  1. Hi Thanks for the advise I have decided not to replace the filter at the moment At 76 years old its getting a bit of a problem working on my back in the driveway Dave C
  2. Hi I have bought a petrol fuel filter to replace the original item after 25000 mls but I don't know if it is suitable The old part number is 6Q0201051J the vehicle is a Fabia Estate 1.2 12valve fitted with the 70HP engine (HSP) The new item is 6Q0201051C for the 60HP engine and is stamped 4bar on the base. (its actually a Crosland F30135) Can this be fitted as a replacement without causing damage? A slight drop in performance would be acceptable Dave
  3. Brilliant Thanks for the information I would be totally lost without this site and helpful people who use it Onwards and upwards Dave C
  4. Hi Need help again. I want to replace the serpentine belt on my 3 cylinder 1.2 Fabia 2011 Mk2. I thought it would be a simple job, release the tension pull off the belt and fit the new belt over the 6 pulleys It looks more complicated then that. Do you have to remove the inner wheel liner and lower the engine How do I remove the idler and tensioner pulley and how do I re-tension the belt The videos on the net look different to what I imagined Any help and advise would be appreciated Dave C
  5. Hi Thanks for all the help you have given me, absolutely 5star Feel more confident to tackle the replacement of the spring Safe driving to all Dave
  6. Hi I have broken the front spring [nearside] on my Fabia 2, Estate, 1.2, 2011. I have replaced springs on a Renault and a Ford basically they are similar My Fabia differs to the Fabia Mk1 and the above in that the suspension assembly is not held in place on the suspension turret by the usual three bolts or setscrews. The suspension assembly appears to be held in place by the 21mm nut on the top of the piston rod Usually I take the complete assemble to the workbench apply the spring compressors and replace the broken spring and refit the complete assemble to the vehicle and hold in place in the turret by the three bolts On the Mk 2 is the suspension spring a 'slip on' item that doesn't need spring compresses? Please help
  7. Hi All Guess I will have to get the seat out when I have time and re-engineer the seating system . I think it is a design fault when the seat height adjustment reduces the horizontal travel of the seat configuration Dave
  8. Hi I would like to increase the legroom for the driver of 2011 Fabia estate Presently the seat is pushed back to the stop. Is it possible to move the seat in situ by adjusting the mounting bolts of the assembly etc. Dave
  9. Recently I lost power on my 2011 1.2 12v Fabia estate, engine CGPA, Petrol, 51KW The fault code showed P0132 , the sensor is as follows: NTK 1G11, VW/AG 03E 906 26230 C 12V--4 wire These are extremely expensive and are hard to obtain Would it be possible to fit a cheaper replacement. The one I had in mind was a OZA 532-V6. These are fitted as an aftermarket replace for VW POLO Mk7 and appear to be a straight swop I am not bothered about performance or fuel consumption as my annual mileage is low Any information please Dave
  10. I have been on the local dealers website got a price (about £8.50 ish) and the part number. Will get one after the hols
  11. Hi I have done a bit more research regarding the Internal diameter of other filters, a Borg & Beck one is 31.5mm. I still maintain that it is not good engineering practice to force 31mm over a 32mm spigot regardless of the "give" of the material. But perhaps my years at a aircraft manufacturer has come back to "bite" me
  12. Thanks for the link. As above the new Mann filter is on its way
  13. Hi The replacement filter I have re-ordered is a Mann. However, the quality control practiced by Bosch in my opinion is deplorable. In my engineering experience if wish to maintain the integrity of your company it is often better to bring your manufacturing "in house". All too often unless you take tight control of quality control sub-contractors will place any questionable items in your branded packaging (especially if you have negotiated a low price). You only find out about this when the returns percentages rise to an unacceptable level. By this time the damage has been done.
  14. Hi I bought the most expensive oil filter that was on offer thinking I was buying a tried and tested quality product. Bosch has now been added to my "never buy again list" along with two other German manufacturers (one begins with B and the other M)
  15. Hi My first post on the site. I had decided to change the oil and filter on my 1.2 12v Fabia. ( Bosch filter P9194). The stated size of the internal diameter of the filter is 32mm, the actual size of the filter was 31mm and contaminated with glue at each end. To get the filter to fit it was necessary to scraped the glue away with a sharp knife. The old filter I removed was 32mm and a smooth fit on the oil filter stem I have reported this to Bosch and basically I did not get the response I would have expected from a quality German manufacturer. I have now purchased a replacement item from another manufacturer Has anyone on the forum come across this problem. I did not want to use force to fit the filter incase I broke the plastic filter stem.
