  1. That's a coincidence. Literally today I had my water pump and cam belt replaced 6 months earlier than manufacture recommended. My engine started to overheat, even on a 5 mile journey. Water pump had gone. £489 later all is good agian. As the water pump works the turbo I have to ask is the dtuk box something to do with it? I did ask for the software to be checked as it had the usual starting problem and there was an update. Hopefully from tomorrow starting won't be an issue. But to be honest my average mpg went from 57mpg before the dtuk box to 65pmg on a long run. But it has cost me £489 for the privilege 10 months later. I have removed the box for now as it's getting cold and no extra power needed. Now got all 4 wheels on michelin cross climate ( expensive week) Hopefully a hassle free winter
  2. So after having the box fitted for 10 days to make sure I was happy with it I had the dreaded job of updating my insurance company Admiral. After reading some reviews on other chats I was expecting a fairly big increase. My insurance is due for renewal in 3 weeks anyway. It appears admiral classify it as being re chipped and gave me 3 options for the power increase 0 to 10%, 11 to 25 % OR 26% +. Not being able to put it on a rolling road I opted for the middle guessing the bhp won't have increased more than 45bhp. Shock and horror my premium increased, By a whole £12 a year!! And that's with a speed awareness course declared from 3 years ago. So hats off to admiral (excuse the pun ) for not taking the mickey.
  3. I've just got back from a 300+ mile journey and have to say I had no problems and no warning lights. It had power where needed although on the cold roads I did experience wheel slip in 3rd gear. Sticking to 70 mph + I achieved average of 61mpg. Mainly motorway but had some town and country driving as well. Taking into account I had the heater on, phone on charge, headlights on all day and at points both the heated front and rear screen on. Impressive. I'm going to stick to 2 +1 It works for me. Going to update my insurance company tomorrow with the upgrade :((
  4. That's strange it's just added a comment I posted ages ago
  5. I've had it on 2+1 since I installed it 10 days ago and I've been giving it some welly and so far no warning lights at all. It's my first long journey tomorrow 130 miles to Portsmouth so that should highlight any issues. Infact I did have the typical diesel starting problem where it wouldn't start straight away but since installing the box it starts first time every time. Wow, my final day of peace is here, although rain is forecast I'm betting on an hour of dryness tomorrow. I think from your comments I'll start with a map 2. 0 setting then work from there. Map 2 seems the best choice for mk3 Octavia diesel.
  6. That's all the instructions say. So I fitted the CRD3 yesterday took it for a quick spin on map 2 +0 and did not notice any change in performance at all. However today I've been driving on 2+1. Now I notice the difference, admittedly I was driving harder than normal and got a lot of wheel slip in gear 1 & 2 as expected but from 3rd upwards there is a massive performance increase, thumbs up so far I'll try the others maps over the week and find the best for me.

  8. Warning lights not what you want. To be honest I'm not a massive petrol head all I'm hoping to achieve is more power to make the car a bit more fun. The basic setting will probably be ok for what I want ( I should have bought the instructions with me on holiday so I could read up on the different maps)
  9. It arrived on Friday but I'm away on holiday this week so havnt fitted it yet. Monday will be the day of reckoning!! Cant wait, pick the wifes new polo 1.8 Gti up on the sunday then give my car it's little tweak, can't let my wife have a faster car than me
  10. Thanks for all your help guys, I've just spoken to dtuk and ordered the CRD3. They were kind enough to give me a £30 discount so paid £369 inc delivery which I'm happy with. Should arrive tomorrow but I won't have time to fit it for about 10 days. I'll let you know how I get on with it
  11. I have looked at eBay but you don't get any warranty and you never know how carefully it has been removed or it's it's been played with. I might give them a call to see if they have any online discount codes
  12. I'm warming to the plug and play box and the CRD3+ from what I can see is as good as any other box. Does anyone know of any discount codes for dtuk? Or if they do black friday deals
  13. Looking into plug and play boxes opens a new can of worms, so much more research to do!! And now a pedal box what on earth is one of those? As a none technical person that just wants a bit if fun, it seems a better option to give my car to a garage and collect the beast a few hours later, I'm not sure I would trust myself to set the programmes correctly
  14. I've noticed the same I think some advertise the actual bhp increase compared to the potential increase. I'm betting on a increase to 220 bhp, 230 sounds too optimistic. All companies only offer a stage 1 remap on diesels, stage 2 are only available on the petrol models.
  15. Is that a plus and play box? Any adverse effects since using it
  16. I've got a 2014 mk3 deisel octavia vrs 180bhp 47000 miles, had it for a year now fancy a bit more poke. So looking at a remap I can get both a superchips or quantum remap at a local dealer both for £340 a shark remap is looking to be £500. Has anyone had their MK3 deisel VRS remapped? Who did you use and have you had any related issues such as over heating or clutch burning out. And is it worth it? There are lots of remap posts but none specific as far as I can see that answer my questions. Any independent advice would be appreciated.
  17. Injector drift, i'm not familiar with that, is there any fix thats not going to break the bank? thanks for your reply
  18. I'm not going to bother the dealer as its out of warranty, I will mention it on its next service so they can check any software update, It wouldn't bother me it was every 30 starts, but it practically every time it starts from cold more annoying for the neighbors when i get up early for work. The issue started about a year ago before that it was fine, just seems a bit strange theres no common fix.
  19. I only do short journeys so every month or so I top the battery up so it fully charged, but this doesn't have any effect on the starting problems.
  20. I have a Octavia 2014 2ltr VRS diesel 47,000 miles and have starting issues, I always allow the dash lights to go out before I start, I thought it was temperature related but have been proved wrong summer/ winter its the same issue. If I depress the clutch and just press start it ticks over for prob 2 - 3 seconds then starts ( sometime longer, but also sometime it starts straight away), if I depress the clutch and press the accelerator pedal all the way down and hold my foot down a little generally it starts first time but not always, if its been run for a short time then re started it always starts first time or after the initial start it fires straight away no matter what the air temperature is. My thoughts are a fuel pressure pressure problem, after its started or run the fuel is fully pressurized so starts straight away, is the pump playing up or is the pressure regulator not working properly. OR due to the fact it starts better but not perfectly all the time when I depress the clutch is it an air intake problem and the automatic choke is getting stuck or something similar. its very frustrating I could pay the £75 for a diagnostic check with Skoda but will it show anything? or will it be a waste of money. This is a comonish problem with Skoda so why don't they actually put the effort in to find the cause, I do like the Octavia but would probably not buy another one due to this issue. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
