  1. Interesting then with stronger springs they have derated the tow capacity. For me I need the tow capacity, not 7 seats.
  2. 2 issues.... cost, and paying for something I won't use. Secondly, 7 seat version cannot tow 2.2T its derated. Only model that can is base level 5 seater.
  3. I am aware that Land Rover has an accolade as a rugged go anywhere do anything vehicle .... and drove many variants in the Army, and also thought of as an unreliable overpriced remnant of British manufacturing, now owned by an Indian company. One thing is for sure the Discovery Sport is the highest-selling land rover in the range and has superb residuals. https://landrover.rockar.com/blog/land-rover-tops-the-residual-values-chart? Will I have a reliable car, or a pain .... yet to find out I had previously to the Kodiaq a Jeep Cherokee which was the most unreliable car I have had in my life .... 2 complete transmissions in first 12 months, and it was in the garage for 16 weeks of the first year. Genuinely happy with my Kodiaq - and if they had the same engine (or one with equivalent tow capacity) I would have another with no hesitation.
  4. My Kodiaq has been very reliable, economical to run, comfortable, easy to drive and the only concern was the one time I wanted 4x4 capability it failed, as the Haldex unit had not been serviced (dealer never mentioned it) It was bought as I need 2.2T tow capacity and eth 190PS engine provided that with the Auto box. At the 3 yr point when I would normally change out mileage was low, so I paid off PCP and run it on for another 2 years. After 4.5 years it finally needed new front tyres, pretty impressive how they lasted ..... car sold on at 39,000 miles and rear tyres still have plenty of life. Did a few jobs myself .... changed rear discs & pads, did the last 2 oil changes that were needed, all other services were as dues and performed by main dealer. If they made a 5 seat car high spec that could tow 2.2T I would have had another, but all they could offer was base model ... and having lived with Edition model (which had everything) no way was I going back to basic. At the last service they pointed out that in Mar there was an expensive item coming up .... as well as full service new water pump & timing chain, which is a high labour charge event (£500+ job)..... so finally decided to move on. 5 years is the longest I have kept any car, overall Skoda gets a sound 9 ot of 10 from me, get back to 2.2T tow capacity and I'd have another. Now have a shiny New Landrover Discovery Sport D200 5 seat .... which is the model that can tow 2.5T
  5. What I meant was how easy is it to get pump off to inspect the mesh …. Obviously removing mesh itself is just 2 screws. Does that video Imposted match task on Kodiaq.
  6. How easy is it to get to that filter …. As I have no way of knowing if it has been cleaned … they only mentioned oil change. Is it the same as this video … which looks easy enough https://youtu.be/eTmsq1znWzY
  7. You do expect the main dealer for a manufacturer to know what is required .... but what you expect & reality don't match.
  8. I only found out there is an option of a Haldex service when 4 wheel drive didn't work. The car had every service by the dealer (3 yr old at that point) they never mentioned Haldex service until I reported the 4WD problem. As a driver I expect Dealer to advise me of items that need to be done.
  9. To conclude .... Inspection done, car collected. No issue with me informing them I did not need oil or filter change. They have advised that cambelt & water pump will be due to be changed in 5 months time ...... Have to think about that one - their charge was over £600 to do this.
  10. Agree ... but its a required item to have the Inspection, and as some have commeneted the warranty requires it ..... and the car is in today to have it done. They are charging £45 so I'm happy with that.
  11. I have had company cars for the past 30 years ... and never needed to know how they work, drove them and simply booked the car in when it reached appropriate mileage or light came on. I no longer have a company car - so recommencing doing some of my own work, I come to the forum to get help, that is why I asked the Q. I had never heard of a Halkdex unit, I just drove cars, .... didn't worry about what made them go. When the 4x4 played up Dealer advised about Haldex oil change - I did not know anything about that, sorry if that seems strange. I am sure there are loads of parts of the car that I do not know about. The DEALER asked me today if I wanted the pollen air filter changed, in their words "it is an optional item" at this age/mileage point/Inspection for the car. It is not an automatic dealer replacement. I opted not to - and have ordered to fit myself after the details above. Why is that so confusing ? If my questions bother you, I am sorry for that, there is no such intent, please feel free to ignore the thread and scroll on by. I'm genuinely glad of the help I have received from people on this forum, and as a result have been able to undertake those tasks that I choose to do (to save costs), while allowing the Dealer to still carry out services, and therefore maintain my warranty. This is the first car out of my last 15 cars that I have kept past the 2 year point, and am glad of items that allow me to keep the upkeep costs down.
  12. Fair play after my post above .... had a call from Dealera reminding me of Inspection Service tomorrow - confirmed they know I have performed oil & filter change, and made me aware that Pollen filter is also due for changing - did I want it done. Good of them to remind me (but had just ordered one for £11) So credit to Dealer - they are on form this time.
  13. The 2 numbers you give: VW AG 500.819.669 CZ145530.2051 FP 26 009 09.01.20 Assume both are the same thing ... just different manufacturers
  14. My dealer said Haldex oil change was optional and had not been done on the service as I had not specifically asked for it (why would I know this ?) You would expect main dealer to advise you on what must & could be done.
  15. Good point .... so all Kodiaq's have a pollen filter ? ..... is so where are they .... I should take a look at mine One thing that came about last year 4 wheel drive was not working efficiently, and it was the oil change in the Haldex unit .... when I asked if it had been done, it hadn't ..... seems it's only an option and not mandatory on service. I didn't know to ask !
