  1. Good evening. We had this issue with our 2016 Superb 1.6 tdi when first purchased. My wife brought the car back to the dealer to ask for explanation. But turns out it's OK and it went after 6 months....something about new engine, expanding metal etc. But I called them and told them I wanted this issue noted on the system as a warranty item and that they would be liable if anything happens to the engine, which they did and followed up with a letter to confirm. No noise anymore and running smooth.
  2. Have to admit I had to surrender my 2014 VRS (my baby) due to company and tax reasons to a commerical vechicle. I settled with ,sorry to say it but a Ford Kuga. Have to admit I am not happy with it. I want a skoda. I just hope that Skoda will be willing to sell their Kodiaq or Karoq in a commerical version with seating for 4 people, similar to Ford have their Kuga's. My only saving grace is my wife has a 2016 Superb, and I love driving it. Sorry Skoda but I will be back soon.
  3. Yep get the same thing......just speed up lol.
  4. Hi, I do mixed driving driving from Dublin City Center to Meath up the M1. Average about 47mpg on a tank of diesel. And that's with having the odd bit of fun also.
  5. Hi all, I had my Octavia RS PD170 recently serviced & the service notification on the MDF was not reset. Is there anyway of resetting this myself without having to bring it back to the dealer. Many thanks, Graham.
  6. The one thing to watch out for is the inlet manifold. I have heard from other diesel VRS owners that they have had to get them replace....as have I. Lucky I was still in warrenty. It can be a costly replacement, especially if the manifold lets go in a big way. Second thing to watch for, which is more a wear & tear item, is the bushes on the front of the car. That's all I can think of for now.
  7. Is there any sign of Skoda doing a commerical version of the Yeti????
  8. I had the same problem with my car. But the PDF light was constantly coming on. Turned out to be the inlet manifold, Skoda Ireland forked out 50% for the cost of a new one & they paid for the labour as I always get my car serviced by Skoda, even if the garage I bought it from has now closed. The sensor problem also came up. But I had to fork out for that one. You should contact Skoda UK head office & complain. Tell them were you live & they will organise for your nearest service centre to have a look & carry out any works under warranty. As for buying the wrong car for your type of driving, I think you made a mistake. I found the harder you drive the RS the easier it was on fuel. I do alot of motorway driving & I tried to be easy & then "drove" it into work on 2 different mornings. I was shocked that "driving" it was easier on juice.
  9. I have just had my RS PD in for it's 89,000 klms (55,302 miles) service. All the filters etc where replaced. I have noticed that when I accelerate hard there seems to be abit of smoke coming from the exhaust. Has anyone had this problem before ? or used additivies to the diesel to clean out the engine. I did hear once, not sure if it's an old motoring myth, that if you add 1 litre of petrol to a full tank of diesel every now an then, that this helps keep the engine clean.
  10. I had the same problem. I couldn't see where the noise was coming from i.e. gaps or torn seals. But I brought it back to the dealer & they had it fixed. They said they had to re-seal the rear windows.
  11. I agree with always washing the black. I have a black RS & wish I had of gone for silver. With the black you will see any little marks in the painwork i.e. stone chippings etc.
  12. I got my shades from these Palm Automotive.co.uk Van Accessories Van Styling 4x4 Accessories Easy to fit & work a treat....have a new born baby in the car & practically no glare.
  13. Wind noise turned out to be an incorrectly fitted windscreen. An uncle of mine had the same problem with a merc. After getting a new one re-fitted, not a peep out of it......even excess of 100mph....only did this for test purposes only of course :-) So get into your dealers & tell them.
  14. Hi all, From time to time my VRS diesel will rev high when sitting in traffic. Usually is revs about 800-850 rpm. This increases to, sometimes just over 1000rpm. The only way to reset this is to turn the engine off & restart. When I move in the traffic & come to a stop again, the revs at up again. Can someone please help me out with this. Thanks, Graham.
  15. I have a bike carrier that attaches to the towbar. It carries up to 3 bikes & it can tilt to allow you access to the boot. I got it in Halfords in Dublin, but I am sure they can be got in most of their outlets. If you have any problems in sourcing one, let me know & I will get you the name & model number for same.
  16. I left my 07 RS in today to have a similar problem looked at. The noise seemed to be coming from the front of the car, once I pass 70mph. Once there is cross winds the noise comes in earlier. The result from the dealer was that this seems to be a characteristic with the new cars. He said someone from Skoda did take 3 cars from the dealer today for a spin & all cars were the same. A report has been sent to Skoda to see if a solution can be done. Has anyone come across this before ?
  17. I find also not using the cruise control that mpg is better. There was an item on Top Gear once about Jeremy driving to Scotland in an Audi & one of the tips from the boffins for getting better MPG was not to use the cruise control.
  18. OK all just to clarify about the noise in the car. There is no noise up to about 100mph, but as soon a you start to go over this a humming begins. It starts off very low, but the faster you go the louder it gets. It sounds as if it comes from the center of the dash. If there is a head wind, this noise can start at a lower speed.
  19. HA HA very funny little jack. What's the point getting a car that can to excess of 160KPH (100mph), when the noise kicks in at this speed. Very annoying. Lummox, the noise seems to be coming from the centre of the dash. I am leaving it in to be serviced on Monday & I'll see what they say. Should be good to listen to the sh*te that service guys spew of of they gobs.
  20. Hi all, Still new to all this. Have my new VRS now about 6 months. Have only noticed that there is an excessive wind noise once I hit a certain speed. This is like a very loud humming noise.....has anyone else come accross it ? On the seat cleaning, does anyone recommend any cleaning products/treatments for the seat, especially the suede as the gray got a stain on it....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Well hope to hear from you all soon. Safe driving.
  21. I have a new VRS 2.0 (170bhp) & averaging 42mpg. This is combined driving, between the commute into work, 50/50 sitting in traffic & then on motorway. Then at weekends giving it a little push down country roads.
  22. There is a cat next door to me. But my uncle had a setup for his new merc for keeping cats of the bonnet of his car. He got a clicker & hooked it up to the bonet.....you want to see them pussy cats fly......
  23. Thanks lads for all your comments. Will have to keep an eye out for you all when I am out & about. Not sure about the re-mapping just yet, but maybe one item I might get for the car is the Sat-Nav. Any of you guys got it and is it worth the money ? Also would like to know, what cleaning products would you use on the seats....leather/suede. Don't want to leave any makes on it.
  24. Hi all, Picked up my vRS 2.0PD 3 weeks ago. Not a sign of any problems, with lights coming on, on the dashboard. So fingers crossed. Find the car enjoyable to drive as I am mostly doing motorway driving. As for the MPG, I am currently averaging about 47mpg, combined.
  25. New to this forum. Just signed up tonight. From the Republic of Ireland in a village called Stamullen. Delighted with my purchase & cannot drive the car enough. Be good to hear other reviews. Graham.
