  1. I think your bang on. The term the repair shop used was, the components weve put in haven't fixed it. I had to wait near on 3 weeks because the components came from Belgium. Must of walked for them
  2. Just wasnt working one day. No screen, just completely blank. Brought it to skoda in November. They diagnosed it said it needed a complete new unit at £1000 cost. Too expensive so i put it off over xmas, rang skoda back up to see if I could get a diagnostic report from the last time. The manager told me they didn't k ow what was up with it. So then he told me to go to an audio place who and I quote ... have more chance of fixing it as we dont know how to. Been in there 3 weeks, all theyve said is, its the screen, the radios fine and we cant fix it . Really just given up at this point !
  3. Ahh, I thought there was ! Of the part no is the same it should be honkey dorey ?
  4. Hi rustynuts. I've managed to get a display, I just wondered if it needed coding. My radio is working, it's just a new screen. I'm not sure if it needs coding to work or whether I can just plug and play as it were ?
  5. Hi there, I've got a 2014 Octavia se 105. I'm after buying a new screen as mine isn't working. The radios fine, just wondering if I have to code it when I get the screen and how to do it ? I'm in the Manchester area. Thanks guys and girls
  6. Ahh ok, Thankyou ! Would this need coding ? If so, is there anywhere you know of other than a lookers that do it ! They're extortionate
  7. Hi there! 14 plate Octavia set 105 non sat nav . I need a touchscreen, the radio is fine but the screen is irreparable. Part number is 5e0919605bio Please help !
  8. Hi all, I've been pointed to yourselves by some helpful people on another post. I'm after a control unit/radio unit for a 2014 octavia se without Sat nav. Reason being, because mine is broken ! If any of you have one of be really grateful of your let me now ! Thankyou !
  9. That is guys. I'll check the thread above. Everyone I speak to dealer and garage wise are trying to say you can't re use the old radios as they're a one time only code. so are trying to charge me the arty for a new one. I'll let you know how I get on.
  10. Hi langers. Ok so it worked out as the control unit. I have a part number but it's at home. Basically it needs a new one and some garages are saying it needs a brand new one which is around £1000 with vat and fitting and some are saying you can re-code a second hand unit. Although the latter is proving hard to find as mine doesn't have a sat nav ! So yeah, that's me a bit Stuck at the minute !
  11. Your a star ! I'm not so clued up so please excuse my terminology. He was on about a hdmi lead and some other stuff. I don't know so much as you can tell but something didn't seem to add up. I've googled the bolero to and it's only in the 2 to 300 so I'm thinking maybe lookers are expensive as it's 700 for the parts alone. I've got it booked in with a gentleman tomorrow for a diagnostic which will hopefully show the code. I'll keep you updated if you like ? Thanks again !
  12. Hi guys and girls. I'm hoping you can help. I've got a mk3 octavia se diesel 1.6. It's got a touchscreen with not much on it aside the usual stuff no say nav egg just the standard se spec. Now the problem is my screen is blank . Brought it into skoda lookers and he said it's the radio in the glove box. He reckons the "brains of the car" are there and it controls the tire pressure, service info, basically everything and it's broke so quoted me £990 for a new one with fitting. Problem bro g, between my dials on the drivers instruments. It still works apart from the phone connecting and radio. I don't really know what to believe but so egging doesn't seem right here. Any help ?
  13. Quite happy to for you ! It’s due back weds but I’m going to go in tomorrow and give them a kick up the bum
  14. Hi guys, progress has occurred at least. They need to replace the cooling unit. £570 something to do with the seals or something. Bit annoyed tho as they didn’t run a cooling systems check on Tuesday when they knew the heating was an issue but hey ho ! Thanks again for all your help
  15. It’s booked in tomorrow. Bizarre turn of events how the car can be so rock solid one minute and the next it’s falling apart. I’ll be passing in all of this info to the mechanics just in case they miss anything. Really appreciate the information your all passing on.
  16. Oh really ? I’ll have a look now, thanks gttoma !
  17. If there’s no damage and it’s fixable it’s not really an issue but it’s definitely not acceptable to send out vehicles that aren’t roadworthy. If I wanted that I’d of fixed it myself ! Thanks guys, I’ll keep you updated
  18. It’s booked in for Saturday now. As I said, the first time it did it (Tuesday I think) I booked it in to skoda, they gave it the all clear “, Wednesday I used it and it was fine on small trips but this morning, it’s done it again so I pulled over and it’s been parked ever since. Should be back to the garage saturday but I’m a little dubious about whether they will fix it properly or not ! Bit of a mess about really
  19. It’s a weird one actually, when Skoda took it in it didn’t actually show any logs on the fault log (their words). It came up on the centre display telling me the temperature was excessive and I presume telling me to pull over or something to that effect. It was only momentarily and the beeping starts (like when a doors open or a seatbelt isnt on. There was no lights on the dash itself (that I remember)
  20. Hi there, its the bottom left of the picture attached. If it is the coolant, when checking the water, it seems tepid and not hot at all, I think maybe what has been suggested above may be correct and it may be a thermo/coolant problem ? N.b the picture is from images as it’s howling outside !
  21. The oil temp has dropped when I slow down, it seems to be at sustained speed on the motorway. I believe it’s the oil temperature gauge. Sits in the Rev gauge ? If it is the thermostat or water pump ? What price would I be looking at ? It stays at 130 until I slow down, then within 5-10 minutes of slowing down it goes back to 90. thanks guys
  22. Hi guys and girls, I have a 2014 Octavia 1.6 diesel green line, it’s done around 51,000 (motorway) miles and never skipped a beat. However, this week I have found my first fault ! Whilst doing 70-75 the oil gauge which usually sits at 90 went to 130 and the car gave me the usual warnings. I brought it to lookers to be looked at, they did a diagnostic and said there were no warnings on the fault log. They did a full service and said it should be fine. Today it happened again and I really am not sure what to do. Lookers charge a fair bit to look at it and since they already have and couldn’t find anything, I thought I’d seek some help from you good people. If anyone has an idea or has encountered it before please feel free to educate me ! thankyou, Alex
