Cheers for the advice guys. I've gone for it in the end - full service history and no reported existing problems so ~£250 for a little bit more piece of mind feels just about worth it. Lets just hope I never need it!

Sorry to hear that Jav :( Are they claiming it's a specific issue that your car has had before you bought it or is it because its the MK2 VRS in general?

Hey, So after months of reading horror stories I've taken the plunge and gone for a "new" 61 plate VRS and she's lovely In order to cover my worries about the engine/plugs/gearbox is it worth taking out the warranty from Skoda (https://skoda-extendedwarranty.co.uk) Are they likely to pay out in the case of the common things mentioned on here? Thanks
