  1. Hi. I'm looking to swap my Derv vRS in the Summer, and out of a list of alternatives, I'm edging towards a TSI vRS, around two years old. I have heard some horror stories about them, and I have seen that others get no problems at all. My new car will need to last me at least four or five years, and I'll only have a year (at most) warranty as a back up should anything go wrong. Is there anything in particular I need to look for when I'm looking around and test driving, and do I find one with as little mileage as possible, or do I get one that has covered 40k miles and had a DSG service, or...? Thanks in advance for any advice!
  2. The yellow one is my sister's 1.9 TDi 105 Sport, and the red one is Mother's vRS. Excuse the quality of the picture, it was the only one I managed to get with both cars together before my sister went home...
  3. My car, no idea what's up... This happened half an hour after having an MOT at a main dealer...
  4. By I mean I wasn't holding the button down... Me = Numpty! Shoulda tried that...
  5. And are there any protectors available for behind the door handles...??
  6. Does anyone have any experience of companies/people who can get rid of alloy scuffs [one previous "careful" lady owner], or would it be worth getting them painted black or white... I think I should keep them silver, as I think the alloys would look too small in the arches, if that makes any sense... Any opinions?
  7. Would polish and wax get rid of scratches, such as the ones around the door handles? Or should I just give it a damn good t-cut first... My black Fabia hasn't had any more than a pressure washer and a sponge used on it. Little scratches and tar spots all over it... I might actually have the time to give it a good clean and polish after I pick it up...
  8. Since September 2003: '87 E VW Polo 1.3 Saloon [Horribly nasty car but it was bulletproof] - Sold '98 R Peugeot 306 1.6 XS [18k miles in 8 months] - Lost an argument with standing water then a hedge.... :( '05 54 Renault Clio 1.5 dCi 80 [Too sensible!] - Sold '94 L Toyota Starlet GT Turbo - Sold before too many things went wrong with it... '98 R Seat Ibiza 2.0 8v GTi - Pretty much dead but got 1k part exchange for it! '08 08 Vauxhall Corsa VXR - Bloody lovely but going as need something cheaper to run - Going Monday. '07 07 Skoda Fabia vRS (Black Magic) - Been my mum's since new, done 61k miles but still running sweet!
  9. Just wondering if anyone can help... I'm buying my Mother's '07 mk I Fabia vRS [she's getting a mk II Fabia vRS - jealous] to replace my Corsa VXR... I've got a little 'un on the way and need something cheaper to run - she fits the bill perfectly, especially after an 800 mile round trip to Exmoor!! Anyway... Has anyone experienced the rear door seals leaking? The garage have promised to sort it out under warranty [even though the car is 6 months out of warranty, it was flagged before the 3 years was up], but I don't hold much hope. The boot will not unlock using the button on the fob... Have checked fuses but I have heard that the list of fuses in the manual is in the wrong order anyway?? What's the best stuff to clean the white part of the seats? And how easy [and what are the implications] of remapping or chipping it to 160bhp? A poor effort I know, but my Missus will be driving this and she ain't used to power! Just want a little extra without sending my insurance up too much, and I don't have the money to spend on upgrading the brakes, clutch, suspension, etc. Much appreciated if anyone can answer these!
  10. My local dealer. Great as they make you feel like you're their only customer. Excellent service!
  11. I don't see the point of getting ones that match your car, X5, CLK, etc . The one on my Fabia was registered in 1962 on my great-auntie's Morris 1000 (no prefix, 3 mumbers, 3 letters), and I've got it for sentimental purposes really. The only plate I'd buy is a northern-irish WIL ----, or I could buy MRW111S (Mr Wills) for a fiver short of £6000, not that I would!! Someone must make a lot of cash in the reg plate world.
  12. Yeah put ur mum as a named driver, with you as the policy holder. I'm 20 and I had a clio 1.5 DCi 80, insurance for me was £840 with Admiral, put my mum as a second driver brought it down to £705! Strange how insurance works...
