  1. Found a couple of mk4 golf intercoolers with the same spec core and the plastic ends in a different orientation. So hopefully the cores are all the same
  2. Well as far as dimensions go it is identical at the core. The only difference i can see is the plastic moulds top and bottom which are obviously different. The mounts are in exactly the same place on the core too so i thought it was worth a bash
  3. Yeah that is possible and plenty of people do it along with the cable tie ‘fix’, but i wouldn’t want to bodge every joint. Plus if i went to look at a car and it had screws holding the pipes together i wouldn’t buy it. it could be done even cheaper possibly under £100 with secondhand couplers, intercooler/cheaper hoses. If it reads like i’m trying to reinvent the intercooler that’s not the intention
  4. more than likely would fail due to having a cut which is classed as seriously weakening it’s structure if i rememver correctly (haven’t mot’d for over a year) if worst came to worst and you couldn’t get a replacement belt fitted, you could remove the rear seats altogether and then the seatbelts are no longer classed as seatbelts for the mot. You might end up with an advisory for no rear seats fitted but at least it’s a pass if you need to.
  5. Would you possibly post the trim ans how much would you want for t? cheers
  6. Yeah apologies that was badly worded. what i should have put is alternative to replacing standard pipework without the cost of a front mount. Thats how it should have been worded not that it would be a better option than a front mount if you’re looking for power. I meant reliablity
  7. Apologies for the badly explained title its not an alternative to a front mount for all uses but if its just to fit a reliable set up then it should work as an alternative to replacing standard pipework Mine isn’t remapped so it should be fine. It was more of a cheaper substitute idea than spending hundreds on doing a big modification just to get away from the crap vw pipe design tbh. Should lat a lot longer than replacing a pipe everytime it wears. I’m sure it wouldn’t be a great alternative if you were hoping for big gains but then a proper front mount would be an obvious choice down that route.
  8. Someone has possibly thought of this already but i can’t seem to find any posts about it being done. The majority of my boost pipes are worn. So i searched for alternatives to replacing with standard pipes. I was going to build just the top hose like people have here but with the couplers being £20-25 each with postage it can be expensive. So i stumbled across the fact that the Fabia with an ATD engine doesn’t have the crap pipe fittings like the VRS. Neither does the intercooler. so i did some comparisons and the intercooler mounts, shape, size are all the same as the VRS but with normal 51mm outlets. I’ve managed to get the intercooler brand new through Euro car parts ebay page for £53 delivered, both boost pipes have cost approx £100 including a coupler for each end as i’ve kept the egr/asv unit. I’m still waiting for the last silicone hose to turn up but as a mock fit before modifying the pipe lengths goes it should be a good fit. Even better that it keeps the standard mountings, eliminates 99% of the leak points and costs approx £160 for all the parts including decent jubilee/mikalor clips. All parts are available on ebay and if people want to know what to order once i’ve confirmed it does all work properly then i’ll list the parts. If people are still having these troubles obviously
  9. Cheers. Can you remember where tbe boost leak was that caused that?
  10. Again excellent information. Wish my life was so exciting i had to jump on every post on a skoda forum. Grow the **** up
  11. Another great response. Looks like you enjoy posting absolute *******s on most pages. Give it a rest will ya Probably best to leave this page to die off cause it’s mainly *******s and opinion and when it’s challenged becomes a pointless comment back
  12. To be honest it’s pointless anyone responding to this post as the majority of it is opinion rather than any previous experience of the fault. Thanks to the people with useful info
  13. The reason genuine dealer/manufacturer trained techs usually stay clear of forums. 90% people who own a car, 10% people who know how they work
  14. World? You mean word? i’ve just told you what the oil is that i’ve got for it. The Exact same oil as vag use. For what reason do i need to know the exact wording of the oil he used? When it will probably not be one that you think is suitable seeing as you’re the expert on oils. perhaps the oil is tested to higher standards than vw 505 01? Is that more understandable i’ve got receipts for what oil has been used up until he owned the car, which was in the engine when the first turbo failed, then replaced with his oil only to do exactly the same again. If you’ve got no factual information to give on the fault then whats the point in crying over the oil that was used after one of the failures?
  15. Does that explain the first turbo failing in exactly the same way only weeks before this one? When the receipt for an oil change only 6000 miles ago has had a recommended oil used?
