Well I did write shut down noise, but it is also present after key-fob unlock. So both pre- and post engine runs. Might very well be the fuel pump, but damn it's loud... just wandering if that is normal or a defect. I'll try with a better video and re-post the link.

Turn up the volume a bit - it's really loud in real life. The video doesn't do it justice.

Yes very much so - only it appears almost instantly when ECO sign is on, and is absolutely worse about 2.000 rpm - all depending on engine load. I've had a couple of engine sw upgrades from Skoda that seemingly have shifted the buffeting a bit. It's like the load needed to de-activate ECO is a bit lower, hence running a more often on 4 cyls. Now i'm no longer (that much) bothered, unless i'm on the highway (speed limit hits 2.000 rpm exactly) or i'm driving in S-mode, which also buffs the revs up. Shi*ty ACT implementation i must say... VW Passat with same engines seems to have none of these symptoms i've heard. Skoda even tried chassis adaptations to minimize the vibrations/buffeting but with no luck. (Bitumen plates on engine cover, tweaking hatch door hinges, etc.)

Oh... at least now I know. I though btw that the front assist is based on the radar unit in front of the car...?

Hi guys I've been researching a lot reg. whether it's possible to activate the Lane Assist on my Octavia via SW. It seems though that there are contradictionary information on the web reg. the camera type... Most often they refer to the A5 camera, with its big casing. However, I have stumbled upon this statement from a Skoda site, which - I beleive - illustrates the "basic" camera (not the A5), but the ad states that it is used for Lane assist, Trafic signs and Light assist. My car has the very same camera mounted (see attachment)... Does this means that I can have the Lane assist activated by coding? Hoping to get this clarified once and for all...

Wow there you see... so this is positive i guess... having received the RRP without it being requested. Changing the springs to "ordinary" ones will probably change the suspension feel then i presume? Thanks to everyone for solving my mystery.

So, i had a look underneath the car this afternoon... Is this it? is this the Rough Road Package? The whole floor seems covered except for the exhaust pipe... Se the pics (taken from the front, facing the rear) below. If this indeed is the RRP, can this be the cause of my high ride? //gkev.

I don't think so - almost all Octavias here look like the grey one, and sport suspension is not part of the "style" package here in DK. I highly doubt that 95% of the Octavia owners have actively selected this option... But I may be wrong. I will look for the shield plates on my car later today - haven't checked this yet. This will isolate whether or not the Rough Road Package is installed. How do all of your guy's Octavias look like? Like mine or the grey one?

Yeah - but then again it's hard to eliminate uncertainties like e.g. the wood being perfectly leveled, road indentations at the measuring point and etc, considering accuracy in millimeters over such a big span. How much of a lift would a rough road package add?

Might be - although i did not order that specifically... Is there any way to identify whether the package is mounted or not? An ID number or a special feature to look for?

Hi Received my brand new Octavia (the face lift version) in November 2017 - and noticed that my ride seems higher than that of the newer Octavias ever since... Se picture for reference (mine is black, the "low" one is grey)... The grey represents the VAST majority of the cars in my country (Denmark)... Only a few look like mine. Has there been an update in the suspension specs or has my car got a "wrong" set mounted? I prefer the looks of the lower octavias compared to mine... Mine looks like Skoda had no clue reg. tolerance chains and just added plenty of gap to absorb potential wheel/bumper clash... Does anyone know if there has been a technical spec update which resulted in lower cars since i got mine? Do I have a case for a warranty job here, or should i rest my case? (Octavia height spec sheet says 1460mm and always did - but it's hard to measure that accurately) //gkev

Wow this is great news! I guess you are FDM member since you were contacted? I guess FDM/Skoda do not contact each and one of us Skoda owners by own initiative... I actually have an appointment tomorrow at Skoda - interesting if they mention the TPI (or else I will)

Mads - how do you know this? Is there a link you can share? I am in DK too, and I havn't seen that Skoda have accepted officially.. I hope they have, because I have the issue myself, so I would be very thankfull if you could share some kind of link or document, which will make it easier to talk to Skoda? Is there a TPI on this - perhaps it is the 2050318/2 - does anyone know what it says? Mads - you can PM me if you like (in danish) but i think people here in the blog would like to see it too. The car usually prefers 6th gear during the 70kph - about 1800 rpm I would. When closing in on the 2000 rpm and approx 80 kph it shifts to 7th. That part of is quite comfortable - the shifts are OK. It's the ACT vibrations that irritate me. On a silk-smooth road surface, I sometimes find myself manually shifting up to 7th gear to drop the RPM under the ACT operating range, just to avoid it... ACT de-activates around 1400 rpm. I am glad you guys are happy about it - I just hope Skoda DK can come up with a solution for mine too... I contacted them a few weeks back, and they didn't really know what to do. They mentioned that the Polo GT had the same issue, but it was SW fiixed. However, they are NOT allowed to use VW SW on Skoda cars for some reason... argumenting it with vehicle configurations etc... Is there any chance that you guys with perfectly smooth ACT can check your SW versions? I have no idea how that is done... But perhaps I can push the dealer to upgrade to a specific version

Am I the only one experiencing vibrations in the whole car when it drives in 2-cyl mode? My Octavia from Oct 2017 (brand new, 2018 FL model) is equiped with the ACT (active cylinder technology) and shuffles btw. 2- and 4 cylinder modes as needed. Going downhill the 2-cyl drive is COMPLETELY un-noticable. But it shure is not when there is the slightest load applied. The system switches back to 4-cyl when the load is to high - but in my opinion it should be way sooner, or the system should work more seamless as advertised... I hate cruising 70-80 km/h in 6th or 7th gear and feeling the whole car vibrating under me... Any experiences anyone? I see many threads about this on VW forums, but can hardly find anything on Skoda's. Would appreciate any help reg. above.

Hi I am new to this forum, and I've spent a lot of time researching the threads about this topic. However, I have not yet found version that fits my angle of the topic... I'm located in Denmark, and have the all new Octavia 1,5 TSI DSG model. The car does not have DCC nor does it have designated buttons for quick driving mode selection. However - In the menu settings, "Car" -> "Setup" -> "ACC" there is in fact a driving mode selection. How does this setting work? I do not seem to feel any difference in daily drive. Is this setting only active for when in ACC mode? E.g. selecting "Sport" does not automatically set the DSG in "S" mode. I still have to do this manually if desired. "Eco" does not act differently than "Normal" in my opinion. I hope someone has experienced above to and can enlighten me. Thanks
