  1. Hi, I used this guide as a start point as although the controller is the same (09 Central Electronics) the location of the byte you need to change will depend on the model and year of car. Mine and all the others i've done (Mk2 face lift vrs's and one non vrs) was just a check box (not a drop down) like what's shown in the image, and was around bit6/7 - just cycle through the long code helper until you see somthing like "Active turn lights via foglights" Guide http://octavia-vrs.com/cms/content/enabling-cornering-light-function If you want exact locations I could probably post a pic, but I can't at the moment. Phil
  2. Hi, Much the same as most peeps here: 30-32 MPG general running around with about 38-40 on a motorway, Took some getting used to after my 50-52 Mpg in my Diesel.. Phil
  3. Hi, I live near Oxford, have Vag Com and want to enable this on mine BUT I'm on a course in Wales at the moment and cannot help out for a couple of weeks. If you can wait that long i'll be more than happy to sort it out, and do mine at the same time.. Phil
  4. Hi, Quick solution: Rent em! Lenses for Hire I know i''ve metioned them before on here (i'm nothing to d with them, honest!), but they really do offer a great friendly service. Great for trying out kit before purchasing.. Phil
  5. Hi, Thanks for the comments. Yes you are right. Having got hold of an entry list that is indeed an MG ZR, apparently very popular in this end of the sport. I was probably just being lazy when I exported it.. Phil
  6. Hi, I can at least try to answer the first one: You need to pair a phone, then through the maxidot phone menu go to 'Paired Devices' and delete the others as needed. sorry, can't comment on the second one, might be some sort of r-Sap funkiness going on? Phil
  7. Hi, 50D owner here, and also called Phil..... I went from a 450D to a 50D and never regretted the move. It's a real nice camera. You probably don't want to hear this but it really shines when it has 'L' series glass attached the first L I got was the 70-200 2.8 IS and it remains my main stay to this day. 100-400 is a nice lens not to sure about the DO version, never used it in anger myself, but it doesn't get to good reviews. If you want any help or advice about the camera give me a shout, i'll see what I can do to help. Cheers Phil
  8. Hi, Spent an afternoon shooting the Bullnose Rally in Oxfordshire. Basically it's a rally endurance event for the 'enthusiast' run by the Oxford Motor Club. Looking down the entry list I saw there was supposed to be a Fabia in it, but it never showed :( Anyway some pictures: Pug 205 Peugeot 205 Rallye by Supine, on Flickr Fulvia HF Lancia Fulvia HF by Supine, on Flickr Rover BW_Rover by Supine, on Flickr Pug 106 Peugeot 106 Rallye by Supine, on Flickr Any more on my flickr if you want to take a look: Flickr/supinesnaps Thanks for looking Phil

  10. Hi, Loving the B-17 shot, that sky is class. How good are you with photoshop? I'd be tempted to clone out that fence around the tank, would make a great shot excellent! Phil
  11. Heh, Let me just rectify that : and and a tank...broke it's gun off before I could get a photo though...
  12. Hi all, Had a great day today as the semi official photographer at RAF Benson's mopedathon. What's a mopedathon I hear you ask. Well basically get a group of people together from different RAF bases, local businesses and the general area, Mark out a track on the pan, and 'race' for 8 hours. The winners are decided by .well...a number of factors...the main one being comedy factor I think. Anyway, enjoy: 1) 2) 3) 4) Phil
  13. is preparing for a 70 mile bike ride in aid of Help for Heroes on Sunday 18th..wish me luck, i'm going to need it..

  14. Hi all, Now that i'm a proud owner of a VRS i've taken an unhealthy liking to all things 'go fast'. Re-Maps, performance exhausts I should know better at my age. Anyway whilst drooling over some nice looking exhaust systems by Milltek, I got that feeling and couldn't help wonder whay I know that name....until I went back and finished processing some of the photo's i took from a BTCC meet at Rockingham... Gotta love the V-Dub...at the time this one was taken it was just about coming onto the pace. Phil
  15. Hi, Great pics with top marks for the prop blur.. Good work. Phil
  16. Hi I had a iPhone 3G and that didn't either. I am reading though that the new build Octy's are fitted with what they're calling BT III+ or enhanced BT III and these work with all phones. I so need the part number of the BT unit so I can upgrade mine. Phil
  17. Howdy, Yep them 1200's are scary beasts lol.. You know that Paul Hogan film where he utters those immortal words "that's not a knife..This is a knife..." Here's the photography equivalent: The Sig-Monster Those Canon 1200's come up now and again on E-Bay etc...but the Sig is avaliable for a reasonable 14-15 grand new...lol Oh, and sorry for the thread hi-jack.... normal service resumed soon... Phil
  18. Howdy, A really handy site: Lenses for Hire A Really nice guy runs it, and the service provided is second to none. I rented a 70-200 F2.8L from here and week later ended up buying one....so be warned The 70-200 is now the workhorse of my collection combined with a 1.4x converter. Phil
  19. Hi, The 450D is a great camera, I started with one and continue to use it as a backup. I'm now onto a 50D (which will soon be a 7D as i'm into sports photography) with a selection of 'L' series lenses. I have two questions for you: How much do you know about SLR photography and what the intended use of the camea is? Those lenses fit into the 'ok' group as far as i'm concerned i've taken some pretty good shots with the 18-55 IS, but never played with the with the non USM 75-300. The only thing I will say about it being a non USM lens is that the focus may be a tad slow - the USM refers to the motor that controls the auto focus, lenses equipped with this are deadly fast focus'ers. IS is a great invention, and really comes into its own on the longer lenses and in lower light, and has its uses on the smaller lenses too - the whole subject cannot be covered here - you might consider the EFS 55-250is lenses as an option to the one offered though A site i'm a member of is here Photography on the Net be warned though: reading this will potentially get you involved in a hobby, and make you spend a lot of money......bit like here really:) - but it is really helpful. Check out the lens archives for sample pictures using those lenses. Need any more pointers get in contact.. Phil
  20. Hi, That connection belongs in the air ducting right behind the head unit. There are two, each sat in their own bit of the duct right by each other. Easy enough to fit (or re-fit in your case) just a straight push fit and turn ninety degrees.
  21. Hi, I have an iPhone 4 and can confirm it doesn't work with my 59 plate FL Octavia with BTIII phone prep. Phil
  22. Hi, Variant:: VRS Engine: 2.0 TFSI Transmission: DSG Hatch or Estate: Estate Colour: Silver Extras: Columbus, BTIII Phone prep, Xenons, Rain Sensor / dimming mirror, Maxidot, MFSW, Full size spare, parking sensors. Mods to date: Does upgrading the Columbus firmware and Maps count? Phil
  23. Hi, I didn't really have a choice with mine, I bought the car second hand. When the sales guy mentioned it had GSM III phone prep he also looked at my iphone and said 'that won't work with it though..'. I was only mildy disappointed with that however I hoped my work HTC Touch2 would be ok with it. No chance. I've read page after page on making it work and tried everything from third party r_sap apps to having a look in VCDS. My missus' cheap PAYG Nokia however, practically begged to be connected so I ended up with a work supplied Nokia 6021 of which I swap the sim to my HTC when I need to use that. Got to admit, when you find a phone that works with it, the system is a joy to use. All i'm saying here is that if you're going for a HTC or the like, beg to try it with the kit first. Phil
  24. Hi, Best one I got is a Costa one bought from my local Costa Coffee Emporium. Fits a treat and passes even passes the drop test with flying colours due to the really good sealing on the cap. Oh, and welcome to the site.. Phil
  25. Hi, What's with the little 'eyebrow' lamps on the FL Octy? A workmate noticed them on mine and asked how you switch them on, I of course had no idea. If you don't know what I'm on about have a look at a picture of the front end / headlamp layout on the facelift Octavia. Taking a VRS for instance we have from the bottom up: Fog Lamp, LED running Lamps, Main Beam, Xenon dipped beam and right above that there is quite clearly another blue(ish) coloured lamp sat in there. Any ideas what they are or how to turn em on? Cheers Phil
