That price is about right. There are other parts aswell to consider like the intercooler piping, deleting your egr valve, exhaust, and air flow sensor.

My mechanic basically said if your planning to keep the car for a long time then buy a brand new box. You could choose to have it fully rebuilt, think i was quoted around £400 but no guarantee as to how long it would last.

I had the exact problem, changed from 2nd gear to 3rd and the slector fork had snapped leaving it stuck in 3rd! I purchased a brand new box through a mate at VW and lets just say it still dented my bank balance hard lol!

Ben_VRS replied to ben cook's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
A Turbo Dynamics Hybrid Garret pd150 will cost around £850 at the moment special online price, this is after an exchange of a like for like unit. You get a £100 surchange back once they receive it. I blew my turbo a couple of months ago and took the stage 2 route, Hybrid garret pd150 Seat Sport FMIC Forge piping Egr delete valve Milltek full system exhaust Remap Still my car is in my garage and awaiting remap because i cant get hold of a vrs dovit top boost pipe or find anywhere to get hold of this 51mm 80 degree stainless pipe which goes at the bottom. Have everything but these to get me back on the road if anyone can help!?!? Thanks Ben -

MOT results - parking brake failure.
Ben_VRS replied to KevH90's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Im sure theres a post somewhere regarding this issue. Had the same problem myself with the handbrake not releasing properly sorted with a couple of springs which prevent it from sticking. Only a few quid from dealer. -
The glue comes with it mate.

I got a glass gromet from here http://www.venommotorsport.com/product_details.php?id=1008&manufacturer=Speedtech&category=Bodystyling looks really clean when done, held in with black glass bonding glue. Little tip... dont be shy with the glue you want a nice tight seal once complete and once dry the excess glue easily rubs off your glass!!

Fabia vRS - Popping out of 1st Gear from 2nd Gear
Ben_VRS replied to Crocket's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Im ashamed to say that i got into this habbit and after two and a half years the selector fork snapped locking me in 1st gear! Told its the weak link in the box. Warranty was a no-no so dug deep for a brand new gearbox £1200+£600 surcharge! Id get out of this trend and start driving like me (an old granny). -
Touch Up Paint - Novice Question =C
Ben_VRS replied to tempest501's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
IMO Id have a go. At the end of the day the area in question will need a professional job enentually but touch up will be more than enough for the time being. The 2 pots you were given will be your basecoat silver more than likely waterbased, then your lacquer. Have a hairdryer to hand to heat the area up before applying the basecoat then gently dry inbetween coats (2-3 max). Wouldnt recomend waiting 3 weeks for each coat to dry bit extreme plus if it rains your basecoat will dissapear! Repeat the process with the lacquer and hay presto rust the same color as your car! -
Sorry to hear about the scratch, looks quite deep to be honest and only a respray would cure it. In the mean time get to a bodyshop with your colour code and get sum touch up with sum lacquer to prevent it from rusting. Will do the job until you can afford to get it painted.

New front bumper is the only way to get out of that deep 'le barry' hole youve dug 4 urself imo. Fair enough you wanted to do abit of DIY, maybe working on a seperate bumper off the car would have been more benificial. I use to work in a bodyshop and no how difficult these mods are to do even with the right tools. Morale of the story- i cant cook so i keep my white *** out the kitchen! -
