  1. Hi, update on this today, Skoda have thankfully offered a 50% contribution!
  2. Skidpan, Yes, I prefer the indirect but do you think providing I reset after the 19" wheels are fitted all will be ok? Thanks, Dave .
  3. Yes it was an approved Skoda car Xman - take your point and thanks for the advice regarding rubbing the disks down. I'll see what they come back with first - if they will partially or fully contribute towards new disks. Expecting a reply by tomorrow. Dave.
  4. I'm not with the car at the moment, but will a post a picture later tonight. Regarding replacement, Skoda have said that the braking efficiency of the vehicle as a whole is fine. But, the condition of the discs looks bad and I'm getting juddering at high speed braking so I'm not happy so intending on replacing them. I only bought the car in January 18, so I presume that car was parked up in the dealership for a while until I bought it, but the condition of the disks then were visually ok. Mileage wise, I do around 1,250 miles per month and it's mostly motorway trips. Dave.
  5. Hello all, I currently have the 17" 5 spoke SE alloys and am looking to upgrade to a 19" (non Skoda, aftermarket) set. I am just making sure that the TPMS wont have any issues. From what I understand, it detects difference's in rotational speeds, so once the new wheels were fitted I was going to reset the TPMS on the infotainment screen and was hoping that would be ok? Thanks, Dave.
  6. Hello all, Currently having a dispute with my local Skoda main dealer regarding corroded rear brake discs. My car is a Superb '66' plate 1.4 TSI (150nhp), the mileage has just turned 22.5k. Given the car's young age and mileage covered, I do not expect both rear disks to be badly corroded and cause juddering when braking. When I took my car in last week, I felt a bit fobbed off with 'general wear and tear' reasoning, and that, perhaps understandably, Skoda UK are very reluctant to carry out brake repairs under warranty. I just feel this isn't good enough, a disk's life should surely be longer than this? The problem is highlighted further by the fact the front disks still look like new! Anyway, the service manager has now contacted Skoda UK to see it they can either part or fully fund both rear disk replacements. Any opinions/experiences would be most welcome! (Please note there are no obvious contributory reasons for this to have happened, car is in regular use and driven carefully with a mix of motorway and town driving)
  7. Martinib, was there a big difference in road noise with the Michelin’s? Thanks
  8. thanks for the reply, did you change all 4 tyres of just front 2? Do you remember the approx cost?
  9. Hello all, I’m about to replace tyres on my SE TSi and currently have Pirelli P1’s, size is 215/55/17. Looking to replace with a mid range alternative, just looking for any advice out there? Dont particularly care about wet grip or any performance related metrics, but do care about sourcing a very quiet tyre if possible. Thanks in advance!
  10. Thanks for all the replies, still torn between buying upgraded standard Skoda and a brand like Oz!
  11. Hello All, Thinking of buying an aftermarket set of good quality 18" or 19" wheels for my TSi SE, currently has the 17" 5 spoke skoda wheels on. Has anyone bough any non-skoda wheels for the superb? Any pictures and thoughts most welcome! Thanks.
  12. Xman, Don’t know if this helps, but I have a 2016 1.4 Tsi 150 Se and have the 17” alloys on (with P7’s). I find it extremely quiet and comfortable, I don’t have dcc either. My previous car was a mk3 Octavia elegance with 17” wheels and found it incredibly noisy at all speeds. I guess what im saying is if you tried 17” wheels - I bet you’d notice a clear difference. Dave.
  13. Evening all, Trying to find the cambelt change interval for my 1.4 TSi (ACT) 150bhp. Can't seem to find any literature online or in owners manual, lack of service book these days doesn't help either... I'm aware that this will not be required at my mileage (14k) and age (August 2016 model), but I'm just curious! Thanks, Dave.
  14. Matt, I’ve got a 150 tsi se model. I think 0-60 is around 8 secs but not 100% sure on that. On a mix of 60% motorway/40% town driving I’m getting a computer average of 47mpg. It it may not feel quick enough for you if your used to Octavia Vrs. That being said, I love the car and can’t believe how quiet, smooth and comfortable it is. The engine is a cracker! Just depends how much you want/need more speed ! The other thing, the Se model doesn’t look sporty at all in my opinion, has the smaller 17” wheels - as a result though it’s a smoother ride ! Depends what your preferences are ! Dave.
  15. Jeff i can see what you are saying. I have a mk3 tsi with 17” wheels, I personally don’t have any issue with excess road noise !
  16. Chirs/MorrisOx, Just to clarify I am talking about a mk3. I've never driven a mk2 so can't comment, and am unsure if there are any improvements on road noise between the marks. One thing I would say is that alloy wheel size is often a factor in road noise, what size wheels do you have on? Thanks, Dave.
  17. Hello all, Completed my first long(ish) round trip today, 380 miles in my 1.4 TSi SE manual. So impressed with its comfort, economy and refinement. From South Wales to North, twisty roads everywhere, but the car took it in its stride! On top of this, had a computer average of 58mpg, albeit with gentle driving patterns. Did the the exact same trip in 2015 Octavia, was a completely different, uncomfortable experience! Cheers, Dave.
  18. Just ordered mine from superskoda, quite a few good deals on the website and a vast range of bits and pieces !!
  19. Afternoon Everyone, After being quoted £180 from my local Skoda dealer to fit a full set of mudflaps to my superb, I decided to look elsewhere. Ive noticed they are on Super Skoda for a fraction of the price. Has anyone experienced ordering parts through them ? Are they genuine parts - any issues with customer service etc? Thanks, Dave.
  20. Thanks for everyone who has contributed to this, would be really good if you can keep everyone updated with The technical departments response !!
  21. Xman/Ianch, i had the noise you are referring to for the first time this morning! Sounds like it could be the starter motor spinning longer than it should? Have Skoda got back to anyone on this potential fault ? Cheers, Dave.
  22. Hi guys, I’m wondering if Skoda offer a day nav upgrade option for my stereo? I have a 2016 1.4 TSi Se with 8” screen (not sure of stereo name) can anyone advise on this ? Thank you, Dave.
