  1. Play with a wheel and tyre calculator it predicts about 3 kg extra for a 19 over an 18 with everything else the same. obviously if you get some fancy lightweight wheels you can offset it. Ive been told racing types wouldnt use bigger diameter wheels for racedays because of it. I just wondered who we have around who know there stuff and is a bit clever. No point just spacing out the same size wheels or just changing the ET so it sticks out more i want to get a wider tyre so it doesnt wheelspin so much. i got it chipped to 300bhp and want to try to use that power rather than just wear out tyres and make the skid light on the dash light up. Has anyone got 9J 18 inch wheels to fit without it rubbing ?
  2. Realise this is an old thread but im not sure why you are all going up to 19 inch wheels when they dont add to grip and make the unsprung weight so much more which is not a good thing for handling. I can understand going wider and im trying to find out whats the biggest width we can get in the wheel arch without any problems with the lighter 18 inch diameter wheels? If im going to add weight i want extra grip as a trade off. Any ideas where to ask if you dont know? Thanks
  3. The only downside of firmer bushes is more vibration and engine noise transmitted through the chassis. Comfort or performance? the trick is to find a compromise you are happy with
  4. If you have axle tramp it should improve it tuned or not . Your modifications to suspension will also effect it. All bushes the harder they are the more accurate it holds the components to do their job better but the more noise and vibrations you get
  5. It eliminated almost all the axle tramp i would say 80 to 90% if i had to quantify. I've had mine mapped so getting that extra power down is the objective. Wider wheels and tyres is my next plan to stop the wheelspin.
  6. 10 months later and the yellow one is working fine but i do get noticeable vibration in reverse that people comment on .
  7. Reviews if you need advice. Personally I love my Michelin pilot 4's http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyres_For/Skoda/Octavia-vRS.htm
  8. I know the Octavia uses a energy reclamation technique where it only uses the alternator on braking in your normal driving cycle if the battery gets too flat it kicks in and charges it but it leaves the battery at not full charge so it can utilise this technique to improve your fuel ecconomy
  9. That could be why my phone keeps asking me for a work address. I'm a freelance builder so I'm all over the place and my phone can't work it out. Guess I'm driving it crazy lol. I am not a number. can't pigeon hole me. Ha ha
  10. I was looking at all that then got it mapped at 303 and thought feck it that's enough wheelspin and traction control lights to cope with I'll save my money on the rest.
  11. Putting a screen protector on will reduce the sensitivity so you may end up having problems selecting stuff especially while you are driving and have to keep more attention on the road.
  12. I would love to see your rolling road torque and bhp data once you have that done
  13. I think that is what You get from a reputable remap on a standard mk3 tsi Mine was from quantum tuning. I hardly ever get to unleash all the horses. But when I do the grin on my face is worth every penny.
  14. I remember someone saying they had but I can't remember what thread that was in but it was recently.
  15. Sounds like a diverter valve symptom. If it's not always closing properly the turbo pressure will sometimes be lower due to it leaking. There are replacement versions that work even better than the original. There are people who know far more about it than me. this may point you in the right direction. not sure how to definitely diagnose it https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-Seat-Skoda-VW-2-0-2-5-TFSi-GFB-Diverter-Valve-Golf-R-GTi-S3-Not-Dump-Valve/331903449578?hash=item4d46fcb9ea:g:QDcAAOSwEyhZ34bh.
  16. Well they arrived just got to get the time to fit them now. Still can't be sure they will fit they look quality but it was raining when I went out to check, not taking the wheels off in the rain and the parking is crowded outside my house on a weekend
  17. Ooh flip. Right now I am hoping its a typo and they are a standard size Buy cheap buy twice lol.
  18. Try using android auto. mirrorlink has largely been superseded by it to stop people using phone functions while driving that are technicaly illegal. The things you shouldn't be looking at whilst driving for safety reasons.
  19. If you bring the almost flat battery spare key near the car it will set an error code that will stay on the memory for a while that's probably why they advise changing the bat in the spare key. If you have an obd2 reader you will see the error code for that and can clear it if you want. I have been told that kind of error will eventually clear itself if it doesn't reoccur for a while.
  20. 2 different versions you need to get under your car and see what one you need. Take a photo of your engine mount so you can compare that's the easiest way as they are very similar at first glance
  21. Not got the honeycomb effect but should be fine for my purposes I'm hoping the chrome edge will match up ok with the wheel diamond cut effect https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-SKODA-Centre-Caps-VRS-Logo-Wheel-60mm-Hub-Badge-Emblem-FABIA-OCTAVIA-YETI/182977085774?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  22. Ebay black vrs centers 8 quid got a set on order now. Super Skoda were considerably more expensive. I'll let you know how they look. coming next week
