  1. thats a feature of vag vehicles they auto recycle when in reverse or you use the screenwasher prevents fumes or nasty niffs it also does the same if selected with the auto recirculate if in town for exhaust fumes aircare as the OP pointed out is different and so far I cannot see how to enable it full time most annoying
  2. my Roof bars and bikes are at my parents house in the South , we have a mk2 and now a mk3 estate and we are going down shortly so will be bringing back the bikeson the roof however I was wondering if anyone knew if the cross bars off the mk2 estate would fit the mk3 estate if not we can get some newer ones before we go down
  3. have a similar question I have a 17 SE Tech which has all round warning/self park etc yet no blind spot assist yet if someone stands near the door when either stopped or if i select revers i get a warning to say theres an obstruction at that point do i or dont I have it? Must say this feels a lot cheaper in general than our fully specced mk2 estate and not as solid either.
  4. took my local mechanic 20 mins to swap this for me cost me £27.00 for the part plus a half litre of coolant skoda didnt even know there was a DSG stat until i gave them the part numbers apparantly they have had a couple in with the same issue and been baffled pff, main dealers!
  5. well not really the responsible thing would have been to allow him across and not risk an accident, nobody has a deliberate accident its just a combination of errors, so the beemer guy made an error, and that means you have to slow and add 20 seconds to your journey am sure we have all done the same with lanes in the past at some stage, its an error not the end of the world bit of room wouldnt have hurt would it.
  6. not on dual carriageways or mways as it is also part of the highway code that you keep to the left, the assumption then being once you have completed your overtake you will come back across to the lane you should be in, the rules around indicating etc have changed a little since i presume many on here took there test as an example if your pulling out into the road if nothing is coming you dont indicate my daughter was told she would possibly fail if she indicated for no reason ie nothing coming up behind
  7. A556 sorry you were in the wrong in my opinion, in fact you speeded up to catch the car in front, you could easily have left a space for them, perhaps they were lost.
  8. think there was room there tbh and you dont actually have to indicate when pulling back in
  9. yes i had it and HHC enabled on my superb and it works quite well but only when really being a bit of a loon such as hard powering out of corners or roundabouts when you can really feel the difference as the system stops inner wheel spin but only above about 20mph from what i can tell maybe there is a set speed for it to kick in and the car just plain grips and goes, mines also remapped so it was pretty much a must have to ensure i could use the extra oomph but day to day driving ie traffic lights set offs etc the TC does its thing but not very well
  10. remapped 170 to 200+ DSG 2wd estate average mpg with mixed town driving is around 41-43 motorway at or below 70 you can get close to 51-55 @70 plus is back down to 46 @100 your at 36-38 (on the autobhan of course) we usually get about 550 miles between refills but to be honest dont worry about it too much
  11. does this work on all models or do you need some sort of specific BCM etc? if all am going to have one i think
  12. just removed my 6k old set of hankook ventus v12 evo2s and fitted cross climates, have had the hankooks on other cars and been very impressed but they just did not suit the superb they seemed to be floaty and lacked grip when pulling away then again I have a remap but the grip just wasnt there, previously it had contis on and i hated those they tramlined like crazy and made the car very unsettled. The cross climates so far feel great and as a decent all round tyre that will offer decent grip in colder weather and snow plus all year use then am happy so far, besides which costco have 80.00 off a full set so 346.00 all in not to be sneezed at
  13. yes but at low power so it doesnt dazzle
  14. ahh k in that case its the main beam lights that are the drls
  15. if its the same as Fords who pretty much pioneered these screens then they wont work unless the temp falls below 5 deg cant say if they are but the last 3 fords i have had which were all commercials did this
  16. i believe the FL have led drls in the headlights anyway the non FL have it in the foglight houseing
  17. maybe you should just call into skoda and get them to check it after all a new or rebuilt box costs far more than them doing that
  18. are you sure the ecu is aware your towing? sounds like the car is trying to compensate for the extra load by slipping the clutch a bit remember these are auto clutch manuals not automatics so the drive is like a standard gearbox if the ecu senses a stall it will slip or disengage the clutch to recover revs just like you would with a manual.
  19. have to be honest and say i personally cover about 200 miles a day on average and most of what i have seen on these vids is just folks getting a bit precious about standards, we all have times when we rush or need to get a move on and some ditherer is in the way, speedy drivers are not always the most dangerous, often you will see someone plodding along at rush hour doing 25mph with a mile long que behind them of folks who frankly need to get to work and perhaps should have set off sooner but that's another topic, however the slower driver causes all this frustration behind them and inevitably one or more of those cars will once they have cleared the driver make a poor judgement either through frustration or being late. The overtake at night-time was dangerous, the fiesta nah that's modern driving live with it, as for all the cut up on the roundabout stuff perhaps a glance at the newer highway code will help these days there are no specific lanes for turning right etc as there were many years ago, in fact if you pull out onto a clear road and indicate you will be marked down on your driving test. Ever notice motorway patrol cars usually do about 85-90mph that's to make sure they don't cause a bottle neck behind them, if in doubt use your common
  20. had springs break on my previous passat as well i had both changed springs weaken after so many cycles it may not "feel" unduly different but try a sudden move at any kind of speed and the extra give on one side may well make itself known, like shocks only in pairs fwiw i do the same with tyres
  21. from personal experience i would say very much so but hopefully i am wrong, but for my wife who had full NCD and protected hit by another car whilst stationary, its on record you have made a claim therefore your a higher risk even if its not your fault and this is legal?
  22. hmm no on the mway its fine been well over the uk speed limit on a Autobhan and it handles fine, however on the twisty 40-70mph A and B roads in the UK it can feel a bit wallowy if you want to push on certainly more so than my passat B6 with the same engine (170 TDI) but its also more comfortable so something has to give, out of curiosity will the antiroll bars from the Octavia VRS fit the superb that might be a way forward but i still think a general control uprate rather than a stiffness increase would be more beneficial on the superb
  23. put it in sport and see how it behaves i find it makes a world of difference to the box and the way the car drives, however these cars may be passat/A6 based but they do have bigger overhangs and am inclined to agree they can be a bit wallowy on certain roads and they certainly like to lean, stiffer dampers and bushes should cure it and maybe a slightly larger wheel ie 19s with a drop of 1 inch on standard rate springs. Power wise VAG didnt make an engine specifically for skoda so i bet there is some truth to the detuned bit but what exactly did they detune
