Hi, Please forgive me bumping an old thread but I have a headlight issue with my Monte and wonder if anyone can advise please. Car was a Cat D before we bought it, with front end damage so may have had headlight(s) replaced. Had MOT yesterday and it failed on poor alignment on driver's side headlight. Garage reckon the headlight is actually a LHD version not for UK use (this is third MOT the car has had since the repairs and never picked up before). I rang around for a quote for a new light and baulked at the price, so for now have fitted a stick on beam bender to get MOT pass. I came across this thread with regard to the levers for adjusting UK beam for European driving and I have them on my car. So in theory, if the drivers side is LHD light, would setting it in the "down" position be enough to make it RHD compliant, ie the opposite of a UK car being set for European roads. Don't like the naff beam bender sticker as ruins the look of the car. Any advice appreciated, thanks

Just looking for some advice here please ... as title suggests. Had to drive Cornwall to Bristol for Hospital assessment for hubby yesterday. First time really used the Monte SatNav in anger, and worked OK but did get a bit "lost" at times. Voice also has a bit of a stutter ... not sure if an update would overcome this. Its a 2013 Monte, no idea if ever been updated from new I have tried the update portal with VIN no and just replies that can only be updated by dealer at service :( . Is it just a case of picking up a better version on SD card or any do's and don'ts to be aware of. Got to go back to Bristol in a couple of weeks for surgery appointment and I will be driving around on my own for day or 2 whilst he is in hospital, so want to try to make sure its as helpful as possible. Hi all, Just wondering how I change the names on the Paired phones on Amundsen+ please? When I bought the car, had several previous owner phones listed as "Tom, **** and Harry" which I deleted. I paired mine, which came up with just phone brand and Network on the ID. Hubby just changed phone to same as mine, and now his comes up with exactly the same, so if we are both in the car we don't know which is which. Been through the Bluetooth and Phone setup menus and cannot find anywhere to change the phone ID name. Any advice appreciated, thanks

I am sure the wheels on my Monte are made of cheese ... had previous car for 8 years and never dinged the rims, but done it a couple of times now. On way home earlier, had to mount pavement to get past a lorry parked on one way street. Used a drop kerb and took it really steady at acute angle and still managed to take some paint off. Can touch up, but wondering if the rim protectors are worth it? Any recommendations or advice for or against would be great. Are they a self-fit or would we need to get tyre supplier to put them on? Hi, Thanks for reply. In my original post I said I haven't put the clips in yet ... some members here said they hadn't needed them, I have just not fitted yet as only put them on the car yesterday and wanted to leave the windows closed to let them bed in. I did add some extra scotch tape to them though, as never think the small tabs they supply are enough. I will fit the clips to see if this makes a difference. Not wishing to doubt you, but are you sure that the Heko logo on the rear ones should be at the front? TBH I wasn't sure when I went to fit them, so consulted my 206 which I still have here to sell, and although the rears on that are a different shape, they are fitted with logo at the back. The Fabia ones are tapered, and the wider profile matches with the back end of the front ones, so I assumed this was the correct way around. Having looked at a lot of Heko/Fabia pics online, many are fitted this way. I think the other way around, with the narrower profile on the front edge of the rear ones would look really odd, and also trap air at the back edge of the deflector, possibly creating more noise. However, I will bow to greater knowledge here if they should be fitted with the logos towards the front. If it wasn't peeing down outside, I would get some pics. However, it is the front ones making the noise, as lowering front windows stops it.

Thanks, I am sure I saw a pic of the rotational diagram with diagonal swaps. I have the standard 205/40R's. Checked all pressures yesterday after I'd swapped them. Bit loathed to change them back really, as the best condition wheels are now on the driver's side where they are safest from the kerb. Might swap the front to back on passenger side and see if that makes any difference. I guess the "set" will wear level if I put up with it ... don't do a lot of miles or fast roads, so might take a while

First proper dry day yesterday since I bought my Monte last month, and been itching to get my rear wheels off to paint my flaky drums. Noticed drivers front rim was already kerbed in a couple spots, and the passenger rear is like new, so thought i would swap the good one to the least vulnerable side,. Went out today (I was passenger) and feels really lumpy on the passenger side, but more like the front than the rear where I swapped the wheel to. Hubby was driving and couldn't feel anything through the steering, but I could hear a rotational noise as we sped up and slowed down especially on smooth roads. All we have changed is the wheels, we inspected the tyres when they were off the car and they all seem good, no damage obvious. Walls look fine, no bulges. I know tyres wear at different rates, but I rarely replace more than one at the time, so always going to have different ages on same axle at some point. I am assuming its a balancing issue, but which wheel? Feels like front passenger side to me, but we didn't swap this one. Don't really want to have to take them all off to balance. Might swap them back just to prove it goes away, but surely, all wheels should fit anywhere on the car, and my tyres are not directional, so not sure why there is an issue? Any ideas please? Thanks

Fitted my Hekos at the weekend. Look great, even my 17 year old son who never notices anything says so too. However, took car on dual carriage way for first time , and anything over 45mph and sounds like I have a budgie whistling away on my shoulder. If I open window half an inch it stops, but when closed its really annoying. Both sides are the same, what a pain in ar$e ... I have had Hekos on previous cars, and hubby has them on his van, any never had any issues with noise. I haven't fitted the clips, as they seem snug enough without them, but might try them in different places both sides to see if they help ... any suggestions please - other than ditch them ?

Hubby and I always leave our cars is gear wherever we park, with handbrake on just one click. Ever since he came out one morning and found his car had crept down out of his drive, across the road and came to rest against neighbour's wall. Never trust handbrake alone, even on the flat ...

I have just bought spare wheel, picking up jack later and transferred the other bits and pieces from the minimal tool kit I got with the car to my tool box. Have the "tweezer" tool for removing nut caps, but almost missed the wire loop/hook ... thanks

Hi all, got my spare wheel now, but of course, I also need a jack. Is any Skoda jack OK? Seen a few on eBay and others, but not sure if I need a specific Fabia one. Looking for wind defectors for Fabia II MC. I know some people think they look naff, but I quite like them. Had Hekos on my 206, but read a few reviews they they are not so good on the Fabias as they have the metal clip fittings and don't "seat" well in the thick window rubbers. Even saw a test on You Tube where one apparently flew off at speed - had 206 ones on for years and never lost one. I know the recommended Skoda version is the Climair, but they are twice the price. Any advice appreciated, thanks

Thanks for reply. I have had space savers in previous vehicles so know about the reduced speed ... had to drive all the way from Bristol to Cornwall overnight in a Golf fully loaded with camping gear and 2 bikes on the back on a SS once! Cheers for all advice

Thank for all replies. I have decided to go for the steel spare for now as so much cheaper, and may be pick up an alloy spare later on. Now need some size advice please. I have 17" alloys on 205 40/R17s at the moment. Looking online, the steel Fabia wheels I have seen so far are 195/55 R15. I know the higher profile tyre will gain an inch or so diameter, but is this going to be big enough as a spare for me, or do I need to look for at least a 16" - if Skoda do such a thing? And would a standard Fabia steely fit a Monte please?

Thanks all, had job done, excellent. Exact replacement with tint, shading and aerial. I did ring them this morning just to double check, but all OK. Fitted in about 30 minutes, guy even turned up early and waited in his van for a gap in the weather as we have heavy hail showers here today. Lifetime warranty on the fitting and workmanship, so well impressed. Screen actually had a large chip on passenger side which I was going to get sorted when funds allowed, so this has actually done me a favour. Pity I live near an aggregate quarry, so stones on the road are a fact of life, but hopefully won't happen again too soon

They were supposed to be coming to me on Saturday, but rang back to say cancellation and they could fit in tomorrow. If its usually a wait for the correct screen that doesn't bode well that they have one for me, and probably got a standard Fab one off the shelf :( Still, better I find out know then when he has my old screen out I guess ...

Thanks all. Have emailed them back tonight to check that they are aware its a Monte as the booking confirmation email just says Fabia. They took the reg etc when I booked it, so thought that would be enough to get the exact model for correct screen, but will refuse it if the guy turns up with a bog standard Fabia one. Auto Windscreens are doing it so you would think they should know, or at least check if its a special edition model. Interesting about the embedded aerial wire, not actually noticed that on mine so will have to check in daylight tomorrow. Hoping he does turn up with the right one, as the crack has crept another half inch or so today (I marked the end of it yesterday) so don't want to be driving it too many more days before its sorted.
