  1. Hi guys, so update on the dsg issue and abs issue. The rear left abs sensor had been split in two by rust flakes from the abs tone ring. Changed the sensor and replaced the bearing (as the ring comes as one with the bearing) all is well now with the dsg, changing as it should. new problem, a/c has stopped working. does Skoda use a clutchless system or a clutched system. Vcds shows no errors, looked at the compressor, the belt pulley is turning but the centre section isn’t. There’s no noise, checked fuses all good. Anybody had had any issues with their a/c? Any help would be useful. regards Scottandbobbie
  2. Hello people of Briskoda. So I’ve had my first problem with the Superb. I’m fairly sure I know what the issue is but would be greatly appreciative for an addition input. So, three days ago, driving home from work, noticed the dsg (I was driving in D) was holding onto 3rd gear, sometimes changing at 4000rpm! Since then the problem has gotten worse, 3rd,4th,5th all holding until 4000rpm. If I use the manual option it changes fine but as soon as I revert to D it changes down one gear, ie manual 6 down to D5 etc. The abs, esp and tyre monitoring system warning lights have come up twice. Investigation shows a intermittent mechanical failure on the rear left abs sensor (G46). So to the bit that I need assistance with. Am I right in thinking the dsg looks at the abs sensor data to work out how fast the car is traveling and to work out what gear to be in? Also has anyone had this problem before and did the abs sensor sort the problem. I’ve checked the history and the dsg oil was changed 11350 miles ago and looking online, I’ve not got any symptoms of Mechatronic failure (PRNDS flashing, sticking in 3rd, no reverse etc). Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Apart from this issue the car has been great, economical and comfortable, also nobody believes me when I say how many miles it’s covered. regards Scottandbobbie
  3. The LED I got off amazon, they are perfectly ok for the job and fit everywhere apart from the glovebox which has a festoon type bulb. I did the footwells, boot lights (in the tailgate for an estate), puddle lamps in the mirrors (glass out and use a pair of long nose pliers to pull the waterproof grommet out) and all the overhead lights. Just be aware, when you take out the footwell lights and boot lights you have to remove the metal cover to gain access to the bulb, it’s not that easy to remove the cover, just use a tiny flat blade screw driver. The bulb is fiddly to get out and the new one back in but it can be done. Also bend the contacts for the bulb holder to heather a bit more for the LED bulb to catch it. You will need 13 bulbs in total (missing out the glovebox). It makes a big difference to the look of the car at night.
  4. Cheers DEL80Y, sorry about the delay in my reply. I noticed the previous owner had snow and winter tyres on the back of the superb, changed front to rear and hey presto, it was a little slippery but I noticed a massive improvement in grip, now everything has thawed I’ve swapped them back. just done the DSG in-line thermostat or regulator as Skoda call it, perfect, heats up nicely and the mpg has gone up too. £27.70 from Skoda direct. Next thing to sort is this Lambda sensor, the error B1S1 sensor signal high (too rich) has come back. on a different note, interior lights are now LED and so are the puddle lights, next on the list will be the DRL’s and the fog lights. still very impressed by the Superb and Yes there’s been some niggles but the odd couple of sensors are an acceptable amount of work for a car that’s now covered 220535 miles. thanks to everyone again for their input it’s been a great help. regards Scott.
  5. Hi, does anybody know if you can put the DSG gearbox into winter mode? Or if there even is a winter mode. Regards Scott
  6. Hello people of Briskoda, thought I would post a photo of the Superb, it’s completed it’s first week of commuting, averaging 44.3mpg (actual). The DSG in-line thermostat (or coolant regulator as Skoda call it) will be arriving on Friday (cost £28.78) from Skoda, so that will be that little issue sorted. LED interior lights have been installed and the passenger led indicator has been replaced (tricky job removing the wing mirror casing). So all in all it’s looking good. Thank you you to all who have given input it’s been a real help. Thank you. If anybody is interested while I’m doing the coolant regulator, I could take a video/some pictures? Regards Scott.
  7. Hey fantastic people of Briskoda, thank you so so much for all the help and input, this really is a very very good forum. I shall look at the DSG oil cooler thermostat this weekend and go from there. Thank you again. Scott
  8. Hello, I’m on the hunt to see if anyone has had this odd problem. today I got in the car to drive to work (42miles, all a/b roads with 6miles of duel carriageway). The temp never got above 50degc. The needle move off the stop a few times then dropped back down. Oil temp on MFD never got above 66 and I noticed the car was idleing at 1000rpm. Is this common or is it a thermostat problem. Other than that will is good, the led in the footwell and overhead lights look good as well now. regards Scott
  9. Sadly it’s a no to HHC, the coding is being accepted, then the module says it’s the incorrect one fitted and throws up esp fault. Never mind.
  10. DEL8OY, you should be a psychic. I’m literally searching for Vcds coding for that. Do you happen to know it (please, pretty please) I’m also looking for a way to unlock video in motion as well. regards Scott
  11. Hi gianthotdog, great handle by the way! Yeah it said it was S1B1, I’ve cleared the dtc’s this morning and so far no light, if it come back on I shall look on the forum for your “how to” and change it. Thank you. regards Scott
  12. Result, my VCDS works with the Skoda. The check engine light was caused by a Lambda sensor being too rich. I’ve cleared the codes which were a lot (new battery replaced by previous owner) and now she’s totally fault free on VCDS. Has anybody had any experience of this Lambda sensor fault? Will see how the car goes today, off to get some LED lamps (happy days)
  13. Well it’s now mine! 300 mile drive home and the actual mpg was 53.2, at a steady 70 with cruise on, only thing to report the check engine light came in sadly, didn’t notice it at first, pulled away at a very small roundabout and it popped up. No loss of power or anything and that was after 275 motorway miles. Will get it checked tomorrow, can’t be anything serious otherwise it would’ve gone into limp mode I would assume? thank you for all the comments and tips, the dsg was indeed a little jerky but smoothed our once up to temp, one drl bulb out and one footwell light out. Apart from that she’s all good, sat nav was perfect as was the Bluetooth with music streaming. Regards Scott
  14. I’m hoping to get 40k out of it before anything major happens. with a very comprehensive service history I feel that should be possible, also driving style is going to help. Give it time to warm up and not bounce it off the Rev limiter will help also. will let you know how it get on and pictures of the new beast come Tuesday. Regards Scott.
  15. Thank you TheRobinK, much appreciated. I shall look into if the fix has been applied. I would it probably has, considering all of the servicing and repair work has been carried out at one Skoda garage, but I will check. Wile7, Yes the price is good, the guy had it up for sale at £3990, but I suggested 3500 and not a penny more, I also hinted to how many people (very few) will be knocking down his front door to buy the car. He saw sense after an hour of thinking about it. to be honest, if the service history wasn’t as comprehensive then I would’ve avoided it to. all that’s left is to ask the questions that have been raised on this excellent forum and to wait for answers. Then Tuesday to view the car. I shall keep everyone posted. Thank you again, everyone for all the helpful tips and information that I didn’t have a clue about. Regards Scott.
