  1. No complaints from me. I'm not exactly a roofbar connoisseur but I get annoyed by anything poorly made. They've been on and off the car a couple of times and carried the Thule box I borrowed from my dad no problem with a standard Thule T-bar fitment. Thule stuff is probably a bit better, probably not twice as good (RRP is about double). I think I read one advantage they have is the rubber strip in the T-bar track stays in place, whereas you have to cut the Cruz rubber around whatever you're fitting (I didn't bother as I don't have anything on top permanently so I just left the rubber out when I borrowed the box). I'm sure used Thule stuff would last donkeys as long as it arrived in good working order.
  2. Yes that's the right set. I don't have them particularly, I cheaped out a bit and bought Cruz. If you follow the configurator on roofbox.co.uk you get to the same combination: https://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbvehsel4_tab.php?emulate=roofbar&query=8128&vptype=644491&brand=Thule rail For completion, these are the set I bought for my FL (non-VRS but the fitment is the same): https://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbvehsel4_tab.php/roofbars/cruz_airo_118cm_aluminium_bars_2_no_airor_118_924_793_locks_included/Qx%40w%2C6M4gNax5vN1Yv0vegd3uHKu~8bS%2ChuvNj4HZ2D.rBUV~{EB{Z%2CVVwJKTPwLh
  3. I noticed that on mine too, alas too small for the vest I subsequently bought 😤
  4. I made the change on my 2017 without having to use anything other than the Amundsen infotainment screen. Pretty sure it was in Car Settings and then something like Lock/Unlock.
  5. Body Control Module which is just an ECU, another TLA. A little computer box that talks to and controls various parts of the car.
  6. We've got the same Joei EveryStage (two actually) as @Alex-W and would buy the same again if we needed more seats. As it happens we make do with one pair of seats as we're rarely taking the kids out in separate cars. We've got these, dark but still quite ugly mind: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0724ZR4YX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  7. I've got factory sunset tints plus these: https://www.carshades.co.uk/shades-skoda-octaviaestate-full-rear-p-5162.html Not fitted the ones to the back window but have fitted the ones to the rear passenger and little side windows further back ("quarter light" maybe?). No problems to report, the join in the middle of the back window one might be annoying but as I say, not fitted that. It looks like they do a cheaper set just for the rear windows, but for aesthetics it would be nice if they had the little windows too: https://www.carshades.co.uk/privacy-shades-skoda-octavia-estate-rear-door-p-7147.html
  8. If you are in the hotspot page in Settings or if you pull down and hold wifi there's a toggle there to turn on hotspot for me it worked well to connect up that way on Three but as mentioned above some people with iPhones and EE sims have had particular problems, there's a couple of threads on here I think but I'm not sure on the outcome. FWIW I didn't extend once my free subscription ran out, much preferring to use CarPlay (I use Google Maps, the missus prefers Apple Maps, I haven't missed TomTom since letting that expire). Worth trying it out those as you've got it included.
  9. Everyone is different. I know I used to be happy with my phone in a holder, then I got CarPlay and I'm now annoyed when I have to drive the second car which doesn't have it. So much so that any time I have a bit of a fantasy "what could I buy as a replacement second car" browse I'm always considering how easy a double DIN CarPlay retrofit would be on any car that doesn't come with it. I was waiting to reply until I thought of a compelling reason why that is, I'm not sure I have one, I guess for me it's just nicer to have everything in one place on the big screen on the dash.
  10. Our 2017 is a facelift so came enabled from the factory, however if I had a car without and the opportunity to enable it for £140 ish I wouldn't hesitate. I use CarPlay all the time in exactly the same way @ExSEAT mentions and from what I understand of Android Auto I would do the same with that if I was on Android. £140 ish is cheap in the realms of car upgrades and proper smartphone connectivity is imho one of the most transformative features in recent years. BMW charge something like £85 per year.
  11. I've got the same bars and borrowed my father's Thule which from Googling may well have been a Pacific 200 or at least looked quite similar. Not sure I got any pics but will take a look. He has the Powergrip (I think) adaptors which weren't advised for aero bars so I bought the T-track adaptors from The Roof Box Company. Was a good setup for us taking extra stuff on holiday, I liked that the box could be opened either side (although I'm sure that's fairly standard these days). EDIT: No great photos but I think it is a bigger model anyway. Looks very similar though and was well made, fitted into the Cruz bars no problem and no complaints about The Roofbox Company.
  12. Nifty bit of kit. Looks like it's available for around the same (non discounted) price on Amazon. Do you know how easy it would be to choose which phone to use if two people got in the car (or were within BT range) that had previously connected? From your video it looks like the car sees one CarPlay device (the Carlinkit) and then perhaps the green bar that comes up during Bluetooth connection would let you choose between the two phones on the Carlinkit. Look forward to seeing the power boot retrofit, yours has to be up there with the highest spec Octy's on here now surely?
  13. I thought OP had tried that but re-reading I think that was forgetting the Bluetooth which is entirely separate. OP if you want to try what Bugginbob suggests (and it would seem to be the only thing that might help) it's: Settings > General > CarPlay > Select your car (for me it says "Skoda") > Forget this car. Then try plugging back in, I believe you'd need to rearrange your icons if you've done that before but otherwise I don't think much is lost.
  14. As far as I know it's a long standing iOS CarPlay bug, I'm not sure there's a workaround (other than getting 10 real un-deleted conversations going so they get pushed out of that screen) but do complain to Apple and they might fix it at some point.
  15. Absolutely, purely cosmetic, usability wise the 6.5 is perfect, you could even argue it's better due to the proper buttons. I think even the resolution is the same.
