  1. I have a 2017 67 plate Fabia 1.0 MPI 75SE which has done around 16,500 city miles. The last few days the clutch pedal has started squeaking almost like a rubber duck. I think it is from the pedal mechanism itself as it does when the engine is on or off. It seems to be worse as the engine is warm, but this is probably because I tend to have the heater on a high setting when it is cold so the temperature of the cabin is a lot higher when the engine is warm. Would some lubricant help with this issue? If so what type and where should I put it? I am a bit concerned as I had this issue with my old Panda once, and the dealer changed the pedal box under warranty. Thanks for any help
  2. Thanks for that, I do check the oil temperature every so often and it is usually around 85-90c, the water temperature gauge is usually in the middle for most of my driving and it is very rare I make a journey where it doesn't reach that level. I obviously don't get the oil temperature as often as it is not in my face like the water temperature gauge :). I have already replaced the wipers, with some Bosch ones which have so far lasted a lot longer than the OEMs. I know first hand about batteries and modern electronics, my previous car (a 2010 Panda) developed a lot of strange ECU issues (and loss of power steering) and wasn't happy with the battery voltages before a cold start. I replaced the battery and the ECU issues never returned :). The gear box is a 5 speed manual, so possibly an oil change on that might be worth while? At the very least I think I get the oil/filter changed, new air filter, new plugs, cabin filter (will do myself) and brake fluid change/brake bleeding. The pads and discs are still fine but will probably change the pads next year at around 18-20k.
  3. Thanks, I will without a doubt get the oil changed, it was just stuff like plugs I wasn't sure of. Most my journeys are to work so although it is start start that journey takes between 35 and 50 minutes so 95% of my journeys the engine always gets up to temperature despite the low mileage.
  4. I've owned my Fabia my 67 plate 1.0 MPI SE since new and recently paid off the finance as it the current market conditions are not right to buy a new car and I am perfectly happy with the car I already have. I by paying off the finance I bought the car for well below current market value too :). I have only done just over 16,000 miles although my mileage has increased over the past year. My mileage is mostly stop start Manchester traffic although I turn off stop start in heavy traffic in order to help preserve the life of the battery and starter motor. The past three years I've had the basic service done by Skoda, and had the rear drums cleaned out and handbrake cable very slightly adjusted by my local indy. Other than that car has only had two new tyres due to a puncture and I replaced all wiper blades a couple of years ago (the car lives under trees). I am thinking I am better of going to a specialist for my fourth service. I was thinking I will get the oil change done, air filter and brake fluid changed. Do the spark plugs also need changing? I was told my car has long life plugs that last a long time but not sure if that is true. The coolant is also long life so I am assuming I don't need to worry about that yet? After doing a lot of research on the cambelt I am not getting that done yet but I might if I still own the car in a couple of years time. The aux belts all look brand new so I can't imagine the cambelt being any where near due to a replacement yet. I think I do change the pollen filter myself as I always like something to do. So does my plan sound reasonable? Is there anything else should get checked at four years old? I am thinking a battery test might be useful but so far I've had any symptoms of the battery not being in fine health.
  5. It really looks no difference inside to my October 17 build Fabia SE. It is just a very subtle facelift really.
  6. I think the Fabia's price is a bit high compared to the MK2 and that must have hurt sales a bit. It is no longer a lot cheaper than a Polo or Fiesta etc. What a lot of people don't often research is that the price of the Fabia is still very cheap when you consider the much better finance packages Skoda offer.
  7. I had to buy a port of exit car for this reason, even then I had to wait 3.5 weeks despite the fact the car was already built. I was also told in November that the wait for a factory build Fabia would be April.
  8. I was told once the car was built it was too late :( I even emailed the dealer about the warranty before it was registered and they didn't even get back to me :( I believe Skoda do an aftermarket warranty though? Won't be as good as the factory one but might be better than a Bristol Street one which will probably just be a re branded package from a company like Warranty Direct.
  9. If this was my car I would be rejecting it. I would give them one last chance to fix and make it very clear you are very unhappy.
  10. I use it but it is a faff for short journeys as it can take a minute or so to get it to work. In general I just prefer the simple Bluetooth system but I do use it when I a sat nav is handy. I just find it doesn't always recognise it straight away which can mean a delay to the journey.
  11. My issue is the car is good otherwise (so far) and I can't legally reject the car on the basis of a rattle. I have no choice really but to let the dealers do what they have to do and then complain if it is still not right. The sound is basically like a coin moving backwards and forwards. It only happens when I brake and when I set off again (opposite motion). I think the movement must be front to back vice versa rather than left to right. It sounds like it is becoming from either the center console or behind the steering wheel. Also with Christmas being in the way I can't moan too much about having to wait over four weeks (or could I moan about that to SKoda?)
  12. An update on this, I went for a drive with a technician, it didn't do it but he said he will put it on the ramp anyway. He managed to replicate the noise and thinks it is coming from behind the steering wheel. He thinks it is a snapped clip or something rolling around. I have it booked in for the new year and they have warned me it might be a dashboard out job :( All under warranty but not really happy considering how new the car is to be without it for a week.
  13. I should add it doesn't happen over bumps, it is not a trim rattle, it is a something move around rattle.
  14. Picked up my brand new Fabia III SE 1.0 75 last week. I have noticed over the last couple of days sometimes there is annoying rattle like a loose pen. It happens occasionally if I brake, accelerate or turn a corner a little sharply than normal e.g when ever the car is subjected to a slight G force. I played about with all the buttons and everything seems to be working, in doing so I adjusted the heater flap settings putting back into my favourite position. The noise seems to have disappeared since doing this but as it is slightly intermittent I can't be certain until I drive it again tomorrow. I am worried it could be a problem with the heater box as moving the position of the flaps seems to have helped the noise. Anybody else got any ideas? I have made the sure the car is completely empty and there is nothing in the glove box. I am worried although under the warranty my 130 mile car may also need a big job doing to it :(
  15. It is case you have a child seat in the front, the airbag can crush an infant.
  16. Thanks for the replies. The rear heater demisted much quicker today so I am suspecting there is a temperature sensor and that effects how much current is applied. I assume this is to avoid the glass cracking if too much heat is applied to it when its below 0c.
  17. I collected my brand new Fabia 75 SE today. It was dark when I got it home so pictures will taken another time. My old car was a base spec Fiat Panda for comparison. My initial thoughts on the car:- Good:- The steering is simply brilliant, it is so sharp and after reading all the reviews I wasn't expecting that. There is hardly any body lean in the corners and the suspension deals with the rough bits perfectly. The driving position seems very comfortable and I like the clutch rest space to the left of the clutch. Although I didn't choose it I really like the jeans blue colour scheme, I was very unsure when I found out the car came with it but it looks a lot better in the flesh than it does on the photos. My car is white so the white strip on the dashboard gives it an extra bit of style. I have managed to use Android Auto and get it working without using any instructions. I love the fact I can use Spotify via bluetooth too, it means for shorter jouneys I don't need to bother with the USB cable. No rattles or anything so far but time will tell. The visibility is good for a modern car and the reverse sensor seems to work well, I wasn't expecting the radar display on it either. Seems to fog up a lot less than my Panda did. The boot is massive for a supermini but I knew that anyway. The stop start works a lot better than I imagined it would but not sure if I will mostly just turn it off. I am not always a fan of white but wanted a car that would stand out in the dark and show scratches a bit less, however I think the Fabia looks brilliant in white, the shape just suites it. I am a big fan of the simple understated design of the Fabia. I think a lot of modern cars are over designed. The design just works, it reminds me a bit of the original Golf MK1 or even Polo mk1 with its rear slant. Bad:- These issues may just be because the car is new. The gears require a little of effort to get in but maybe that will loosen up? The clutch also seems a tad heavy but maybe my Pandas one was worn. The rear demister seems a bit slow compared to my Panda. My Panda would take less than a minute but the Skoda seems to take minutes The lack of one touch electric windows. Having to press unlock twice to open the other doors. As the sales person was showing me round the car the sunglasses holder broke. He got a technician to swap one from another car and it took less than 15 minutes to fix but it makes me a bit worried about the build quality of the rest of the car! The switch gear all feels fine but certainly no better quality than the ones on my Panda in terms of the feel of them. Electric windows in the back should be standard as it just makes the car seem like a lower range model. This is really just
  18. It just seems that the MOT will end up being a very complicated and over the top test. Apart of the cynic in me thing it is designed so we have to through away perfectly good cars after 7 years if things like stop start fails and cost too much to fix. I am not sure what sensors are involved in the system but I assume it is actually a fairly simple system as most of the sensors are already there. The ECU already knows the state of the battery etc.
  19. I am still hopeful this disaster could be diverted, I genuinely believe it isn't the true will of the people. I know some people genuinely want brexit. I don't think the EU is perfect, there is some major issues with it but I think the UK is far far better off in than out. Then there is all the rights as EU citizens we are loosing as a result :( I am still very angry about it all.
  20. Given that it doesn't work on many cars due to the battery never having enough time to charge how can they test the system? If I had known about the 2019 I may gone for the simpler Dacia instead. It just seems the crap that is fitted the more likely the car is to fail its MOT :( I will miss my simple Panda.
  21. I have missed all this as I am new to all the Skoda stuff, but my new car will hopefully be registered in the next couple of weeks. I am signing in the finance docs in a few days. I wonder if I could request EU plates? I don't see many 67 plates with them on but my dads 67 plate Hyundai does (bought pre reg) . Also one of the reasons I have bought a new car now (my existing one is nearly 8 years old) is I am worried about the price increases when we no longer have tariff free access to the single market. On the plus side I suppose Lada could sell us some of their none EU standard cars
  22. I live in south Manchester and Audis are by a huge mile the most popular VAG car here. I see loads of Skodas but they mostly have taxi plates on them. The Fabia is very common here but not the MK3. However as others have said it has only been out for three years so that maybe why the Fiesta seems a lot more common (I know they sell a huge amount more). I actually like the fact it is not massively common here, it makes the car a bit more of a talking point. Some people have said the current Fabia looks dull but I think it looks timeless. The new Clio for example will look very dated in a few years time. Rather like the Astra G looked a bit dull in 1998 but now looks far fresher than the Focus MK1.
  23. As I have ordered one I am always looking out for one and very often I can be out and not see any where as every other car is a VW Polo. The MK2 seems a lot more common. I wonder if the slicker looks and advanced infotainment systems have put off some of the older buyers? I am 35 and the Fabia was just the perfect package for me, although part of me wishes I gave the new Ibiza a look too. I think also it is a big mistake not offering a 5 year warranty on them as standard. I think Kia and Hyundai are steeling a lot of sales from the smaller Skodas. The 60PS engine on the S trim models needs to be replaced too buy the 75 version. I just find that engine very cynical. I like the slick looks of the Fabia, I wanted mirrorlink and a big boot (for a small car) so the Fabia fits my needs perfectly. The Octavia still seems to be selling very well, I went in two last night (yes they were taxis!)
  24. i have a few more questions. I ordered the car just over a week ago and it was on port of exist status. How much longer am I likely to wait? Does this mean it has simply left the factory but not actually in the UK yet? Also I understood that front assistant was standard on the SE models but it doesn't list on the Skoda spec card. Does it have a speed limiter or was that an option? Finally the extended warranty is just under £400, which extends it to five years I am not sure how long I will keep the car but I am hoping to buy it when the PCP runs out. Is the warranty worth it or are there too many exclusions?
  25. I am paying £133 a month on the PCP, that is for 3.5 years with £2000 deposit down and 8000 miles a year (in reality I do less than 6k). Thanks VC part of me thinks I should have got the turbo version but I had to draw the limit some where and I never use motorways etc. These days the fast road I usually go on is Kingsway.
