  1. It’ll fart on launch control I haven’t managed to get it to do it any other way
  2. I see your point but a few red lines will help the engine run better than nannying it. If you take it too easy you can end up with bore glazing and in some cases high oil consumption.
  3. My dealer showed me how to use launch control when I picked my car up so running the engine in isn’t really necessary as the dealer said it’s not the 80’s anymore. With tyre noise for me the noise was terrible but I found out my tyres we’re under inflated I pumped them up to the correct pressure and jobs a gudden.
  4. Bit of an update and the 245vrs is a joy! practically it’s awesome which I expected acc, dsg and lane assist work very well! Perfomance wise it handles pretty well for a decent sized estate it coners well but steering feels really light or in sport mode really heavy bit of a shame power is acceptable it’s not amazing but you won’t be disappointed. launch control is a laugh mainly to show your mates It is a looker it looks devilish from the front. its not a car for all out performance it’s lacking in that department but it’s great for doing the shopping and having a hoon on the way home. for me that’s what I wanted and it’s an awesome car
  5. Well here she is I pick her up in the next hour
  6. I’m not a fan but it makes sense to get it.
  7. Thats around the top end for gap insurance, wouldn’t want to pay over £150 to be honest
  8. Thank you! Never crossed my mind to check the options apart from the glaring obvious like dsg and colour more like things like acc and dcc.
  9. Popped into to dealers last night to finish off the paperwork, I’ve got my reg number and I pick the car up this Friday. I ordered at the end of October so it’s been a long old wait but not as long as others it would seem. This is my first brand new car do I need to check anything in particular when picking it up?
  10. Nice and impressive gains but that’s an awful lot for fwd motor though I’d be worried about the clutch, gearbox and drive shafts Will the fuel injectors hold up (I don’t know much about vag cars)? With the modifications I done mine were at full cycle and it was running dangerously lean on wot
  11. So what’s needed for stage 3? Im currently just about to finish stage 2 with my r53 Cooper S and I’ve put a hell of lot of work and money in to the damn thing The Vrs looks epic by the way
  12. I’m pretty sure it’s a £90 option because I scoffed at the price and now I’m looking for an alternative
  13. It still could be clocked, I remember hearing about people who went over the allocated millage with lease or pcp and clock them back so they don’t have to pay the excess mileage charge. To be honest it’s probably a one off, your car hasn’t been clocked and you’ve been very unlucky
  14. I let the wife pick the colour just to keep her happy and she picked meteor grey......... she hates it too we seen one in the flesh the other day
  15. Sounds like a bad remap was it a canned map or conducted on a Dyno just saying as the codes seem to prove they’ve brought up the fuelling without any other gains a bit like a tuning box , can’t comment on the oil or coolant though obvious answer would be head gasket. How your mpg? Sounds like it’s running very rich personally id get the map removed and get them to load the standard map to see if that’s the issue
  16. Well non of this makes any sense I ordered at the end of October 30th and my car (Estate dsg acc paint) is on the boat and will be in the port of tyne any moment now. Suppose ive been fairly luck if I’m going off other people’s orders on here, although it is a month over the quoted time. This car better be worth it as I’m losing interest fast at one point a 1.4tfsi Audi A4 was starting to sound appealing
  17. An Italian tune up should burn off any crap (carbon) that’s built up in the engine, turbo and exhaust and open the injectors up and hopefully get them spraying better
  18. I thought about doing that but for me over 2 years it seems like an expensive option since I don’t commute it’s mainly a shopping/fun/trip motor
  19. I’ve got an email saying my vRS should will be on the next boat and should be in the uk (port of tyne) in the next 9 days. What’s the estimated wait once it’s in port? I’m guessing 2 weeks
  20. I’ve searched but I’ve found nothing that can help me, anyway my Octavia should be arriving in the next few weeks and I’d like to get it set up as soon as I can I’ve got the standard amundsen system which from what I gather piggy backs of a WiFi signal. So I’m thinking a WiFi dongle Just because I can’t be bothered/will forget to tether my iPhone. So would a pay as you go dongle be good enough I’ve seen deals for £30 for 30g that’ll Just keep rolling over if you don’t use it. Surely that’ll last an age wouldn’t it?
  21. It might be undetectable by looking at but as soon as they plug it in to the computer and look at the stored info on the ecu they’ll be able to see the fueling, boost, how many redlines it had etc. I remember hearing about a guy on pistonheads who had a golf R on lease and he blew the engine (down shifted to much) and was hit with a hefty price for an engine rebuild as the warranty wouldn’t cover it as the ecu detected a rev spike. if any warranty work that’s needed is engine related and you’ve had a tuning box on it say good by to the warranty and expect a massive bill if you’re leasing
  22. Has to be the vRS but if I was after a more rugged estate I’d choose the Passat alltrack similar prices and better equipment
  23. I was in the same position as you, I tested out the standard system and then the canton system. Although the canton system was better I felt it wasn’t £500 better but that’s my opinion I also work with loud machinery Ive had premium sound systems in cars (Bose in my old alfa and Harmon kardon I’m my current mini) I find them alright but nothing compared to actual HK or Bose products which annoys me.
