  1. i got all the rivets out (prize pain in the arse ),so i got the metal backing plate off far enough,to push the window glass back into place, then i used self cut wooden pegs to jam the glass up while waiting on parts ive taped the metal panel back into place,so we can still use the car in taking the metal backing plate off completely, the one thing i see being a problem is the wiring loom,i followed the loom as far as the door hinge, but found no junction that unclipped the loom,i still haven't pulled back the plastic cover, that goes from the door,to the car interior, that the loom sits in at the door hinge,so i'm hoping theres a clip off junction on the car interior side ? of all the windows ive ever done, the fabia set up is by far the most faffing about ! that said,it's your post that's got me this far,so thanks again mate 🙂
  2. skoda fabia 2006 1.2 petrol my passenger window has fell off it's runner,so the window glass is stuck in the down position when i press the window switch,im hearing the motor working ok,but the glass won't move,as it's no longer on it's runner i am looking for a thread created by @tfboy that was about a speaker replacement guide,in the thread it described how to remove the door card being a 53 year old technophobe,i have tried to search for tfboy original post, but i can't find it... so if anyone could help me,find tfboy thread or any other thread, that will guide me through the passenger door card removal,it would be much appreciated thanks in advance folks
  3. thanks for taking the time to check online, sorry your now getting pestered with updates today,i went to my local scrap yard and as luck would have it,two fabia's were sitting with their front ends already off,so i had the pick of two washer bottles, all i had to do,was take off the 3 x 10mm nuts and the bottle was in my hand, they only charged me a fiver for the bottle and pump (so i'm chuffed with that) tomorrow,i pick up,Bosch disc's,Bosch pads and exhaust middle section from Euro Car Parts (£94.22) i managed to get a N/S heated mirror glass replacement for £7.49,which will arrive in 3 days time so now i just need to source rear jets and plastic cover,do the work and i'm good to go on the MOT resit many thanks to everyone, for your time and advice
  4. thanks for the reply mate it's not about money,it's about getting a part that will fit correctly.... i had a look on,E Bay,Amazon, etc, the sellers were claiming that their plastic cover, that fits over the rear jets and rear wiper arm nut,fit fabia's along with several other types of car, when i look at the plastic covers they are selling, they don't have the correct fittings, they all have a plastic circle with a cut out,so that it's designed to,push over and clip onto a round bar like fitting, there was nothing on my fabia to attatch the cover when i looked up the genuine Skoda plastic cover,i saw it had 2 little raised pins, allowing it to be attatched to the wiper arm fitting, after checking the car,it looks like this is how it should be... i was looking for genuine parts,so i know they will fit correctly first time, with no fiddling about,i,ve got 2 weeks to get my car back for a MOT re sit,so have a time limit.. it failed on,front disc's and pads, middle section of exhaust (flexi part),1 tyre,N/S mirror glass, and windscreen washers.. i have to replace,my washer bottle, rear jets and plastic cover........thanks to @Jonny5ive ......i know what im up against,Thank You Jonny
  5. i am looking for genuine skoda parts... i need rear washer jets and the plastic cover, that goes over the wiper nut and jets i would prefer genuine skoda parts,so i know they will fit correctly... i'm not a fan of universal parts, that claim to fit different cars any advice would be much appreciated
  6. it's great to be here mate i only got my Skoda on Sunday past, for the short time ive been a member on here, the help and advice ive had in sorting out a few niggles on the car,has been invaluable, what a great bunch of folk you all are
  7. when you spray the back window washer, the water jet hits a little plastic cover, then gets re directed upwards onto the back window... mines is missing, could you folks please let me know the best place to buy a new one ?
  8. i'm praying it's 1,2,or 3 mate many THANKS to everyone, for your valueable info and advice TripleMcB,thanks for the links, hopefully i won't need them though TMB the pictures were much appreciated mate
  9. today,i went into the boot and checked the cable and it's securely in place as it should be,when i forced open the petrol flap, the black plastic spring loaded locking pin is correctly in place, also i can easily push the locking pin in,let go and it springs back into the locked position,so the pin moves freely and spring loaded as it should i opened the boot and petrol flap, then watched while my son operated the petrol flap opening lever next to the drivers seat, there was no movement with the petrol flap locking pin as he pulled the lever,i even pushed inward on the cable outer casing in the boot, but there's no movement on the cable,as the cables tight in the socket as it should be when pulling the flap release lever,i don't feel any tension,as you would when pulling a lever connected to a cable so my thoughts were... either, the cable has detatched itself from the black plastic spring loaded flap locking pin...or...the cables nipple on the petrol flap opening lever, has broke off or has jumped out of place... the lever won't retract the locking pin,so i'm thinking, the cables snapped,or the lever end has somehow disconnected is there anything other than a broken cable or disconnected cable, that could be causing my issue ? what do you folks think ? i was going to take the cable out at the flap locking pin end first,to check the pins still attatched to the cable which way do i turn the cable/pin at the socket,to unlock and pull out the cable and plastic pin ? if the pins as it should be,i was going to pull the pin outwards,to see if there's still a nipple on the cable or if the cable is broken and will pull right out of the outer casing if the cable won't pull out it's outer casing, then the nipple should be still attatched,so therefore my problem will be the nipples jumped out of the lever does the above sound like a decent plan ?
  10. just bought my first Skoda Sunday past, full service history with only 62,000 on the clock,it's a great wee car to drive but had what i thought were 3 minor niggles, one of the niggles was my screen washer motor was working but no water was getting to the washers, turns out getting to the windscreen washer tank or replacing it,isn't that minor so if i take the left wheelhouse liner off, will i be able to get a good enough look,to see where the leak is ? the leaks that bad,the waters coming out as fast as i put it in,the waters pouring out just under the O/S front bumper after reading a few threads on here,i found a detailed thread with pictures by Jonny5ive,on converting to a 5ltr bottle, which i have no intention of doing, but it showed me how much work i have ahead of me if i need to replace my washer tank,i'm praying the leaks coming from somewhere i can fix with just the wheelhouse liner removed,so i don't have to go through all that, just to replace a leaking tank before i start the job,do any of you more experienced owners have any advice or tips ? i can't believe how complicated the washer tank is to get to on a Fabia, with all my cars back in the day (i'm getting old),you just lifted the bonnet up,pulled the old washer tank off a bracket, then pushed a new one back in it's place, can't believe ive to take the front bumper off my Fabia,if my tank needs replacing
  11. i'm enjoying Skodaland mate, this is a great wee forum, very helpfull bunch of folk on here, quick replies with great advice also loving driving my wee Fabia, really wish i'd bought a Skoda years ago,ive got a couple of niggles to fix on it,but it's a good wee motor... thanks for the welcome folks
  12. Hello from sunny Scotland folks i'm in my fifeties and just bought my first Skoda,it's a 2005 Fabia, full service history, with just 62,000 miles on the clock,it's a great wee car, wish i'd bought a Skoda sooner !
  13. many thanks for the great info folks and the pictures Red Studio will have a look at the cable tomorrow and let you know how it goes
  14. i'm in my fifties and just bought my first skoda, wish i'd bought one sooner as it's a great wee car... it's a skoda fabia 1.2 htp 2005,full service history, with 62,000 miles,as said i'm loving this wee car,but... when i pull the petrol flap release lever,on the floor at the side of drivers seat, nothing happens, the central locking system seems to unlock doors, boot, petrol flap,as i was able to manually with a decent amount of force open the flap, i had to pull firmly but cauciously, force the flap open with my fingers, filled up with fuel, then clicked flap back into place with no issues, flap stays secure i had a look while the flap was open, and the black release pin is in place, when i push it in,it springs back into place, but when i pull the cable, the pin doesn't move/retract ? is it just a case of fitting a new release cable ? if so,where is the best place to buy one ? i appreciate any help/advice you more experienced skoda owners could give me on how to deal with the above issue
