  1. Hi guys, Should the rear pads sit on shims (if that's what their called ?) Lol. Mine hasn't got them and just wondered if I should get some ?? Cheers
  2. Hi, I know it was a while, but I'm looking at fitting my own towbar. How hard was it to fit ??
  3. Hi guys, well i sorted the alternator & a/c belts today, a bit nippy but hey oh lol. Whilst underneath I noticed fluid dripping from the back of the power steering pump, nipped up the bolts I cud see and it slowed but didn't stop. Anyone know if i remove the back, hoping to do it while its on the car, if its a rubber gasket or I can use, forgotten correct name but the blue sealant ???? Cheers
  4. Hi, I've got the 2006, 2ltr 140 DTI elegance, manual, with all the toys lol. Had it since November. What ever you do, make sure every light works, inside and out !! And I mean every one ! If they don't, be prepared for a lot of work of re-wiring !! Not hard but just a pain when its cold and raining all the time lol. Full service history ideally is a must. Not sure I'd buy a superb again, unless i cud afford a lot newer one lol.
  5. So anyway, gets to work ok this morning. Parks the car up to wait for a parking space. Three minutes later, a car moves so I go to turn the car on, mmmmm not starting !!! Ffs Its not the battery, tried jumping off another car, ffs, mmmm what next ??? Ah AA thank you. Yes we'll be there in half an hour, woohooo !! A very nice man arrived, tried it and yes it starts !! Ffs !!! Thankfully, or not, it stalls and doesn't restart !! Ffs. Computer reader out, P3007 code, Camshaft sensor !! Ffs. The very nice man removed said sensor and its all taped up ???? Ffs Why is it all taped up ??? Anyway he took me with the old taped up sensor cable to Skodaland, after they said they had a 2nd one, woohoo. Gets there and the one showed it about a foot n half long. The one from my car is about 3 foot long !!! Ffs. Thus why its been taped up, cos whoever had it before must have got the foot n half long one and extended it !! Ffs. So no go !! Ffs. Rings Skoda dealer, yes we can order one and it'll be tomoz morning, £120 !!! Ffs. Mmmmm good job I'd rung TPS and they wud have one tomoz morning but for £33 plus vat !!! That's a 200% mark up !! Ffs. I think with the engine cooling down (???) the car managed to start up with the old cable and the very nice man followed me home. So fantastic day and then to collect and fit the new one tomoz !! Ffs lol. And breathe Anything else to double check or shud that fix it we think ????
  6. Catch 22 isn't it Bleeding weather is crap ATM, can't do anything on the car for ten minutes before ya freeze to death or get soaked Meanwhile your car is slowly killing itself !!!! Hope you get sorted mate
  7. Hazards not flashing when locking/unlocking either on remote or by the key ?? Not sure if alarm works ?? I've tried shaking the car like a mad man whilst sat in it, but nothing ! Lol. Red lights do flash on top of doors ok though. Mirrors don't fold ?? Never have since I've had it. I've done the water ingress upgrade on the passenger side, or fixed the problem with the crap wiring !! Lol. I did wonder about the relays near the glovebox ?? If they need drying out ????? I've also checked all the fuses, 3 times !! Lol. I was going to look on the drivers side tomorrow, but not sure if any wiring on that side ???? Any advice is most welcome thanks
  8. I know about the passenger side and sorted that, I hope !! So there are wires that need fixing on the drivers side ?????? Not seen anything about the drivers side ! Cheers
  9. Hi, give a dealer a ring, then possibly try TPS or search on internet mate. I'm sure you'll then know how much it'll cost n where to get it from Personally not needed them so no idea of cost.
  10. Hi guys, Does anyone know if there's any wiring that needs doing again (properly !!) on the drivers side ie under the seat like on the passengers side ??? Feels like I've got a bleeding classic car at the moment with the amount of stuff not working Tia
  11. Cheers buddy. Most confusing and odd car that I've ever owned !! Lol.
  12. Thanks mate. I'll add that to my "to do asap list" lol.
  13. Yeah I agree mate. B5 model. Hopefully the engine etc is the same set up ?? Cheers
  14. Pmsl lol. Funnily enough my son in law bought me the Haynes "how to paint and touch up your car" last Christmas, still not opened it !! Lol
  15. Hi guys, I now realise that Haynes haven't done a book for the Superb, so with that in mind, which model VW is the closest In technical and matching terms do we think ?? I know quite a few bits of the Passat B5 fits the mk1 so thought about getting one of those manuals ??? Tia
  16. Hi, what does this video actually show ??? Confused ??? I've recently changed my drivers door window mechanism (big metal thingbob, proper technical me) lol. I didn't seal it up with anything, guess I need to ?? On the outside of the window around the metal to the door ?? Thanks
  17. Thanks Pinstripe. I did mean the hazard lights lol. I'll have another look at the wiring when the weather gets better !! If ! Lol. Is there any wiring on the drivers side (front to back) ?? I only did the passenger side wiring ! Thanks again mate
  18. Just joined so thought I'd say hello Well I've had my 06 Superb Elegance for 2 months or so now, really nice car to drive with all the toys Had the water ingress issue all sorted and all the interior lights now work superb now Can't believe the OEM wiring was done, but hey oh Just a few questions if anyone can help ?? Should the lights flash when locking the car ?? Interior lights working but not when opening the doors ?? Reversing sensors don't work ?? Is it worth sorting or just fit new set ??? Tia
