  2. The oil was changed two months ago when it went for its MoT. The level is correct unfortunately.
  3. Thank you. Does the fact that I'm getting a camshaft reading (19.5 degrees out) suggest that the sensor is okay, and the chain is the problem? Or impossible to predict?
  4. The "check engine" light has come on on my 1.4 TSI. It drives fine, and I accot hear any odd noises, but VCDS gives code P0016. If I clear the code it comes back on after a few miles. Measuring block 091 (camshaft adjustment bank 1 intake) reports 19.5 degrees KW B1. Not long ago the car had occasionally been difficult to start and gave a camshaft/crankshaft "improbable signal" error, but that doesn't happen anymore. It has done 95,000 miles, and it had the timing chain and water pump replaced at about 45,000 miles. Please can someone tell me whether the codes suggest that it's time for a new timing chain, or might it be a problem with the sensors?
