If you can't make it, make sure you look after the sponsors...and please donate a few bob to Paul's fund raising efforts http://ie.movember.com/mospace/1092554
  4. Bumpage for Sunday week....anyone in?
  5. Anyone up for it? Link for anyone who'd like to donate: http://ie.movember.com/mospace/1092554
  6. As a newbie (and lurker), I hope people don't mind me posting this!!! Tis for a good cause like V.A.G.E invite you to take part in a spin to raises much needed funds for Movember which supports world class men’s health programmes that combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges. I'm sure everyone here has been touched in some way by cancer and V.A.G.E. wants to make a difference. You can too by reading on and getting involved. V.A.G.E member Paul Carroll (username 8valve) is raising funds by growing a moustache for the 4th year in a row and we want to support his effort. We also want to take the opportunity to laugh at him. A lot. So the plan is simple. Meet in the car park of the McDonalds Drive-Thru, Cork Road, Waterford, spin to Kilkenny and back on some scenic roads with decent surfaces, finishing with lunch. There'll be a couple of short stops for photo opportunities. And to laugh at 8valve. Again. €10 a car (or more if you feel like it) donated on the day is a reasonable and a cheap way to get out and about for a spin with friends while supporting a great cause. And laughing at 8valve. This bit doesn't get old I can promise you. What does €10 get me? Not a lot to be honest but we will give you a sticker to prove to others that you took part and made a difference to this very worthy cause. Better than that, you can have that smug warm feeling that you've helped out. We are currently organising a few spot prizes to be given away on the day. More info as we have it on this. (If anyone has a spot prize they'd like to donate, drop me a PM). Who can come? ANYONE with a VAG car. When are we meeting at: 11am 17/11/2013 Where's it starting: Car park of the McDonalds Drive-Thru, Cork Road, Waterford When we departing: 11.15am What about lunch: 1pmShow me the lunch stop/finish point already: The Cotton Mill, Portlaw, Co Waterford tbc What time we expected to finish then? 2-2.30pm Directions/Planned Route https://maps.google.ie/maps/ms?msid=211362807958428021268.0004e8c6fbe1142e45564&msa=0 For those that can't make it but wish to donate, please click on 8valve's donation page below: I'll update when Paul has it sorted
  7. For more details, please PM me or email the address on the flyer
  8. Have the same problem, any help would be great. Did you take any pictures are you were at it? Anyone have a guide to removing the console? Or a Part Number for the replacement part?
  9. Few weeks ago when I got into my car I noticed that around the interior light was wet. It was raining so didn't investigate. It since dried out so out of laziness I didn't do anything about it :( It has happened again now this morning. I assume it's the sunroof...I assume there are drains to be cleared but anything else a common issue?
  10. Happens to me too, CR 2008 pre facelift. At first I thought I had lifted off, then that I had tipped the brakes, then that the crest made my foot light, then I gave up thinking about it. That cured it until now :S
  11. I've had a PD for about 6,000-8,000 miles and a CR for about 10,000 miles and I prefer the CR, way smoother to drive. I get how people would prefer the punch of the PD but still think the CR is a nicer drivers car. You'd really need a good long test drive in both with different roads to make up your mind. Bit of motorway, B-roads and city stop start traffic. My CR is far more economical everywhere. Which makes me ask: How in the name of sweet jebus are you getting those figures from a PD or CR? MY PD averaged just over 38MPG's (combined) and the CR is doing 44MPG's at the moment. Even on longer motorway runs I couldn't get more than 42 in the PD and 46 in the CR. I'm not in the slightest bit concerned that I'm not getting those higher figures, if I was I'd have bought a MK2 Jetta 1.6D, but you must be driving like a granny. Hardly what a vRS is about!!!
  12. It doesn't change the speedo, only the mileage and the MPG's. I have no probs with the speedo but miles make more sense to me. Bit old fashioned that way Right, another for the list. cheers.
