  1. Incidentally I don't have access to vcds so can't check :(
  2. I have no idea mate as all sensors didn't click or anything so just assumed the control box was knackered
  3. Hello everyone, Its been a while since I was here but I have just picked up a 1.4 16v fabia 3 and have had an issue with the parking sensors. Just had the single tone denoting a fault. Now I have removed the brain with a view to replace it but can anyone tell me if it would need recoding to the car ? Thanks Simon
  4. Many thanks for that, I'm not too worried re: economy, after all I have the vRS octy diesel so Mid 40's would be very acceptable to me, That said I will be losing a huge chunk of power and torque :(
  5. I currently have a 2.0 TDi vRs Octy but am finding it too large for what I need now so have been looking at swapping it for a Fabia 1.6 level 3 ? My question is I have heard that this engine has a timing chain ? is this correct ? I may look at the 1.9 diesel version but there arnt many about in the south west :( Thanks
  6. Hello people I am back after a rather lengthy break from skodas I had to sell my Furby BUT I am now the owner of a Corrida red vRS Octy 2 I have to admit I have missed the torque of the diesel 130 I had before so now have the PD170 Well at least I think its the PD engine LOL Its a 2007 model so believe so Anyway off to see whats what these days and I'm after a Haynes manual for it if anyones selling one ?
  7. Sorry for the lack of update guys, Phill I have sent a PM mate "My problem turned out to be 'loose' front wishbone bolts. now when I say loose I dont mean you could move them or undo em with your fingers but were loose enough to cause some movement of which the noise generated sounded like wheel bearings, driveshaft, suspension link rods etc. May be worth sticking a Torque wrench on the wishbone bolts to see and whilst there do what I did and check all the rest Hope it helps mate as It drove me nuts and I had to stick it in a garage and for £20 they did up a few bolts > " Cheers Simon
  8. Bit of an update I have replaced a n/s bottom ball joint but this turned out NOT to be the case, the CV joints are fine (no clicking on full lock etc) All other bushes are ok except the *dogbone* mount at the bottom of the engine which has some play in it, After removeing it this evening on closer inspection it looks as though it has started to perish allowing the engine to rock excessively front to back This will need changing in due course but could this be the culprit ?? While I had the nearside apart I did check the caliper and all seemed ok even the pads so have discounted that for now. Its just an annoying thing that is not blarringly obvious but sounds bloody horrible so need to get it sorted once and for all Also could it be the Link rods making this type of noise??
  9. Thanks for the replys guys Its defo not the CV joint as has been done along with Gaiter I was thinking a caliper problem but its Hissing down here at the moment so will have a better look over the B/Hol weekend
  10. Hello peeps I have a rather frustrating clicking noise coming from what I believe is the nearside front of the car. It does it mainly when coming to a stop but also does it on accelaration between 1st and 3rd gears. I have checked the obvious like suspension joints/bushes,wheel bearing and engine mounts and the only thing I have noticed is that the engine can be rocked a bit front to back by hand and there is some play in the lower engine mounting. any advice on what to check/fix would be cool guys as it is driving me mad :(
  11. Cheers for that, Yes did a search on here and would rather leave car std so might have to look into replaceing it at some point :(
  12. Hello everyone I have been informed that my EGR valve on my vRS is leaking oil !! I was told this by the garage who did my cambelt yesterday. Is this something to worry about and if so what is the remedy. The car has done 102500 miles on a 53 plate and runs as sweet as a nut with no apparent problems. Thanks Simon
  13. Sorry Brian, The Mrs bought me a new TomTom for christmas so I wont be needing this after all :( Thanks anyway
