  1. Fabia sold. Gone to leeds to get stripped for parts. Sold both fabia vrs and my octavia vrs and my brother and sister both sold their octavia vrs, all i can say about skoda is stay well away from them, even if they have full dealer history and skoda warranty they still worm their way out of paying, they said no refund on warranty policy will be given as i put a claim in therefore,, against the terms and conditions no refund will be given for remainder of policy. Good luck to all you skoda owners wish you the best, and btw i have already put a claim in on the evo 10 for a new ayc pump (£2200) bill and mitsubishi replaced it immediately no questions asked as it is a “common fault” if only all manufacturers were like that
  2. Sorry for not keeping you posted. Put the car on ebay as it is, cant be bothered with it anymore. Cut the long story short skoda are not paying out financial ombudsman said they are investigating it can take up to 3 months i want 2k for car and am out can’t be bothered with this bulls**t. Sold the 14 reg fabia vrs and got this one (60 reg) on ebay and i just gone and got myself a mitsubishi evo 10 fq330 sst so not bothered about this one anymore
  3. They have until the 10th of jan to resolve the issue if not the financial ombudsman said they will get in touch with them and see what they have to say
  4. Hi 2ndskoda thank you for taking a look at this on going issue with skoda. I have rung the skoda extended warranty company up for an update from a lady called “Terri Howard” as she is the one now dealing with my complaint only to be told she is in a conference meeting and will call you back later today, that being 11am suprise suprise no phone calls, so will be ringing again in morning. As soon as i get a response i will give you guys a update.
  5. Not heard anything, i have emailed them twice, will be giving them a ring first thing Wednesday when they re open
  6. They are claiming the problem was there before hand as i asked how much oil ishould it be using, i said it takes 1 litre of oil to a 1000 miles and they (bickerton) told me thats normal and skoda extended warranty said they think the fault was there before because i asked the question and 1 litre of oil is NOT normal
  7. Waste of time and money mate, mine has full skoda service history paid £400 for "all component cover" no excess and over 15k miles a year, car developed a miss fire and i took it in only to be told a month later we are not paying for a new engine because we think the problem was there before I purchased the warranty, cut long story short its not worth the paper its written on, good look with it anyway, just hope it doesn't develop a fault like mine, as you will be paying out of your own pocket regardless wether you have warranty policy or not
  8. Still waiting not heard anything back at all even thoue they said "in more complex cases it can take up to 8 weeks but we will keep you updated on a weekly basis" not had that so just more bullS**t from skoda, had skoda uk ring to today to ask if i could take part in a survey which i did and slated skoda on every single question. Going to email them now and ask wth is going on as i am without a courtesy car now and my car is sat in skoda bickerton car park with no engine init! Its an absolute joke!
  9. Hi guys just an update, had a letter come through post from the financial ombudsman stating they have sent a letter over to vw financial services stating there is a complaint put in against your company, it says give them a few days they shall be in touch with you and i already complained to the underwriter of the policy which they emailed me back saying they are doing a full investigation into the case and should hear from them in 5 workings if it is straight forward or in "more complex cases" up to 8 weeks but they will keep me updated on a weekly basis
  10. There were no previous faults on the car, the car has been using 1 litre of oil to a 1000 miles for a while, which is what i inquired about and got told from bickertons as that was "normal" a month after the extended warranty came into affect and 1 week after it had its major service it developed a misfire issue , thats when the problem started, so the defence of the warranty company is, because i enquired about the car using 1 litre of oil before the warranty came in to affect the fault must have been there before hand, which is incorrect, the car never mis fired before, so just using that as a excuse not to pay out
  11. Bickerton did make me aware of the strip down price before they did it and asked me for authority to strip and did make me aware if not covered i have to foot the bill, which I thought no problem, will be a straight forward engine replacement claim as sooo many people have had it done, plus having all component cover with skoda uk, the last thing I thought is they will ask me to pay the bill as its a known common problem
  12. Well waiting too see wht happens this coming week as this is a complete joke! I am in no way backing down no matter how much it costs to get a result , i will take them all the way to court if need be. It might help if somehow we can find out how many of these engines have been replaced already? IS THere any way of finding out?
  13. Skoda dealership in sheffield (bickerton) have removed the full engine out of the 60 reg fabia because skoda extended warranty told them to, so they can "investigate" the cause of the problem, which they have now done and said we are not payig out, therefore i have to pay for strip down which was like £474 plus whatever it cost to put it back together:(
  14. There is no issue with that 1, have only owned it for 4 weeks, but got rid because of the 60 reg, it had put me owning any skodas in future
  15. The 1 i sold was my 14 reg 29k full dealer history one, that is mint, the one that is having the problems is a 60 reg sat in dealers with no engine in it lol
  16. The 67 plate 600 mile courtesy car given to me (dsg fabia estate) now has engine warning light on dash as i was on motorway driving back to Sheffield , their cars really are a shoddy piece of sh**. NEVER BUYING A SKODA AGAIN! Glad a sold my 14 reg vrs today sold in 5 min of advert going live
  17. Just had the call from Skoda uk and cut it short they said we can't do anything and you will have to pay for a new engine from your own pocket as we cannot over turn the warranty company decision, contacted the financial ombudsman who has now submitted a claim to skoda financial services
  18. Have now spoken to the financial ombudsman about this whole case and he said to me once you have spoken to skoda uk and told them you are not happy with the outcome and they re look at the case and once/if they do still turn around and say we are not paying, contact us then and we will get started and if they have mis sold you a extended warranty policy or if that part is covered under warranty we will get them to pay out for a new engine! Sounds abit more promising:)
  19. Just rung skoda uk twice only to be cut off twice before i spoke to someone, then rung off my partners phone and they answered, fishy, Anyways gave my case number and was told i will be getting a call back either today or Monday no specific time can be given as "she is really busy"
  20. Btw if anyone is looking for a nice clean 14 reg fabia vrs plz let me no, just been serviced from skoda bickerton Sheffield,it has extended warranty onit but don't think its worth the paper its written on. Think its time for a evo 10 and never in my life will i purchase a skoda again!
  21. I purchased the vehicle from my brother who has owned it from mid 2016 never had a problem with it throughout his ownership, i then brought the vehicle off him and immediately purchased an extended warranty after reading all the horror stories about them needing engine replacements, me and my mrs liked the car that much (when it was working) i brought a new edition to the family a 2014 fabia vrs 1 owner 29k miles full skoda history and purchase extended warranty again. I opted for the "all component cover" with 0 excess and unlimited miles even thoue I don't do much miles just for the peace of mind i opted for top cover (so there is no excuse for skoda not to pay out incase there is a claim) i sent 60 reg fabia in for major service @ a cost of £279 to be told everything is as it should be in car apart from the fob on the remote needs a new battery which they replaced and charged me for obviously and everything is now uptodate, while i was there thats when i enquired about oil consumption and was told 1 litre of oil to a 1000 miles is normal according to skoda guidelines on this engine, week later the car develops a misfire i send car back in and it took over 4 weeks for extended warranty to say we think the fault was there before you took out the policy therefore we are NOT paying out as it states in the policy booklet and claims will become void if they were present before warranty had been taken out, my point here is the car was not mis firing before and skoda bickerton are my proof as they serviced the car a week before and this fault was not there at that time, so how they can say that i do not no, only explanation the manager from extended warranty had is because you enquired about excess oil consumption that must mean the problem was there before you took out the warranty, i asked my brother he said the car never mis fired while he owned it so now i am just sat here waiting for a call back from skoda uk. I have had 4 octavia vrs in my family and 2 fabia vrs and after this experience I don't want anything to do with the brand as i think they are selling cars with a blatant manufacturer defect and don't want to admit it. I have had all sorts of cars from a wide selection of manufacturers and have had warranty claims with different manufacturers but my experience with every other brand has been ok but skoda absolutely awful i would urge everyone to stay clear of the brand and all their cars, i have just come accross some videos on youtube of people slating the fabia vrs engine needing constant replacements it is shocking as to how they have got away with out replacing everyone engine under recall on the earlier models?
  22. Where do you think i should take it from here. What is my next step? Do you think i should contact trading standards, solicitors etc?
  23. It is a official skoda extended warranty i purchased through the skoda website for £404 http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/warranty
