Well I can at least add my experience on fuel consumption. I have 2011 2.0 VRS Petrol. It has also had a remap (seriously such an improvement). There are 3 driving modes: Brisk i.e. My usual. - 24-28mpg. Weeeeeee. Everyone else's normal - average 34-36mpg. Steady motorway 55mph mode activated for longer journeys (think Nottingham to London M1) - 38-40mpg I really find that how you drive it can have a huge effect on fuel economy. I only ever use Shell V-power.

Okay, guess the fault after remap.

Still no resolution here roaddetective? Hmmmm....just a silly question, but did you change the ignition coils recently/since remap? They were the first thing to pop on mine, and the symptoms on these cars are that they go crazy juddering and EPC light. When my first one blew it was ok when i started the car next day for a few miles only. Then the 2nd one blew a week later. Cheap to change at about £20 each. So hope you get this sorted, even more so as I just noticed you have the exact same model engine, year and colour car as me it seems. If you fancy a drive to Leicestershire I have a guy can do the map for £150. Can probably use the same remap he used on mine. @TheClient. I would still say it's worth trying. The car is just superb after a remap. My own issues were probably down to age rather than anything else although the map was done 3 times due to a turbo underboost issue which was soon resolved by my guy. Cost - Remap (£150), ignition coils x 4 (£90), Uprated Sachs clutch kit + flywheel(yeah i know overkill but **** it (£1200 fitted). Of course, the day I got it back after the clutch was fitted someone keyed my bonnet because life hates me....so shall I add £300 for respray? Sigh. :-( -

Well, I've done 1000 miles since new clutch and no further problems. Driving like a dream. Car is much nicer after remap to be honest. Any news your side roaddetective? -

It certainly needs a firmer push on the pedal, not smooth pressure like the OEM. I really like it to be fair and pretty much only notice it in early gears. Best of luck getting the injector issue resolved, hate it when you just don't know the exact cause. -

Right, got the clutch fitted and Wow the difference! The Sachs clutch feels lovely. Much firmer than my old one. So car is now working after a 5-6 weeks of issues. That's the good news, the bad news is I drove 100 miles to Blackpool to see family and some F*&%$£t decided to key the bonnet. 2-3 foot gouge. Thanks for that. Why do some people just want to see the world burn? Absolutely gutted! -
No boost until 3,000 RPM lots of smoke

I did have a turbo underboost issue after mine was remapped. There was a clicking sound from the ECU when coasting at 60=65mph. A few tweeks to the map sorted it...- 11 replies

If it's any consolation, I'm also still having issues. Ignition coil blown twice, and now need a new clutch. It's at 78k though so guess not toally out of the blue. Decided to get a Sachs performance clutch fitted whilst im doing it. Good job I don't drink or smoke! £1200! Dam! -
Chrome surround on front grill?

Yup, slight trim with a dremel and is all good. No real problem opening it once done. :-) -

Hehe, the eyebrows I get, but the honeycomb looks far far better in real life than the big silly straight down OEM style, and it matches the parts below it. The chrome just had to go.... -
Ah...listen to this guy. I haven't got a scoobie if I'm honest :-)

I have an Octavia VRS 2011 Facelift and it uses the MPPS cable.

Torque UK - 07871409184 local to Loughborough and on Facebook. Mobile van. Though I'm guessing it will be same price as remap as well...they are remapping it.

Also worth noting my car has 77k miles on, ive been throwing it about a bit since I bought it at 63k. It's at that point where things need replacing anyways, and I'm guessing the re-map has just quickened things that were on the way out anyways. Just hope this is the last bit then I can enjoy the new feel for a bit. roaddetective - I've been advised to get an 'uprated' clutch. Any ideas on a good replacement? Apparently I should get a better than OEM one. -

New Owner - VRS 'normal' performance ?
PadanFain replied to Rooster83's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Yup, had a remap and when you floor it in 3rd/4th its a completely different beast. Like a rocket ship.... -
So today another coil popped. Cylinder 1 this time. Another 6-7 mile hazard light filled 25mph crawl back to the garage and changed the ignition coil. All seemed OK. I then had a 150 mile drive.... ...First 100 miles was taking it easy, not putting my foot down too much. Seemed OK so started giving it some welly in 5th/6th gear at high revs. Did this thing where the revs went up quickly but without any power connecting, like just empty revving when i put my foot down hard on the accelerator. Also noticed that the number on the dash showing the gear the car is in disappeared, then came back when I eased off. Clutch slipping maybe? (Backstory, had remap about 4-500 miles ago, had a few issues with a turbo underboost initially so it has had to be redone since, then did maybe 2-300 miles no problems then they started).

Had a remap myself recently and also problems. First of all Ignition coils gone, so have replaced them. So close to Christmas its all a bit rushed. Just driven 150 miles down the M1. First 100 miles was taking it easy, then last 50 decided to give it some welly. Have an issue where in 5th/6th where if I put my foot down, the revs go up really fast with no bite, it does fell 'a bit off' as well, like not getting the power properly. Hard to explain as had remap then drove 300 miles perfectly and now having issues. I also noticed that the gear number on the dash disappears momentarily when it does this. Perhaps clutch slipping? Anyone have experience of this? p.s. Sorry for the post add on roaddetective, glad to hear you have got yours sorted, I feel the same that with the remap it feels like a much better car so im in that 'Do I try fix these things, or is the remap causing more issues than its worth'. -
Got that oh oh feeling today. Was set for a long drive and about 15 miles in, start getting power issues at around 40-50mph, and gave a strange juddering sound (almost thought it was the traction control initially). Engine light flashed for a minute or so then went off.... managed to drive it home by taking it easy. Is this symptomatic of the dreaded tensioner issues? Has done about 75k miles.

I strongly recommend the honeycomb badgeless Grill from Superskoda. Get it Sprayed the same colour as your car...whilst your at it, the eyebrows really match it quite nicely. The colour has faded slightly since it was done so matches nicely now (with a bit of road grime on). I think it transforms the front end.
